God of War Ragnarok: A Stag for All Seasons Quest Guide

This guide will tell you everything you need to complete the A Stag of All Seasons Favour in God of War Ragnarok. Ratatoskr needs Kratos to find the missing Stags of Yggdrasil, and this guide will tell you exactly how to start the quest, where the 4 Stags are and what rewards you get upon completion.

God of War Ragnarok A Stag for All Seasons Quest Guide

God of War Ragnarok has a fair few Favours and side quests that Kratos and company can take on as a break from their main journey. Many of these lead to new areas, cool rewards or just nice moments of nice character interaction. One of these Favours is called A Stag for All Seasons.

Ratatosk, the squirrel who tends to the World Tree, has lost sight of the Seasonal Stags. These are mythical creatures who embody the four seasons and tend to the World Tree’s roots. And now they’re missing. He will ask Kratos to give him a helping hand with finding and retrieving his lost Stags, which can be easier said than done.

Here’s how to complete the A Stag for All Seasons Favour in God of War Ragnarok.

How to Start the Favour

To begin A Stag for All Seasons, you first need to make your way to The Crater.

This is a massive and expansive secret area in God of War Ragnarok that can be unlocked after the main story quest Creatures of Prophecy. After completion of that quest, you will be prompted with another called Scent of Survival which, upon completion, unlocks access to the Crater.

Once in The Crater, you are free to explore as you wish. To begin the A Stag for All Seasons Favour, though, you need to actually find one of the four Seasonal stags that are hidden around the map. The easiest to get to at this point would likely be the Winter Stag but any of them will do.

After you have encountered at least one of the Stags, Arrogant Squirrel will inform you that Ratatoskr wants some words with you, beginning the A Stag for All Seasons Favour.

Stag Locations

Return to Ratatoskr next to Sindri’s House and he will inform you that the Seasonal Stags who usually tend and help keep Yggdrasil clean have run off. He needs them back (especially with Nidhogg gone) and cannot trust himself or his various incarnations to do the task, so it falls to you.

He gives you a bag of feed for the Stags and then sets you off to find them. All 4 Stags are found in the Crater but in different places: 1 Stag is in the Jungle, 2 can (technically) be found in the Plains and 1 resides in the Sinkholes.

Winter Stag

You will likely stumble across the Winter Stag while completing the main Favour in the Crater, For Vanaheim! To find this Stag, make your way to the Plains.

On the Western side of the Plains is a small marsh area next to a locked gate. During the day, the path on the other side of the gate is barred by invulnerable plants. At night, though, the plants recede and Kratos can unlock the gate… after dealing with an Ogre or two first.

Now that the gate is open, proceed inside. Avoid the toxic plants and when faced with a diverging path, head right into a tight wall you can shimmy through. Once you’re on the other side, you will be greeted by The Crimson Dread, a massive Dragon who has been making life in the Crater a bit bothersome. Kill it and you can continue onto the Stag.

After the Dragon has been slain, head to the right of the arena to see a ledge you can grapple with the Blades. Hop up it and you will see the Stag right next to a convenient Mystic Gateway.

Spring Stag

The Spring Stag is located in a rather obvious area, but getting to the area can be kind of tricky. While it may dwell in the Plains, you need to head to the Sinkholes first.

Once you have risen the water level from Return of the River, head back to the Sinkholes Entrance Mystic Gateway. Climb up the nearby ledge and return to the area where you were previously attacked by a flying Dragon named Ash Tyrant (the main foe in The Burning Skies Favour). Head to the chain on the right which previously opened the door and, with the gate out of the way, leap over to the opposite side

Up to this point, Kratos and his company will keep mentioning the tremors and quakes that shake the Sinkholes. This starts the Favour Quaking Hollow which, upon reaching the end of this path, you will complete by slaying a Drake. When the Drake is dead, you can wander its arena undisturbed.

Temple Entrance

Temple Entrance

The area you need to go to is on the left side of the arena. There will be a small gap that you can shimmy through into a ruined temple. This next section involves a lot of avoiding toxic plants, jumping up high ledges and generally moving around a lot.

At the top, you’ll be standing at The Wishing Well, a gorgeous area full of red trees and bountiful plant life. The Well is where you can donate your strange crystals in return for goodies and rewards, but we’re here for the Stag.

Atop one of the high walls of the Wishing Well will be the Spring Stag, getting chewed out by the Arrogant Squirrel. Approach it, give it the feed and you can tick another Stag off your list.

Summer Stag

The Summer Stag is pretty easy to find, truth be told. It is found in The Sinkholes.

It is recommended that you complete the Return of the River Favour first. This Stag is pretty close to another one (the Summer Stag) and so getting this Favour taken care of means that you can knock out two Stags with one stone.

Make your way over to the Sinkhole Entrance Mystic Gateway. Once here, simply look to the left and the Stag will be peacefully grazing nearby. Approach it with the feed to send it home to Ratatoskr.

Autumn Stag

The Autumn Stag can be found in The Jungle. You’ll have to do a few things before you can get to it. Make sure it is Daytime in Vanaheim, as well.

First, you must complete the Return of the River Favour in the Jungle. This will return water to the entire Crater and allow you to travel from place to place via boat.

Next, take the boat to the platform where two Ogres wait. When you first entered the Jungle, these annoying Ogres were throwing rocks and stones at you. With no way to get to them, you had to leave them alone. Not now, though. With the boat, you can ride up to the platform and slip in.

Once the Ogres have been dealt with, you’ll have the area to yourself. On the right side of the platform will be one of Vanaheim’s recognisable massive trees, the ones which grow or contract with the day and night. When it is daylight, Kratos can use this tree (and a hook for his Blades) to make it to the other side.

Waiting there will be the Autumn Stag. Mozy on over, give it the feed and you can count another Stag down.

Return to Ratatoskr

Once all 4 of the Stags have been found, return to Ratatoskr. Upon speaking to him you will complete the A Stag for All Seasons Favour.

The main reward from this quest is the Rond of Disruption for your Shield. This Shield has a chance to create an Elemental Storm whenever Kratos interrupts a Blue Ring attack or whenever he Parries an attack. It increases Luck and Runic by 17 points at level 7.

That is how to complete the A Stag of All Seasons Favour in God of War Ragnarok.
