God of War Ragnarok Release Date Confirmed, Collector’s and Jötnar Editions Shown

God of War's next entry finally has its release date, being on November 9th, 2022. This PlayStation exclusive has had to deal with multiple delays in the past, and its predecessor, God of War (2018), managed to release on PC through Steam in the meantime, giving those players a chance to see the fourth God of War entry.

To say God of War Ragnarok‘s upcoming release is something worth looking forward to is a bit of an understatement. The game’s a follow-up to the series’ fourth main entry on last-generation consoles and was first announced back in September 2020. Today, though, there’s information regarding the upcoming God of War Ragnarok release, as its launch date was finally set in stone, being November 9th, 2022. Below is a tweet from PlayStation’s Twitter account announcing it.

So, Kratos’ next big title will be coming in about four months, and alongside the official release date being revealed, there’s some more information relating to the release and how it’s being sold. First off, a brand new trailer, albeit a short one, was showcased (which you can see below), and secondly, God of War Ragnarok‘s Collector’s Edition and Jötnar Edition were also showcased today, with those getting their own video from PlayStation. But first, the new trailer.

Now, onto the two limited editions coming out for Ragnarok. The first, the Collector’s Edition, comes with

  • A digital copy of the main game for both PS4 and PS5
  • The Darkdale costume pack (includes a costume for Kratos and Atreus, as well as the Darkdale Axe Grip and Darkdale Blades Handle weapon cosmetics)
  • A digital mini artbook designed by Dark Horse
  • The official God of War Ragnarok Digital Soundtrack
  • an Avatar Set for your PlayStation Network profile
  • A unique PlayStation 4 theme
  • The Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine as the box’s theming
  • a Dwarven Dice Set collectible
  • two 2″ Vanir Twins carvings
  • a special Steelbook display case (NOTE: Game disc not included)
  • A 16″ Mjölnir replica, as it appears in Ragnarok

Whereas the Jötnar Edition, the second limited version, comes with

  • A digital copy of the main game for both PS4 and PS5
  • The Darkdale costume pack
  • A digital mini artbook designed by Dark Horse
  • The official God of War Ragnarok Digital Soundtrack
  • an Avatar Set for your PlayStation Network profile
  • A unique PlayStation 4 theme
  • The Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine as the box’s theming
  • two 2″ Vanir Twins carvings
  • a special Steelbook display case (NOTE: Game disc not included)
  • Brok’s Dice Set collectible
  • The Falcon, Bear, and Wolf Pin Set
  • A Legendary Draupnir Ring
  • The Yggdrasil Cloth Map, showing all of the game’s realms
  • A 7″ vinyl record of God of War Ragnarok‘s soundtrack, composed by Bear McCreary
  • A 16″ Mjölnir replica, as it appears in Ragnarok

Finally, at the very end of the unboxing video, Sony revealed that pre-orders will be open for God of War Ragnarok in nine days (as of the time of writing), on July 15th, 2022. That means that players can pre-order God of War Ragnarok in a little over a week and finally see the game when the game releases on November 9th.

God of War Ragnarok launches on November 9th, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Pre-orders for the game will open on July 15th, 2022.
