Tough bosses are a staple of the Souls series and Elden Ring’s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is no different. Scattered around the Lands of Shadow are some of the most fearsome enemies you’ll ever encounter in FROMSOFT’s repertoire, with that list including the lost warriors of the Nameless Mausoleums. These ancient fighters have all, in one way or another, lost either their names or their hearts. There are four Nameless Mausoleums in Shadow of the Erdtree and they all afford you the opportunity to undertake challenge boss fights with the promise of some excellent loot on the other side.
One of the warriors housed in these Mausoleums is the Dancer of Ranah, an elegant fighter who battles with the Dancing Blade of Ranah in a beautiful, deadly duet of blades. Not only will the Dancer give you a run for your money in a fun, frantic boss battle, but she’ll also award successful combatants with one of the DLCs most interesting weapons and armour sets. All you need to do is track down her Nameless Mausoleum, which we’ll guide you to in this article.
Here’s where to find the Dancer of Ranah in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Southern Nameless Mausoleum Location in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The Dancer of Ranah is one of four legendary fighters trapped within the Nameless Mausoleums in Elden Ring’s Land of Shadow. You’ll find her in the Southern Nameless Mausoleum, on a secluded island just off the Cerulean Coast.
The Southern Mausoleum is surrounded by the ocean, meaning that you cannot access it by just wading across the water. Instead, you’ll need to find a secret underground passage near the shore by the Cerulean Coast West Site of Grace. This passage will take you below the surf and allow you to cross over to the island containing the Southern Mausoleum safely: just be wary of the Giant Lobster which will spring from the ground just as you’re about to leave the cave.
Once you arrive at the Mausoleum, prep your buffs and get ready to fight the Dancer. Don’t worry about dying as there’s a Stake of Marika right at the Mausoleum’s entrance, allowing you to try and try again if you happen to fall.

Dancer of Ranah Boss Fight
Dancer Moveset
The Dancer’s signature move is the Unending Dance where she will spin her blade around herself whenever you get near. This attack general comes out as a three-hit combo but it can go on for far longer if you don’t evade away in time: getting hit by one attack in the combo will almost always mean getting hit by at least three or four other sword strikes so try and roll away from the Dancer when she approaches you.
Another one of the Dancer’s main attacks is her flame spray attack. This is the same attack you can conjure by using the Perfumed Oil of Ranah item found just outside the Southern Nameless Mausoleum. In it, the Dancer will spray several fiery projectiles in front of her in a fan shape. Fortunately, you just need to dodge as the flames are being cast to avoid them. Even better, if you dodge towards the Dancer as she’s casting, you can roll under the fire and get in close for some extra cheeky damage as she’s recovering.
Aside from these two attacks, the Dancer will also sometimes do a gap closer in the form of a jumping slash. She will leap into the air before rushing towards you with both blades drawn. To avoid it, dodge to the left or right so that you don’t get caught by her blades when they hit the ground. Finally, like all other humanoid enemies, the Dancer will retreat to heal after you deal enough damage to her. She can only do this once per battle and you can turn it into an excellent free damage opportunity if you’re fast enough.

Tips and Tricks for the Dancer
Even compared to other humanoid enemies in Elden Ring, the Dancer is pretty tricky to hit with ranged attacks. Because she can play at both close and medium range, she’s usually too close to safely execute a ranged spell or Ash of War; meanwhile, if you try and hit her while she’s far away, she’ll easily dodge your attack and begin to close in on you. If you’re determined to use ranged attacks to finish off the Dancer, make sure to wait until she’s either mid-animation or recovering from an animation, such as her flame spray, before committing.
Thankfully, the Dancer has pretty low Poise, allowing heavier weapon classes or weapons with long Ashes of War to utterly dominate this encounter. For example, the Mesmer’s Assault Ash of War from the Spear of the Impaler substantially damages the Dancer and can even stun-lock her if you land every hit of the combo. Similar feats can be accomplished with other larger weapons like Greatswords or Colossal Weapons.
Lastly, aggression is a massive boon in this encounter. The Dancer’s attacks are all clean and well telegraphed so you should be able to learn her openings rather quickly. Pair that with her low Poise and insistence on staying close to you, and the Dancer can become a relatively easy target to trade blows with. Stay close, dodge, and then quickly punish each of her various attacks and you’ll soon get the win over the Dancer of Ranah.
Dancer of Ranah Rewards
Dancing Blade of Ranah Curved Sword
For defeating the Dancer of Ranah, you’ll receive her weapon as well as her armour set. The former is the Dancing Blade of Ranah, a special Curved Sword with a very unique Ash of War. The Dancing Blade scales entirely off of Dexterity, with it reaching A scaling from level +6 and upwards.
In one-handed mode, the Dancing Blade functions similarly to any other Curved Sword, except its Heavy Attack which acts more like a sharp pirouette. You can also choose to dual-wield the Dancing Blade of Ranah, which will allow you to wield one blade in each hand. This transforms the weapon’s entire moveset, allowing you to perform several short dancing attacks by doing subsequent Heavy Attacks.
Finally, we have the Dancing Blade of Ranah’s Ash of War, Unending Dance. When cast, you will perform the same wonderous blade dance that the Dancer of Ranah performed on you during your battle in the Mausoleum. This attack is fast, allows you to remain quite mobile, and deals a lot of Poise damage if you continue the combo. The special part about this attack is that so long as you have the Stamina (and FP), you can continue this attack indefinitely, carrying on the deadly dance for as long as you want.
Dancer Armor Set
The other reward you’ll get for defeating the Dancer of Ranah in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the Dancer Armor Set. This beautiful crimson attire will let you don the same outfit as the Dancer herself.
Each piece of the armour set is very light, with the heaviest piece (the Dancer’s Dress) being only 3.1. Furthermore, each piece in the set has relatively high Magic, Fire, Lightning, and Holy Resistance, with some middling physical defences in return.
Another more interesting detail about the Dancer’s Armor Set is that each equipped piece will increase the damage of your dancing attacks. Any Ash of War with the word “Dance” in its title will benefit from this bonus and the list includes the likes of the Dancer’s own Unending Dance, Eochaid’s Dancing Blade, and even Milenia’s Waterfowl Dance. As for how much of a boost you’ll get, here is the increase in damage of Unending Dance with the Dancing Blade of Ranah at +0:
- No Dancer Pieces: 84 damage
- 1 Dancer Piece: 87 damage
- 2 Dancer Pieces: 92 damage
- 3 Dancer Pieces: 97 damage
- 4 Dancer Pieces: 101 damage
That was where to find the Dancer of Ranah and how to obtain the Dancing Blade of Ranah and Dancer’s Armor Set in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
