B Is For Boy will be released on the 1st of September. It is published by Insight Editions, written by Andrea Robinson and is illustrated by Romina Tempest. The book is an age-appropriate retelling of the 2018 game that has Kratos and his son travel through the lands of Nordic mythology to rest the ashes of Atreus’s mother. B Is For Boy features educational lessons for children. As the publisher explains, “Kratos teaches his son Atreus the ABC’s of the nine realms,” and Kratos also “fills the book’s pages with the essential vocabulary from the world of the game”.
In an interview with Polygon, Romina Tempest explained a little more about B Is For Boy. Tempest’s “focus was to try and recreate the same father and son relationship between Kratos and Atreus through their expressions and body language”. While Tempest insists that the book is kid-friendly for the most part, Tempest does warn that there are a few pages where you might want to cover your child’s eyes. This very much mirrors the game, which can get gory at times but is always centered on the delicate relationship between Kratos and Atreus.

Similarly, 2005’s God of War and its sequel God of War II also received novelizations. However, those texts were written by
The world of God of War is an expansive one with rich lore and a wide variety of characters. Luckily, the accompanying books can help you understand more about its mythical realms.
