Mods are the extended lifeline of most Bethesda games. None more so than the mods that introduce various new lands and quests to go along with them. They are the reason that some call Bethesda games only a platform for modders to produce new content.
Some mods on this list will put official DLC’s to shame while others will offer bite-sized but fun adventures that you can casually partake in. So without further ado – let’s jump right into it. Also, be sure to check some of our other favorite Fallout 4 mods across other categories:
As always, starting off with a simple mod. Lima detachment will set you off on a series of quests that will result in you getting access to your very own Enclave themed bunker. The quests themselves reward exploration and offer tons of additional story and lore information. Once the awesome looking bunker is yours – it will also come equipped with a ton of new power armor paint jobs as well as character armor and weapons.
A small, yet effective mod that adds a unique game mechanic that will make the world feel more reactive and alive. It does this by adding a unique bounty hunter faction to the world. This faction will track your crimes and will dispatch unique enemies with special gear to hunt you down. If they manage to take you down, they will take your caps and gear and you can, in turn, hunt them down to retrieve it.
If you were, like us, extremely disappointed in the fact that the infamous Enclave doesn’t make an appearance in the vanilla game – this Fallout 4 quest mod is right up your alley. Complete with the famous oil rig Enclave base, new companions, a full-fledged radio station, new weapons and much much more.
If you thought that Goodneighbor was a bit underwhelming in terms of available content, here’s a Fallout 4 quest mod that adds 3-4 hours of additional gameplay possibilities. Story missions, assassinations, a ton of new dialogue, shops, weapons, and player homes make this a comprehensive expansion of the vanilla game.
FCOM brings the world of Fallout and XCOM together by allowing you to call in and command the forces of various factions. Organize your forces into squads and lead them into battle, or turn them into settlers and bring a faction presence to your settlements. With no spawn limits, you can actually become a commander with a real army at your back instead of a handful annoying volunteers.
Wow, what a mod. Maxwell’s World transports you to a whole new theme park world space. Once there, you will partake in a highly atmospheric quest chain that will ultimately lead you to one of the 4 different endings depending on your choices. New creative weapons, new enemies, bosses, mechanics make Maxwell’s World a DLC-sized mod worth experiencing.
A huge quest mod that will take you to every corner of the Commonwealth in an attempt to reveal the truth about a project called Phoenix. Except for the all-encompassing air of mystery, the quest will bring you a new player home, a completely new faction to contend with (with tough bosses), and a bunch of goodies in the form of weapons and paint jobs.
A huge DLC sized mod that will take you to Fusion City – an underground community larger that Diamond City. Complete with a mall, subway system, fight arena, hotel, university, player home, clinic, barber, laundromat, bathhouse, bank, grocery store, church, bars, restaurants, art gallery, residential district, shooting range, every type of vendor, and more. There’s even a high-end club, new companions, enemies, and enough content to make a brand new game.
This is one of the best Fallout 4 quest mods that runs parallel to the Fusion City Rising. Featuring a staggering 20 hours of gameplay. The variety on offer is second to none with the mod having you with exploring an underwater vault, escaping from prison, travel back in time and much much more. It also enriches the world of Fallout with five new factions, a fully voiced companion and plenty more that would easily make an article of its own. It even features an alternate ending to the vanilla game.
