Journey to Kitakami in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask to battle the legendary Loyal Three after an unexpected plot twist. Trainers uncover the truth behind Ogerpon and the village legends that highlight him as a monster who was banished by the Loyal Three.
It appears that Ogerpon was falsely judged by the residents of Kitakami. While Kitakami legends paint the Loyal Three as heroes, they may not be worthy of the title. In reality, they stole Ogerpon’s masks that provided him safety from the villagers who fear him.
To assist Ogerpon in recovering his lost masks, trainers will battle Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. Also known as the Loyal Three. These battles are highly reminiscent of the Titan Battles found within the Paldea region. Only for these battles, it’s recommended you prepare with level 75+ Pokémon.
Progressing in the DLC story will unlock the Loyal Three’s locations in your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet map!
To unlock the locations of The Loyal Three on your map, you must first progress slightly within the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask storyline. You’ll know it’s time for battle when Carmine has you search for clues on the Loyal Three’s whereabouts. Upon returning with all 3 clues, their locations are added to your map. The clues can be gathered by talking to the residents of Mossui Town.
Titanic Okidogi – The Loyal Three Brawn
Found in the Paradise Barrens, Okidogi is a large dog-like Pokémon featuring a unique scarf that leaves even Carmine jealous. The Loyal Three make for the classic trio exhibiting brawn, brain, and beauty. In Okidogi’s case, it’s all brawn.
Okidogi shares the same resistances of his fellow Loyal Three member, Fezandipiti. Scizor is a great choice when battling Okidogi, due to their ability to negate poison damage. If you’re looking for highest damage output Slowbro is my personal favorite, due to Okidogi’s Psychic-type vulnerability. Just be sure to have Slowbro equipped with Psychic and Confusion before entering the battle!

It should be noted that every member of the Loyal Three is completely immune to Dragon-type attacks, making them a poor choice for battle. In addition to this, Okidogi has a few more resistances which can be found below. All three Pokémon also share Poison type attacks, so stray away from Grass and Fairy-type Pokémon when assembling your team.

Titanic Munkidori – The Loyal Three Brain
Located west of Loyalty Plaza, Munkidori is the brains within the legendary Loyal Three. This is shown by his pondering pose that can often be seen in his artwork. Additionally, Munkidori is a Poison/Psychic-type Pokémon. Therefore making Munkidori the only Pokémon amongst the Loyal Three not vulnerable to psychic damage.
Gyarados is a poor option for fighting Munkidori due to his dragon and water-type moves. – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
There are many mistakes trainers can make while battling Munkidori. Despite his intelligence, Munkidori is not without his own weaknesses. Referring to the chart below, players can exploit these weaknesses in battle. Tyranitar is a fantastic option to have on your team. Due to their Dark-type and more than adequate health.

Titanic Fezandipiti – The Loyal Three Beauty
Though you are not required to fight the Loyal Three in any order, the Fezandipiti is the final of the Loyal Three this guide covers. A Poison/Fairy-type Pokémon who exhibits elegant beauty like many other Fairy-types. Upon locating the Titanic Fezandipiti in east Oni Mountain, it will fly into a nearby cave.

Though there are many caverns and exits within the cave, players will want to journey as far down as possible. Once reaching the bottom of the cave is when the real battle begins. Scizor is yet again a fantastic option due to his Steel-type. But, those looking for even more damage should turn to Gallade or even Mewtwo for their Psychic-type attacks.

Battling Ogerpon – The Friendly Outcast
While we should’ve trusted Kieran from the start, we now know he was always correct when it came to Ogerpon. After believing in Ogerpon and retrieving his masks, he has no intention of returning to the caves. Once fending Kieran and his jealousy off, it’s time to battle Ogerpon in all his glory. Do not be afraid to hit Ogerpon with all your team’s strength as he will remain catchable even after defeated.

Utilizing his masks, Ogerpon is capable of taking on multiple forms. Within each form he will be enhanced in different ways. Keep this in mind for after you catch Ogerpon, at which time he will entrust you with his masks.
Masks grant Ogerpon with Empower, an exclusive ability that is unique to every mask when Terastallizing. Also changing Ogerpon’s attack type, and ability, its useful to review the masks before battling with or against Ogerpon.
Masks – How They Affect Ogerpon

Teal Mask: Ogerpon wears the Teal mask by default, making it a Grass-type Pokémon. It has the Defiant ability, which boosts any stat that is lowered by an opposing Pokémon. When Terastallized, its Speed stat is boosted via its Embody ability.

Wellspring Mask: By holding the mask, Ogerpon becomes a Grass/Water-type Pokémon. Additionally, Ogerpon will gain the Water Absorb ability, meaning that whenever it is hit by a Water-type move, it’ll restore its HP. (Up to 25%) When it Terastallizes, Embody will boost his special defense.

Cornerstone Mask – By holding the Cornerstone Mask, Ogerpon will become Grass-Rock-type. It activates the ability Sturdy, meaning Ogerpon can never eliminated with a single attack. In addition, the mask boosts Defense when Terastallized.

Hearthfire Mask: Transitions Ogerpon into a Grass/Fire-type Pokémon and grants the Mold Breaker ability. A passive trait which ignores the abilities of rival Pokémon. When Terastallizing, the Hearthfire Mask will provide enhanced attack.
Allowing Ogerpon to hold any mask other than the Teal mask also allows for a stackable 1.2x damage increase. Keeping these factors in mind, it’s no surprise that Ogerpon is a tough Pokémon. I found Iron Hands more than suitable for defeating all of Ogerpons variants. By combining Drain Punch with Belly Drum, players can do insane damage and regain all lost health.
How could anybody be afraid of Ogerpon? – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Catching Ogerpon
Once players have defeated Ogerpon and seen all he has to offer, they are presented with an opportunity to catch him. Much like Tera Raids, players can use any ball they wish to house their new Pokémon without any resistance. Finally, Ogerpon entrusts you with his masks allowing you to utilize him and his unique abilities in battle.
Players should be aware that while they may not see the Teal Mask within their inventory, Ogerpon wears it as his default mask. Meaning he doesn’t need to be holding it to reap its benefits, allowing them to be stacked with other held items.
Catching Ogerpon allows you to return to the Paldea region and utilize him in any battle found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Or remain in Kitakami to battle over 100 new Pokémon added in the Teal Mask DLC. It’s up to you how you continue your adventure from here!
