As many leakers have already hinted, the name of the new region for Scarlet and Violet is Paldea. Players will explore the Paldea region as part of an independent study project for school, with the help of either Koraidon or Miraidon. They are ride Pokémon with many different forms to help the player navigate different terrains.
Fidough, Cetitan, and Paldean Wooper
The third trailer reveals a few new Pokémon. Fidough is a Fairy Type that looks like a dog made of cinnamon buns. Next there’s Cetitan, an Ice Type that resembles a whale with legs. Lastly, this trailer unveils Gen 9’s first regional variant, Paldean Wooper. It’s brown with purple whiskers and is a Poison and Ground Type.
Terastal Phenomenon
This trailer provides some insight into Gen 9’s new gimmick, which will replace Dynamaxing. It’s called the Terastal phenomenon, and it gives players the option to Terastallize one Pokémon per battle. The official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website states the following about this new mechanic.
Terastallizing a Pokémon allows you to enhance your battle strategies by increasing the power of any moves that have the same type as your Pokémon’s Tera Type or by changing your Pokémon’s weaknesses.
Early-Purchase Bonus
An early-purchase bonus is revealed at the end of the trailer. Prior to Tuesday February 28th, 2023, players will have the chance to obtain a special Pikachu through Mystery Gift. This Pikachu’s Tera Type is Flying, and it can use the move Fly.
Fans will have to wait until Pokémon Scarlet and Violet come out on 11/18/22 to get this unique Pikachu.
