Xenoblade Chronicles 3 | How to Get the Consul N and M Outfits for Free Without Amiibo

The final major update for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been released alongside the worldwide launch of the Noah and Mio Amiibos. Alongside fixing some long-standing bugs such as the cooking not actually working, this last update also gives players something they’ve wanted since the game launched: the ability to dress Noah and Mio up in their Consul outfits, the same ones worn by N and M. Ever since we got a tease of a playable version of M’s outfit in Chapter 6, fans have been ravenous with their requests to see these outfits in the game, with it being at the top of many wishlists for the Expansion Pass. Well, with the launch of the Amiibos, the dream has become a reality.

If you own the Noah and Mio Amiibos, the Consul N and M outfits can be yours instantly, alongside some additional outfits for all six Ouroboros members. However, don’t be alarmed if you haven’t been able to get yourself these Amiibos just yet as you aren’t locked out of acquiring these outfits. Instead, you’ll just have to work a bit harder to get them, completing some seriously tough (and grindy) challenges to get your hands on these much sought-after additions to Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Here’s how to unlock the new Consul N and M outfits for Noah and Mio in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 without needing to own or use the Amiibos.

Where to Find Miibomii, the Amiibo Merchant

The latest update added a new Nopon NPC to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 called Miibomii. You’ll find this humorously named Nopon at the Llyn Nyddwr Camp in the Fornis Region, which is also where the portal to the Archsage’s Trials from the DLC can be found.

When spoken to, Miibomii will ask you to regale them with tales of your journey so far. These tales are, in fact, ways for players to earn Amiibo exclusive cosmetics without needing to own, or use, those Amiibo. In total, there are four Amiibo exclusive cosmetics that Miibomii will award you with, each with its own challenge. Those Amiibo are:

  • Pyra Amiibo: Aegis Sword: Pyra (Swordmaster Attachment)
  • Mythra Amiibo: Aegis Sword: Mythra (Swordmaster Attachment)
  • Noah Amiibo: Consul N Armor and Kevesi Leisure Time Outfits
  • Mio Amiibo: Consul M Armor and Agnian Leisure Time Outfits

If you already have these Amiibo, simply slap them down on your Switch and you’ll instantly receive the cosmetics. For those unlucky few who don’t have access to the Amiibo, this is your only way to get the cosmetics for free.

As for what type of challenges you need to complete to satisfy Miibomii, it varies. To obtain Pyra’s Aegis Sword, you must “Master the Power of Ouroboros” which means getting every skill in the Interlink Soul Tree for all six main characters. Meanwhile, to get Mythra’s Aegis Sword, you need to “Master your Blades” which means getting the Ultimate version of the Swordmaster, Zephyr, Medic Gunner, Tactician, Heavy Guard, and Ogre weapons.

That just leaves the Consul N and Consul M outfits which, unfortunately, are the trickiest to obtain but for different reasons.

How to Get the Consul N’s Armor Outfit for Noah in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

First up, let’s discuss how to unlock Consul N’s Armor outfit for Noah. When equipped, this outfit will let Noah look just like his counterpart N, complete with the unique gold Consul armour. While wearing the outfit, Noah will still retain his usual ponytail hairstyle, foregoing N’s crazed, wild hair.

To get the Consul N Outfit for Noah in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you will need to collect seven Nopon Seven-Star Medals. This will also unlock the Leisure Time outfits for Noah, Lanz and Eunie. Once you have them, speak to Miibomii and choose the “Obtaining precious accessories” option to claim your new outfits.

Nopon Seven-Star Medals can be earned by trading with Seekseek at the Sage’s Domicile in the Fornis Region. One Nopon Seven-Star Medal will cost you 77 Gold Nopon Coins, meaning that you need a total of 539 Gold Nopon Coins to obtain all the medals you need. Considering the fact that the cap on Gold Nopon Coins is 99, many players likely won’t have anywhere near enough coins to get the Consul N outfit promptly.

Gold Nopon Coin Farming Method

When it comes to farming Gold Nopon Coins, there are two main methods you can choose. Most of your Gold Nopon Coins would have come from non-repeatable methods such as opening containers, beating Unique Monsters for the first time, completing certain quests and more but, if you want to earn Coins repeatedly, your best bet is to either run the Archsage Trials in the Land of Challenge or to try and use the Burst Reaction on Superbosses.

The first method is the more straightforward of the two. In the Land of Challenge, the DLC area where you meet the Nopon Archsage, you can acquire Red Noponstones and Blue Noponstones by completing Time Attack challenges and the Archsage’s Gauntlet, respectively. These Noponstones can then be taken to the Pize X-Change Nopons who will give you 1 Gold Nopon Coin per 2000 Noponstones you give them. The Gold Nopon Coins on offer in this manner don’t have a finite limit, meaning that you can continually trade in Noponstones until you get all the ones you need.

Of the two Noponstone colours, Red Noponstones are far more efficient to farm. Time Attack levels are a lot shorter and easier to cheese with the right builds than the long drawn-out fights of the Gauntlet, allowing players to drain the Archsage for all he’s worth at a better pace. Specifically, the Heroes Frontline Challenge awards 4000 Noponstones for an S Rank clear (or 6000 on Hard) and can be completed quite efficiently in under a minute with a Lucky Seven build. If you want more information on this method specifically, check out this video by Krark CI on YouTube where they clear Heroes Frontline in 36 seconds, including their builds and strategies in the comments.

Trade Red Noponstones for Coins

Aside from the Land of Challenge, the other main method of getting repeatable Gold Nopon Coins is by Bursting Superbosses. Burst is the alternative reaction combo chain to Smash.: if you Break, Topple and then Daze an enemy, you can hit them with a Burst ability, such as the Thaumaturge’s Demise Thrust, to end the combo chain, forcing them to drop a ton of items and removing their Enraged effect temporarily. These items can include Nopon Coins but, if you want Gold Coins, you’ll need to fight the game’s five super bosses – Aionios’ Strongest. These are the only enemies who have a chance of dropping Gold Nopon Coins on Burst.

If you’re willing to put in the time and effort to make an efficient build, the Red Noponstone farm is likely going to be a much better method of quickly acquiring the Coins you need to get the seven Nopon Seven-Star Medals. Just be aware that, no matter what, you’ll likely be spending at least a few hours getting the materials you need so that Noah can suit up in his Consul gear.

How to Get the Consul M’s Armor Outfit for Mio in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Opposite Consul N is Consul M, Mio’s counterpart, and she has a different unlock requirement for her outfit. Similar to when Noah equips N’s outfit, the Consul M outfit will allow Mio to don the silver Consul outfit, the same one she wore during the early portions of Chapter 6. This also means that this is the first time you can combo Mio’s short hair with the Consul uniform, with her long hair being the default while she was M.

To unlock the Consul M outfit for Mio in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you need to beat the level 150 version of Seraphic Ceratinia, the toughest super boss in the game. Like before, completing this will also unlock the Leisure Time outfits for Mio, Sena and Taion. The option you must pick when speaking to Miibomii if you want to claim your rewards is “Taking down a mighty monster”.

If Noah’s was the more grindy of the two outfits to earn then Mio’s is the more combat-intensive, requiring you to beat a boss that is over 50 levels higher than the maximum level. Seraphic Ceratinia is the final super boss in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, only becoming available once you have beaten Aionios’ Strongest, four incredibly tough bosses hidden around the map: if you want a more detailed breakdown of how to find and beat Aionios’ Strongest, including Seraphic Ceratinia, check out our XC3 guide on the subject here.

Once you’ve beaten Seraphic Ceratinia at least once (with that first fight being level 120), return to its Named Grave to challenge the Superboss again. This will increase its level to 125. If you beat it again, you can challenge once more to now raise its level to 130. In total, you’ll need to beat Seraphic Ceratinia five separate times before it becomes available to challenge as a level 150 fight. As such, come prepared for the long haul and with your best classes, equipment and Heroes because you will certainly need it.

While it is possible to simply brute force this boss with the right team composition and equipment (we recommend running a Healer Hero like Fiona or Nia to greatly improve your survivability potential), Seraphic Ceratinia is capable of being cheesed for an easy kill. To be more specific, very hyper-specific team compositions and strategies are able to defeat Ceratinia, even the level 200 variant, in a matter of seconds using a Launch reaction combo which deals millions of damage in a single hit. As we said, this method is hyper-optimised and will require a lot of work and effort to achieve correctly: if you want to see this Launch kill strategy in action and understand a bit more about how it works, look at this 10-second boss kill by Hamidu and then check the comments for an in-depth explanation by user MaxAutoAttack
