Fan favourite Legendary Pokémon have returned in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disc, allowing long-time fans to reunite with some of the most iconic Pokémon from their past and newer fans the opportunity to meet and befriend Pokemon who shaped the series’ history. Whether you’re into the classics like Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres or prefer the flashy Legendaries we’ve gotten in newer games like Solgaleo and Lunala, there’s a Pokémon here for everyone to enjoy. Hunting down Legendaries is one of the best parts of the Pokemon endgame and that’s no different here in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
However, unlocking these Legendary Pokémon and getting them to spawn in Paldea will take a lot of time and a lot of grinding BP, especially if you want to catch all 25. To make things even more complicated, certain Legendaries are exclusive to either Scarlet or Violet unless you complete a specific kind of BBQ, one that is impossible to do if you’re playing solo. While it is possible to get all 25 on a single game, it won’t be easy so we’re here to guide you through the whole process, including where to find all of Legendaries.
Here’s how to unlock access to all Legendary Pokémon in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disc DLC, as well as where you can find them all in Paldea.

How to Unlock Legendary Spawns in The Indigo Disc
Once you complete the main story of The Indigo Disc, you’ll return to Blueberry Academy and be given a series of tasks. One of these is to visit Ms Briar and conclude some of the stuff you found in Area Zero, at the end of which she tells you that there’s a strange man in a suit waiting for you at the entrance.
That man is Snackworth and he’s your ticket to returning Legendary Pokemon… well, “snack” is more accurate. Snackworth will give you special Legendary Snacks themed after one of the Legendaries reintroduced with The Indigo Disc as rewards for completing a certain amount of Solo or Group Blueberry Quests (or BBQs). You’ll receive one new Snack for every 10 Solo Quests you complete or every 1 Group Quest.
In total, there are 25 Legendaries from various Generations available through this Snack method. 7 of them are available through completing Solo Quests or Group Quests on either game version but the remaining 18 are split between Scarlet and Violet, with 9 being available readily in each.
- Strange Man in the Blueberry Academy Entrance
- Snackworth the Snack Man
Technically, you can obtain every single Legendary Pokémon in The Indigo Disc without needing to play on two versions of the game – as in, if you have everything required, you will obtain all 25 Legendaries on just a single copy of Scarlet or Violet. By completing Solo Quests, you’ll receive Snacks which correlate to your game’s list of available Legendaries: however, if you want Pokemon from the opposite game’s Legendary list, you’ll need to complete Group Quests, instead.
So, for example, if I’m playing on Pokemon Scarlet and I complete 50 Solo Quests and then 3 Group Quests, I will obtain Snacks for 5 of the Pokemon Scarlet Solo Quest Legendaries and then 3 more Snacks for Legendaries who usually only come from Violet Solo Quests. Group Quests are the only way to get opposite version Legendaries without going to a different game.
Once you have a Snack in your inventory, you need back to Paldea to track them down. The location of each Legendary is hinted at by Snackworth himself as he’ll tell you a tale from his youth each time he gives you a Snack, with that story correlating to the Pokemon’s actual location. The Snack itself will disappear from your inventory once you’ve found and encountered the corresponding Legendary.
While a bit tricky to wrap your head around at first, it should come pretty naturally to you after some time playing around. If you want to get all 25 Legendary Pokemon in The Indigo Disc DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 130 Solo Quests and then 12 Group Quests. This will take a lot of time so we advise grouping up with as many players as you can to get through those BBQs as quickly as possible.
Pokémon Scarlet Legendaries
Next, let’s go over the list of Legendary Pokémon readily available in each game. As we just mentioned, you can get every Legendary by completing Solo and Group Quests. However, Solo Quests are much easier to complete and you’ll have a way easier time getting Snacks for the Solo Quests on your specific version of the game.
If you’re playing on Pokémon Scarlet or complete Group Quests in Pokémon Violet, you can obtain Snacks for the following Legendaries:
- Raikou
- Entei
- Suicune
- Ho-Oh
- Latios
- Groudon
- Reshiram
- Solgaleo
- Glastrier
Pokémon Violet Legendaries
Meanwhile, if you’re completing Solo Quests in Pokémon Violet or completing Group Quests in PokémonScarlet, the following Legendary Pokemon will be available to you:
- Lugia
- Latias
- Kyogre
- Cobalion
- Terrakio
- Virizion
- Zekrom
- Lunala
- Spectrier
Legendaries Available on Both Versions
Alongside the 18 Legendaries split between each version, there is also a set of 7 Legendaries who are shared between both versions of the game. Three of these will drop as Snacks from completing more Group Quests whereas the other four will come from completing Solo Quests.
When completing Solo Quests on both versions, you will obtain Snacks for the Generation 1 Legendary Birds (Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres) as well as the star of the Isle of Armor DLC for Sword and Shield, Kubfu. Meanwhile, by completing Group Events on either version of Scarlet or Violet, you will obtain the Legendaries Rayquaza, Kyurem and Necrozma.
All Legendary Pokémon Locations in Paldea
Articuno
The first Legendary on our list is one of the three Legendary Birds of Kanto, Articuno. The frigid Freeze Pokémon can be found in the coldest place in Paldea, the Glaseado Mountains, specifically the western side near Montenevera.
To easily reach it, start at the Montenevera Pokemon Centre and then start heading west. There’s a small stream of water which starts just outside Montenevera’s borders that you need to follow west to a small circular pool. On the edge of this icy sheet of water – which has a tiny chunk of rock in the middle of it – will be Articuno, lounging around and soaking in the cold.

Zapdos
The next Legendary Bird to grace Paldea’s skies is the Electric Pokémon Zapdos, its striking yellow and black feathers making it an easy find. Zapdos can be found quite close to home – literally – as you’ll need to go to the Poco Path near Cabo Poco to find it.
The Poco Path is the road leading from the house where you start the game. You’ll want to follow this road to the Poco Path Lighthouse, where you first meet Arven. Head inside the Light House, climb up the ladder and soak in the glorious, low-res view of Paldea alongside Zapdos, who is chilling atop the Lighthouse guard rail.
- Zapdos the Electric Pokémon
- Zapdos Map Location
Moltres
The final of our Kanto Legendary Birds is Moltres, the Flame Pokémon. As expected of a Pokémon who enjoys high temperatures, Moltres can be found at the edge of the Asado Desert in western Paldea.
To be more specific, the part of the Asado Desert you’ll want to search is the northern stretch. Where the sand meets the grass near the Porto Marinada exit, you’ll find a slab of rock jutting out from the dunes. If you climb atop these rocks, you should be able to spy on the bright flames of Moltres burning high as it overlooks the whole Asado Desert.
Raikou
Moving on from the Legendary Birds of Kanto, we’re now hunting for the three Legendary Beasts of Johto beginning with the Thunder Pokémon, Raikou. If you want to track down this thunder kitty, go to West Province (Area One).
Close to the mountain where you fought the Bombardier Titan during the main story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there’s a circular pool of water which acts as the head of several streams in the West Provinces. To find Raikou, head to that mountain and then follow the path up the mouth of the cave that the Titan was protecting. After that, simply hop down the ledge and Raikou will be waiting for you, looking out over the water.
- Raikou the Thunder Pokémon
- Raikou Map Location
Entei
Following on from Raikou is Entei, the Legendary Beast of Fire and the Volcano Pokémon. Entei can be found in East Province (Area Three) just outside the city of Levincia.
East Province (Area Three) is essentially one large barren plain with a bunch of mining equipment strewn about the place and, to find Entei, you’ll want to head to the eastern edge of the Province. Here, you’ll be able to admire the East Paldea Sea from the sheer rocky cliffs and, if you’re in the right area, you’ll be able to enjoy the view with Entei, who is prowling this stretch of ridge.

- Entei Map Location
Suicune
Lastly, we have Suicune as the final Legendary Beast of Johto. Befitting a Pokemon of its nature, Suicune can be found in Casseroya Lake to the northwest of Paldea.
Starting at the Casseroya Lake (Islet) Fly Spot in the middle of Casseroya Lake, look to the western portion of the lake for a large, vaguely-diamond shaped island. Once you’ve located it, all you need to do is swim or glide over and you’ll quickly meet the Aurora Pokémon itself, enjoying the tranquil view of Casseroya Lake.

Ho-Oh
Closing out the Generation 2 Legendaries are the flagship Pokemon who appeared on the Gold and Silver box arts, Ho-Oh and Lugia. Beginning with the former, you’ll be heading to South Province (Area Four) to find Ho-Oh.
Ho-Oh will be flying around close to a large set of waterfalls to the west of South Province (Area Four), close to the town of Alfornada. The easiest way to get here is to head to the Area Four Watchtower Fly Spot and then head west to the banks of the waterfall: from there, simply climb the rocky walls until you reach the top, where Ho-Oh will be waiting for you.
Lugia
Ho-Oh’s counterpart in Generation 2 is Lugia, one of the most iconic and memorable Legendaries of all time for its distinct design and massive wings. If you want to track down the Diving Pokémon in The Indigo Disc, you’ll need to head to the sea above North Province (Area One).
North Province (Area One) borders a large stretch of the North Paldea Sea, one peppered with several small islands and landmasses. Similar to where Lugia could be found in Johto, you’ll want to take a swim in this portion of the North Sea and keep going until you reach a tiny island which looks like a dot on the map. In the waters surrounding this island will be Lugia.
Latias
Moving onto Generation 3, we’re starting with Latias, the female counterpart to Latios. For this half of the iconic Legendary duo, you’ll be heading back to South Province (Area Four) where you found Ho-Oh.
At the southernmost edge of South Province (Area Four) is a hidden beach, indicated on the map by a thin stretch of sand. To find Latias, go to that secret beach and walk around until you find a huge rock decorating the shore: the red Eon Pokémon will be waiting patiently for you there.
Latios
Latios is the other Eon Pokémon and you’ll find it on the opposite end of the map to Latias. Instead of in the south, Latios is floating around North Province (Area Two).
On the western side of North Province (Area Two), close to where the dusty roads of the East Province are, is a small secluded area of land caught between two tall mountains. This area has a relatively large lake with a big tree in the middle (which you can easily see on the map). You’ll find Latios drifting aimlessly on the bank of this lake.

Kyogre
The next trio of Legendaries are the Forces of Nature, three powerful and classic Legendaries who represent the power and might of the natural world. Beginning with the Pokémon who controls the oceans, you’ll find the mighty Kyogre in the North Paldea Sea (which is actually in the very northwestern corner of the Paldea map).
Just off the coast of the Socarrat Trail is the North Paldea Sea, a section of water littered with large rocks and strange stone monuments. One of the most standout landmarks in this location is a trio of similarly shaped stones arranged in a triangle in the water. As if drawn to the mysterious sign, Kyogre will guard these stones and be available for you to catch, so long as you have the Kyogre Treat.
Groudon
The direct opponent to the sea is the land and, as such, Kyogre’s natural opponent is Groudon, the Continent Pokémon. You’ll find this Legendary Pokemon skulking around in the depths of Alfornada Cavern, a large network of caves beneath the town of Alfornada in South Province (Area Six).
Out of all 25 Legendaries in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Mask, Groudon is actually one of the trickiest to locate, largely thanks to the fact that it is underground. Your best bet for easily tracking it down is to enter the Alfornada Cavern entrance closest to Alfornada itself. Once you make it inside and pass the Hiker asking if it’s a nice day outside, look on the horizon for the bright yellow glow of a Tera Pokémon in the distance.
Eventually, you should spy the light of a Tera Umbreon on top of a suspended sheet of rock. Glide on over to this Umbreon but, instead of fighting it, move to the back of this platform where it meets the cavern walls. There you should find Groudon, enjoying solitude in the back of Alfornada Cavern.

Rayquaza
Rounding out the trio of the sea and land is the sky, bringing with it one of the mightiest and most popular Legendaries of all time, Rayquaza. Similar to Groudon, Rayquaza is one of the hardest to locate. You’ll find Rayquaza on the edge of the Great Crater of Paldea, specifically in South Province (Area Three).
The rim of the Great Crater is a fairly thick circle of rock and rubble, one which extends high in the sky. To find Rayquaza, go to the edge of the Crater in South Province (Area Three) and climb to the top. Then, walk around the rim until the Academy in Mesagoza comes into view in the distance: Rayquaza will be in that general area, looking out towards the most populated area in Paldea from high above.

Cobalion
Unfortunately, there aren’t any Legendaries or Mythicals from Generation 4 available in The Indigo Disc (likely because of Shining Diamond and Brilliant Pearl) so we’re jumping straight to Generation 5. The first of Unova’s list of Legendaries is Cobalion, one of the Swords of Justice. You’ll find it close to where you found Latios in North Province (Area Two).
Cobalion is actually really easy to track down if you know where to go. Starting at the Fury Falls Fly Spot, climb up the wall directly in front of you. When you reach the top, you should spy some large black and grey crystals jutting out from the mountains all around you and, beneath a tree near one of these large crystals, will be Cobalion
Terrakion
Terrakion is another one of the Unova Swords of Justice and, if you want to add to your collection of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll need to head on over to West Province (Area One).
West Province (Area One) is one of the largest single provinces in all of Paldea, filling a massive portion of Western Paldea. Terrarkion will be on the eastern side of the province, smushed against the edge of the Great Crater of Paldea. To easily reach it, start at the West Province (Area One) Watchtower and then book it directly east: eventually, after some rocky traversal, you’ll find the Cavern Pokémon waiting for you.
- Terrakion the Cavern Pokémon
- Terrakion Map Location
Virizion
The last Sword of Justice is Virizion, the Grassland Pokémon. To track down Virizion in The Indigo Disc, you’ll be heading to Tagtree Thicket, a dense forest outside of East Province (Area Three) which is now home to the base of Team Star’s Poison Crew.
Tagtree Thicket is split in two by a thin river which runs straight through it – there’s a much larger bottom half where the Poison Crew’s Base resides and then there’s a much thinner slice of forest at the top. If you want to find Virizion, you need to go to that top half of the Thicket. Once you’re here, you need to go to a tight corner in the northeast of the Thicket which is where Virizion will be peacefully grazing.
Reshiram
Of course, Generation 5 would be incomplete without the Dragons of Truth and Ideals, Reshiram and Zekrom. Beginning with the fiery Vast White Pokémon Reshiram, you’ll be venturing just outside Levincia into East Province (Area Two) to find it.
In East Province (Area Two), there are three different-sized streams which start from a source close to the Great Crater of Paldea. These streams all eventually run into the East Paldea Sea and, if you want to find Reshiram, they’re you’re best guide. Simply follow any of the rivers back from Levincia to the source.
When you get close to the start of the stream, you’ll have to climb up a cliff face with a large waterfall built into it. At the top of this cliff will be the Dragon of Truth, Reshiram.
Zekrom
The counterpart to Reshiram is Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokemon and the Dragon of Ideals. Zekrom can be found in South Province (Area Five).
The most noteworthy thing about South Province (Area Five) is the absolutely gigantic rock which rests at the bottom of the province, right next to the area’s Watchtower. At the top of this massive rock are many ruins and rare spawn spots for Dragon-type Pokémon, including our mark Zekrom.
Scale the giant stone, reach the top and then start wandering around until you find the dark shadow of Zekrom lurking nearby.

Kyurem
The last Unova Legendary Pokémon in The Indigo Disc is Kyurem, the Boundary Pokémon. Similar to Groudon, Kyurem can be hard to locate because it’s underground. To be a bit more specific, Kyurem is hiding in the Dalizapa Passage cave system.
To make this hunt as easy and painless as possible, start at the Dalizapa Passage v Centre. When you spawn in look right and you should see a tall slope leading further into the cave system. Go up this slope and then head left. This will eventually take you into a small bendy tunnel where a bit of the wall has been destroyed.
Once you’re there, walk over to the destroyed wall and peer down into the darkness below. Not only will you find a deeper part of the Dalizapa Passage but, if you have the Kyurem Snack, you’ll also find Kyurem waiting down at the bottom.
- Kyurem the Boundary Pokémon
- Kyurem Map Location
Solgaleo
Generation 6, like Generation 4, doesn’t make an appearance in Snackworth’s collection of treats. As such, we’ll immediately be jumping to Generation 7 and the Alola series of Legendary Pokémon, beginning with Solgaleo, the box art Legendary of Pokémon Sun. If you want to add the Sunne Pokémon to your collection, you’ll be heading to the Pokémon League.
Solgaleo is one of the easiest Legendaries to find in The Indigo Mask, mainly because it’s on top of an easy-to-reach building. Fly on over to the Pokémon League, jump on Koraidon or Miraidon and then clamber to the top of the League Building to find Solgaleo soaking in some rays in the middle of the roof.
- Solgaleo the Sunne Pokémon
- Solgaleo Map Location
Lunala
Lunala, the Moone Pokémon, is the other box art Legendary from Generation 7. Instead of being in the middle of civilisation, Lunala can be found enjoying some peace by the tide in West Province (Area Two).
Starting at the Porto Marinada PokémonCentre, make your way north until you reach the river which runs straight through the West Provinces. Hop the river, make it to the other side and then start going west towards where it meets the West Paldea Sea. Once you reach the edge of the cliff, Lunala will make itself known, resting beside a tree as it admires the waves in the distance.
Necrozma
The last Alola Legendary on our list is Necrozma, the creepy intergalactic Prism Pokémon. To find Necrozma, you need to go to Socarrat Trail in the northwest.
Socarrat Trail is an isolated area of Paldea to the north of Casseroya Lake and it’s an area predominately populated by yellow trees and grasses. However, there’s also a large mountain in the middle of the Trail, which you must climb to find Necrozma. When you reach the top, walk around and, eventually, the glistening form of the Prism Pokemon will pop up.
- Necrozma the Prism Pokémon
- Necrozma Map Location
Kubfu
The final three Legendaries available via Snacks in The Indigo Disc all come from the land of Galar. The first Generation 8 Legendary you can acquire is Kubfu, the main star of the Isle of Armor DLC. To find Kubfu, you’ll want to pay North Province (Area Two), particularly the Fury Falls, a visit.
Kubfu is, by far, the easiest Legendary to locate in the game. Simply teleport over to the Fury Falls Fly Spot and the fluffy little Wushu Pokemon will be standing right at the edge of the water by the wooden sign.
Glastrier
Glastrier is another Galar Legendary and the icy-cold steed of Calyrex from the Crown Tundra DLC. It, along with its ghostly counterpart Spectrier, is available to catch using Snackworth’s treats. To track down Glastrier, you’ll be going to the southern reaches of the Glaseado Mountains.
Close to the foot of the Glasedo Mountains, you’ll find a series of strange stone ruins. Getting to this spot is rather easy – just go straight south from either the Glaseado Gym or Paldea’s Highest Peak Fly Spot – and once you get there, you’ll be able to battle Glastrier who prancing around nearby.
Spectrier
Finally, the last Legendary you can obtain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disc is Spectrier, the Swift Horse Pokemon and the counterpart to Glastrier. You’ll find Spectrier south of the Dalizapa Passage, the same area where you found Kyurem.
Playing into its ghostly undead nature, Spectrier can be found at the entrance to a series of abandoned ruins in the Dalizapa Passage. These ruins are pretty easy to see on the map and, if you start at the Dalizapa Passage Pokemon Centre, you can easily reach them by climbing the tall cavern walls with your trusty Koriadon or Miraidon.
That was where to find all 25 Legendary Pokémon from the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disc DLC.
