On March 22, 2025, the God of War franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Although the rumored remastered collection of the Greek trilogy remains just a rumor, Santa Monica Studio does have a gift to commemorate this anniversary: the Dark Odyssey collection.
Its name comes from the original provisional title of the first God of War (Dark Odyssey) and its content can be accessed in any version of the game, including the PC version.
This is a free update that will arrive to God of War Ragnarök on March 20th and will include cosmetics and items with a black and gold aesthetic, inspired by the reward obtained upon completing God of War II in God mode.
This collection will be available in any lost item chest within the updated base game or automatically in Valhalla mode.
Dark Odyssey collection content
The collection includes a set of accessories and skins for weapons and characters from God of War Ragnarök. Along with these cosmetics, the ‘Edit Appearance’ function will be added to Kratos’s arsenal.
However, weapon skins can only be equipped when they are fully upgraded.

A variety of official merchandise, such as books, plushies, vinyls, and apparel, will also be available for sale for fans who want to celebrate this milestone with special merchandise.
While it’s not the anticipated remastered Greek trilogy, it’s good to see that Santa Monica Studio has not let the 20th anniversary of God of War go unnoticed. There may still be more surprises on the way.
