We’re a little under a week away from the launch of Overwatch 2 Season 14 and Blizzard has just teased another collaboration with a massively popular franchise. The collaboration teaser comes at the very end of the Season 14 Trailer where the iconic blue arrow belonging to Aang from Avatar appears in the dark, confirming an official collab between Overwatch 2 and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
If the ATLA collab is anything like Overwatch’s previous collaborations, we can expect around four to five themed Legendary skins, as well as a few additional cosmetics such as sprays, icons, or emotes. From the official teaser, most fans have deduced that Zenyatta will receive the Aang Legendary skin for this event as you can see from the outline of his shiny bald head and orbs alongside Aang’s iconic blue arrow. Considering that Zenyatta and Aang both come from monistic backgrounds and the floaty, airy nature of Zenyatta’s orbs, this seems like a perfect match.

Aside from Zenyatta as Aang, the other Avatar collab skin fans are most confident about is Venture getting a Toph Beifong-themed skin. It’s been over eight months since Venture joined Overwatch 2 and, since being introduced in Season 10, they have yet to receive a single Legendary skin. After significant fan backlash, OW2 Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed that the plucky geologist would receive a “really exciting skin” during Season 14: Venture is completely absent from the Season 14 launch trailer and a collab skin with one of the most popular animated shows of all time certainly counts as exciting, leading many to conclude that Venture is an almost certain pick for Toph, especially when they’re both earth-based combatants.
Other characters that players expect to show up in the form of skins include Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and maybe Azula. As for who will don these skins, Genji is a popular pick for Sokka or Zuko whereas some believe that Mei might get the skin for Katara. Meanwhile, some other underdog picks include an Appa skin for Orisa.
Hazard, New Tank for Season 14
Avatar: The Last Airbender joins an ever-growing list of high-profile collaborations in Overwatch 2 which began with last year’s One Punch Man collab. Following that, OW2 has held similar collaboration events with the likes of Cowboy Beebop, Transformers, and, most recently, My Hero Academia. During the first two collab events, players could earn at least one of the new skins for free, but that has been scaled back to earnable sprays or titles in the last two collaboration events. If you want to get your hands on all the Avatar skins when they launch, it’s going to run you a pretty penny.
Season 14 of Overwatch 2 launches next Tuesday, December 10th 2024.
