Joining the Crimson Fleet can be a task that’s easily acquired once you finish your vanguard training, and opens up the black markets to you. While expanding your arsenal keep in mind that these missions demand smuggling, piracy, and brutality. If you can stay on their path though, the Crimson Fleet offers riches and power, unlike any other faction. Entering The Fleet

Primarily, if you want to get into the Crimson Fleet you are going to have to work with the U.C. as an informant. Unfortunately, this means that you have to run a steady balance between good and evil unless you want to upset the military you work for. To do this, you’ll need to commit a few crimes after completing your Vanguard training. This will open up the quest line which sees you infiltrating the Crimson Fleet. Joining the fleet will see you smuggle some Aurora onto Mars, and sell it to a Fleet contact.

Once you’ve done this you will have to intercept a medical transport and either kill a former member or send him to the U.C. for questioning. Either option will see you in a gunfight with Ecliptic which after finishing will have you given the location of the Key. This is the main hub for the Crimson Fleet and sits over the prison where they were initially housed. Here you’ll meet the leadership and have a free run of the place.

Kryx System

When entering the Kryx system, you’ll be entering Crimson Fleet territory in its strongest position. In this land of lawlessness, you’ll find the Key, the space station orbiting the Lock. The Lock is the prison that houses the prisoners who founded the Crimson Fleet. Here you’ll meet the entirety of the major leadership that makes up this merry band of pirates. You can also find a wide variety of black market goods and ship parts that can’t be found in most settled systems. The Kryx system is a great place to have on your ship map if you want to offload contraband or purchase digipicks. Unfortunately, this system’s prices can be rather high given the nature of who funds the markets.

Commander Ikande *Spoiler*

Commander Ikande can be found on the U.C. Vigilance and heads the anti-piracy division. He is your way into the Crimson Fleet as he makes you an informant.

Like most ports, the Key offers players most of the standard amenities other planets have. For starters, you can modify, buy, and repair ships through Jazzy the resident mechanic. You can sell and buy items from four different shops including a trade authority merchant, a great place to sell stolen items or contraband. Additionally, you can find ship schematics here which can’t be found in most places. Finally, you can access the Nova which has Bog’s Grog, one of the best carry-weight items in Starfield.

Perks Of The Fleet

When you join the Crimson Fleet you have a few perks that come with it, all of which benefit the player greatly. For starters, other members of the Crimson Fleet will leave you alone giving you open access to loot in their outposts. Secondly, you can purchase multiple pirate ship designs including the Eclipse, one of the best cargo haulers in Starfield. Third, you get access to black market traders who will buy and sell fenced goods and contraband. Finally, the Crimson Fleet offers access to several unique quest-related ship modifications including an electromagnetic field shielding system. Altogether, the Crimson Fleet also allows access to pirate missions which can fetch you a hefty amount of credits.

Like any other faction, the Crimson Fleet has its own companions you can take with you. In addition, their quest lines give you a unique look at their history, their motivations, and how they operate. You can make a quick profit through criminal means with the Crimson Fleet. The faction asks you to fight against the system, and in doing so you make some powerful friends and even more powerful enemies. So if you want an evil character, the Crimson Fleet is the best alternative playthrough.

Black Market/ Illegal Parts

One of the best perks of being in the Crimson Fleet is the vast array of modifications and black-market goods available to them. You’ll have an unhealthy supply of weapons, armor, ships, and ship parts that will help you overcome the colonized systems. The Key is by far one of the best places in the galaxy to acquire smuggling-related ship parts and overpowered weapons illegal in most systems. To go along with this, you’ll have access to a wide network of black market vendors across many systems that can fence goods for you. Unfortunately, most of these shops come at a steep price but are worth it considering the connections you’ll make.

Crimson Fleet Connections

To go with these black market vendors, you’ll have access to a vast collection of information brokers and mission givers. When it comes to credits, these brokers often need work done. You can get into most underworld places through the Crimson Fleet. If you’re looking to offload some contraband or score some points, don’t be shy about mixing in with their ranks. To go with this, you’d be surprised just how many individuals find themselves aligned with this band of pirates.

Fleet Protections

Because you joined up with the Crimson Fleet, other members of its pirate outfit will leave you alone. This means even in an open fight between another faction you’re aligned with, you’ll be spared. These protections come in handy when you want to gain the spoils of their battles as they will let you have the loot. Unfortunately, these protections do not protect you from committing crimes against the fleet such as theft or murder. Even though they tolerate crimes committed, they make sure they don’t hurt their own members. The interesting thing about these protections is that they’ll actively help you if they see you getting attacked. Then again, other factions can also operate on this premise, so space fights are ultimately avoidable.

Unique Ship Schematics and Weapons

Along with their black market status goods, there are a few Crimson Fleet-specific items such as the Eclipse transport vessel, and the Scimitar. Both are decent combat-class ships, but the Eclipse is a definite smuggling hauler. Along with this, there are a few interesting and unique weapons hidden among the vendors of the Key. In addition, you can pick up Bog’s Grog here, which can increase your carrying weight by twenty pounds for fifteen minutes. Only the Key’s resident bar sells this incredibly potent item. Here you will also meet one of the purchasable companions that’s of notable value.

Jessamine

One of the unique companions you can pick up is Jessamine, a smuggler hiding out in the Key. She is a resident pickpocket and on the run from zealots whom she tried to steal from. It’s notable that she has skills in stealth, stealing, and astronavigation which makes her essential for gameplay. On top of this, Jessamine has the unique ability to pickpocket NPCs and gives the player credits once and for a while. The more she likes you as a player, the more credits she will give you out of this interaction. On top of this, she is very decent with both pistols and melee weapons, favoring that or an energy rifle. You can purchase her companionship for thirteen thousand credits but you can be persuaded to go lower.

Piracy Missions

A unique benefit of joining the Crimson Fleet is access to the pirate mission board. This is like an underground criminal network of missions that allows you to gain contraband and credits for easy missions. These range from smuggling and destroying vessels to surveying areas and taking over outposts. You can complete these in any variety of manners, and when mixed with your contraband bulls, you stand to see a decent payout. Like most of the filler missions, these are random and refill themselves after a certain period of time. They allow the player to gain experience with the Crimson Fleet, as well as contraband items that may be hard to obtain.

Jessamine Griffin

Jessamine Griffin is a great companion you can take on once you make friends with the Crimson Fleet. As a great thief, and a great thinker she will help you in any occation!

Quest Related Ship Parts

There are two major ship parts you can acquire from doing the Pirate missions, one of which is the Comspike. This is a unique piece of equipment that can locate ships, and bypass security measures. The second unique piece of equipment comes in the form of an EMF shield which protects your ship from electromagnetic fields and weapons. Both of these can only be acquired by doing these quests for the Crimson Fleet, leading them to their ultimate goal! In this, you’ll have to outfit your ship with these powerful components in order to acquire their end-game result.

Crimson Fleet Lore/ Story *Spoilers*

When dealing with the Crimson Fleet, you are really dealing with a group of pirates who seek to take on the legacy of Jasper Kryx. They started with a simple prison riot where they overcame hard conditions in order to leave their icy prison. After this, they established themselves as the Crimson Fleet with the ships they were able to capture. This fleet makes itself into a fierce organization of bandits and mercenaries that make a living attacking others. Beneath this though is an ideal that through piracy they can live freely, and through Jasper’s legacy, they can become immortalized in history.

To this end, they are after Kryx’s Legacy, a Galabank transport vessel that lost itself in an EM storm. This is full of millions of credits that are protected by a series of robots and obstructions. With the legacy of Jasper Kryx at your disposal, you can either defend the pirates or take them down with the U.C. Along the way, you’ll have to steal parts, gain information, and explore the Lock. If you’re an informant, you can either give it to the U.C. or help the pirates.

Crimson Fleet Leader

Delgado is the main leader of the Crimson Fleet, who while being powerful as a charismatic leader, is also quite resourceful. He uses his brutal strength and charm to get things done in his search for Kryx’s legacy. He is a no-nonsense, and violent individual who prefers results over bickering. Delgado can be found in the Key’s command center and doesn’t often leave besides a handful of missions. He is one of the more aggressive individuals in the fleet, and constantly Belittles his subordinates. That being said he sees the fleet as his family and protects them with his life.

Naeva is the second in command of the Crimson Fleet, and an incredibly energetic individual. She enjoys profit, and getting things completed as she has a like-minded personality to Delgado. Unlike her leader, she sees the Crimson Fleet as more of a means to cut loose and gain the highest amount of profit. To this end, she often tries to undermine Delgado and gain scores on the side. While he doesn’t seem to particularly care about this, she obviously seems to take control of the fleet for herself. Naeva will be the individual who ultimately recruits you into the Crimson Fleet, and who you get most of your missions from. Outside of Delgado and the Piracy boards, she is the quickest way to gain experience within the fleet.
