The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla title update 1.2.0 will be released tomorrow (March 16th). This will bring a new event in the form of the Ostara Festival, the much-requested transmog feature, new skills, a close camera option and many game improvements. The size will be around 14 GB depending on your platform, and will deploy at 8 AM EDT.
The Ostara Festival, or Easter, will offer a spring-theme to your settlement of Ravensthorpe. Plus some new side activities which will offer special rewards. This is set to go live on March 18th and end on April 8th; more details will be shared on Thursday. It’s expected that it will be similar to the Yule Festival that took place over the holiday period. Although considered lacklustre by some, the event did add some new things to do for those who had done everything already, and the seasonal makeover to the settlement was refreshing.
From Tuesday, players will be able to change the appearance of gear and weapons. The ability to swap the visual “look” of one item with another has been requested by fans since the game launched. The feature will likely function similarly to how it did in AC Odyssey. So, for example, if you find an armour piece that you love the look of, you can equip an item with better stats but maintain the appearance of the one you like. This can be done at Gunnar’s blacksmith in Ravensthorpe for 50 silver. You can identify items that have been changed by a star icon displayed in your inventory.
There will be three new skills added with this update:
- Fearless Leaper – this increases the damage area of the leap attack and allows you to do it at any height.
- Raven’s Loot – the loot from targets killed by ranged attacks will be gathered by your raven.
- Loot Food – this will increase your chances of looting food from bodies.
The last of the new features is the option for a close camera. During regular gameplay, the camera will be closer to Eivor but will zoom out as usual when in combat. This can be turned on or off in the gameplay menu.
This Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update includes a lot of fixes and improvements. Including changes to balance, quests, graphics/ audio, river raids, gameplay, UI and performance. There are well over 100 individual improvements, so be sure to check the full patch notes (linked above) to check if an issue you’ve encountered has been addressed.
