At long last, the second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is here. It introduces 5 new Pokémon including the cover legendaries. Here are some highlights from the latest trailer.
For those who missed it, watch the second Gen 9 trailer here.
New Characters
There are two new Pokémon Professors, which one the player meets is determined by the version of the game one is playing. In Pokémon Scarlet the player will meet Professor Sada, who showcases very nature-inspired clothes and looks very tough. Alternatively, in Pokémon Violet the player will meet Professor Turo, who’s very clean-cut and wears new agey clothes. Furthermore, this seemingly confirms that Gen 9 will draw upon the contrast between traditional and modern things or ideas. The trailer also introduces Nemona, an experienced Pokémon Trainer who befriends the player.
Pawmi, Smoliv, and Lechonk
The second Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer introduces a few new Pokémon. Firstly, Pawmi is a cute little Electric type, which could be Gen 9’s Pikachu clone. Second, Smoliv is a pint-sized Grass and Normal type whose sketch is based on an olive. Lastly, Lechonk is a tiny little Normal type that’s drawn as a very spherical pig. Smoliv and Lechonk are probably early route Pokémon since Game Freak usually shows those sorts of Pokémon in the second trailer. Pawmi could also be in that category, but if it is the Pikachu clone then maybe not.
Cover Legendaries: Koraidon and Miraidon
Scarlet and Violet’s cover legendaries are revealed. Koraidon is on the cover of Pokémon Scarlet. It looks like a dragon with rooster elements, maybe this Pokémon is inspired by the Barcelos Rooster. Miraidon is on the cover of Pokémon Violet. This Pokémon looks very new agey, almost like a robotic dragon. The types for these legendaries haven’t been revealed yet, but the popular theory among the community is that Koraidon is a Dragon and Fighting type and Miraidon is a Dragon and Electric type.
That concludes this roundup of the second Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Trailer. These games are scheduled to release on November 18th, 2022, and there will likely be more trailers before then.
