3, 2, 1, let’s jam! Another anime crossover has landed in Overwatch 2 and this time it’s with one of the most iconic and popular series in the entire world, Cowboy Bebop. This legendary anime title has been immortalised as an all-time classic thanks to a stellar story, a superb cast of characters, engaging and fluid action and so much more. This crossover is much like the first anime event Overwatch 2 had with One Punch Man and it gives players the chance to purchase special themed cosmetics based on the Bebop world and characters, as well as earn a few of those cosmetics for free, including a free Legendary Skin based off of one of the Swordfish II crew.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new Overwatch 2 x Cowboy Bebop event going on in-game right now.

Cowboy Bebop Event Challenges
While the bulk of the crossover may only be accessible via the shop, there are still several things F2P players can do to take part in the event. Similar to the One Punch Man crossover from last year, the Cowboy Bebop crossover features many special event challenges which players can complete from March 12th to March 26th to earn various rewards, including a few Cowboy Bebop exclusive cosmetics.
In total, the crossover has 14 challenges to complete. The first batch of 10 Bebop event challenges are:
- The Real Folk Blues: Complete 5 Cowboy Bebop event challenges.
- Carry That Weight: Complete 11 Cowboy Bebop event challenges.
- Bang!: Deal 5,000 critical damage.
- Be-bopped!: Use your Ultimate 30 times (excluding Total Mayhem and co-op modes).
- Eye of the Present: Earn 30 eliminations/assists from within 15 meters.
- Honky Tonk Helper: Heal 30,000 damage (excluding Total Mayhem and co-op modes).
- Bounty Hunter I: Complete 12 games. Wins grant double progress.
- Bounty Hunter II: Complete 24 games. Wins grant double progress.
- Bounty Hunter III: Complete 36 games. Wins grant double progress.
- See You Space Cowboy: Complete 48 games. Wins grant double progress.
Alongside this first set of event challenges, there are also four more Cowboy Bebop event challenges which won’t become available right away. Instead, these challenges will all go online on the 18th of March, six days after the start of the event. These challenges only award Battle Pass EXP and they don’t seem to be tied to any specific activity, but this will stop you from obtaining the Carry That Weight challenge until they launch.
- Jazzin’ It Up: Deal 10,000 damage with abilities (excluding Total Mayhem and co-op modes).
- Eye of the Past: Earn 30 eliminations/assists beyond 15 meters.
- Swingin’ Save: Earn 40 assists/saves (excludes Total Mayhem and co-op modes).
- Vicious Showdown: Contest/capture objective for 500 seconds.
Compared to previous Overwatch 2 event challenges, the Cowboy Bebop challenges will take significantly longer, likely on account of there being no dedicated mode or activity. However, on the plus side, this also means that you can play how you want for most of the challenges and still make progress, especially when the extra four kick in next week.
Cowboy Bebop Themed Rewards
As for what completing these event challenges gets you, they will award a full suite of Ein-themed gear and goodies. Ein is the beloved corgi of the Swordfish II crew and his visage is being used all across the game as a celebration for new players.
If you manage to complete the following challenges, you’ll be awarded with Ein-specific cosmetics:
- The Real Folk Blues will award you the Ein Weapon Charm.
- Bounty Hunter II will award you the Ein Player Icon.
- See You Space Cowboy… will award you the Ein Name Card.
Aside from these Bebop-specific rewards, completing all of the event challenges will also get you 35,000 Battle Pass EXP (2,500 EXP per challenge) which is three and a half levels.
Free Legendary Ein Wrecking Ball Skin
Alongside the Cowboy Bebop-themed offerings in the shop, there is one Bebop skin available to all players for free and that’s the skin based on Ein. As Overwatch’s resident cuddly critter, Wrecking Ball has the Legendary Ein Skin, one of the most effective Tanks this season. In this skin, Wrecking Ball gets quite the drastic makeover, with a new look based on Ein’s fluffy, corgi body: from his floppy ears to fuzzy coat, Ball surely looks the part.
The Legendary Ein skin is the final reward available in the Cowboy Bebop x Overwatch 2 event and you’ll obtain it after completing the Carry That Weight event challenge. This involves completing 11 of the 12 available challenges, meaning that you won’t be able to obtain it until the final four challenges become available on March 18th.
Manage to beat it, though, and you’ll earn yourself another great-looking Legendary Skin to add to your collection. Do note that you must complete all of the challenges before the end of the crossover on March 26th because at that point all of the challenges, including Carry That Weight, will vanish for the foreseeable future.
Overwatch 2 x Cowboy Bebop Shop Cosmetics
As mentioned earlier, while there are event challenges complete, the biggest draw of the crossover will be the Cowboy Bebop Skins and cosmetics in the shop. Similar to how the One Punch Man cosmetics were handled, there are some different options to pick depending on which character you like the most and how much you’re willing to spend.
Aside from the free Ein Skin, there are four more Legendary skins based on the Swordfish II crew. Cassidy is rocking the iconic suit and swagger of Cowboy Bebop’s leading man Spike Spiegel, whereas Ashe has taken up the attire of the beautiful but deadly Faye Valentine, complete with a Red Tail-inspired B.O.B. Meanwhile, Sombra has donned the garb of another hacker prodigy, Ed, while Jet Black’s metallic arm is being sported by none other than Magua, the latest Tank to be added to Overwatch 2.
If you want to get all of the Cowboy Bebop goodness in one package and are willing to spend big to get it, you can purchase the Cowboy Bebop Mega Bundle for 5600 Overwatch Coins (or roughly $40-$50). This bundle includes all four Bebop-themed character skins, both of the new highlight intros, all of the emotes and poses, and all of the anime-art name cards for a total of 16 unique items.
Of course, 5600 Overwatch Coins is a lot and some players may just want to get an individual item instead of the whole lot. For those who just want the skins on their own, you can also pick them up individually from the Hero Gallery for 1900 Overwatch Coins. On the other hand, if you’d like a few Faye or Ed-themed goodies to go along with your purchased skins, you can also buy the character bundles for 2500 Coins which come with one Cowboy Bebop skin and several other cosmetics related to that character.
- Faye Valentine Ash Bundle: Faye Valentine Legendary Skin, Hip Shooter Highlight Intro, Coach Gun Victory Pose, Dynamic Duo Victory Pose, Faye Valentine Name Card
- Spike Spiegel Cassidy Bundle: Spike Spiegel Legendary Skin, Revolver Twirl Highlight Intro, Finger Gun Emote, Swordfish II Weapon Charm, Spike Spiegel Name Card
- Ed Sombra Bundle: Ed Legendary Skin, Ed’s Saunter Emote, Ed Name Card
- Jet Black Mauga Bundle: Jet Black Legendary Skin, Bonsai Weapon Charm, Jet Black Namecard
- Cowboy Bebop Shop Items
- Buy Event Skins Separately for Less Coins
That was everything you needed to know about the Overwatch 2 x Cowboy Bebop event. Just a reminder that the crossover runs from March 12th to March 26th, at which point all of the challenges, as well as all of the shop items, will disappear so get everything you want done now. See you, Space Cowboys!
