Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Replaces Side Quests With World Events

There will be nearly no side quests in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Instead, we will get world events as a replacement. These spontaneous activities will hold a major part across Norway and England as players explore the lands in the shoes of Eivor and his clan of Vikings.

Eivor and an other Viking in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed maps get bigger and bigger, especially with some of the latest installments like Odyssey. These vast worlds hold plenty to do, like side quests. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will ditch side quests, at least for the most part, and focus on world events.

In an interview with Gamespot before Ubisoft Forward, narrative director Darby McDevitt, he explained it was to serve the narrative. As the Vikings, like the protagonist Eivor, are not natives, they are invaders. The locals will not go to these people who are raiding their home country of England for help.

World events will be more surprising rather than you hunting some marker on your map down to get an optional objective. We don’t quite know how this mechanic will work out, but we have seen sieges and other activities in the latest trailer, which might give us some hints at what to expect, even if it isn’t related to these spontaneous events.
