Resident Evil Village: Where to Find All Goats of Warding Guide

Find out where to locate all collectibles for the Heretic and Cynic trophy or achievement with this Resident Evil Village goats of warding guide. You can complete this challenge over multiple playthroughs, but there are some tricky locations that you might have missed in Capcom's newest title.

Resident Evil Village Where to Find All Goats of Warding Guide cover

Capcom may have cut a lot of content from Village, but it still has plenty of time-consuming collectibles to be found. This Resident Evil Village goats of warding guide will help you find the twenty statues as quickly as possible to unlock the Heretic trophy or achievement. Destroying one goat will also unlock the Cynic trophy or achievement.

The statues can be collected over multiple playthroughs, in any order, so don’t worry if you were only a few away from completing the challenge. Remember to knife when you can to conserve your precious ammo. The guide is in the same order as you unlock the locations while playing through the story, so you can easily tick them off as you go along. Exact locations are also described if backtracking to check an area.

Where to find all goats of warding in Resident Evil Village

1. The Graveyard – Village 1F

You will come to the main part of the Village after speaking to the old lady for the first time. Head straight forward, past the Maiden of War statue, and you will see a glowing altar. Go to it and knife the first goat of warding. Make sure to read the plaque underneath if you are collecting all the files for the Bookworm trophy or achievement.

3. Fallow Plot – Village 1F

After acquiring the key item in the church, head out the back door and follow the path to the Fallow Plot. Go to the north-easternmost corner (when looking at the map), and you will see the collectible on top of the back wall.

4. Vineyard – Village 1F

After escaping the Lycans in the mine, you will come to the Vineyard outside Castle Dimitrescu. Turn immediately right and walk until you reach the edge of the map. Along this area, opposite a scarecrow, the goat is hiding between a tree and a rock.

5. Castle Dimitrescu – Basement B1

After solving the statue’s puzzle in the Hall of Ablution, head down the ladder. When you reach the bottom, turn around and the collectible will be in the corner by some candles.

6. Castle Dimitrescu – Attic RF

Once you have solved the 5 bells puzzle in the Atelier, head through the opening where Lady Dimitrescu’s portrait was. Then, climb up the ladder to the attic. When you reach the top, turn around and you will find the statue on top of a crate.

7. Under Lone Road stairs – Village 1F

After the Lady Dimitrescu boss fight, you will walk to a bridge with some Lycan enemies. Either kill them or run past them to the stairs on the left. Keep following that path until you are in an alcove under the bridge. There is a goat hidden in the darkness here, but it’s very hard to spot. Try crouching or turning your brightness up if you’re having trouble finding it.

8. West Old Town – Village 1F

You can find this goat of warding in Resident Evil Village soon after using the handle on the tractor and crawling under it. Turn right and keep following that path. You will face more Lycans here, but they are easily dealt with with a mine or two and a clip of handgun bullets. After defeating the enemies, you will reach an area with a gate that has a padlock on it. Knife the padlock, head inside, and in the middle of the two buildings in front of you is the statue.

14. Collapsed Windmill in Moreau’s Reservoir – Village 1F

Make sure to get this goat before you leave Moreau’s Reservoir because you can’t come back once you ride the elevator back up. When you are done talking to Heisenberg on the TV, return to the docking area where you got the boat from. The place will now be drained of water, and you can walk across into the collapsed windmill. Right outside the back door of this dilapidated windmill, turn left to destroy the statue on top of some rubbish bags.

Once you’re back in the main area of the Village, go to the north-western gate that requires the Six-Winged Unborn key to open. When you see the “Good Luck” sign, turn left. Keep going until you reach the river, and then turn right and follow the river to an alcove underneath Otto’s Mill. The collectible will be on a well-lit altar.

16. Stronghold – Buildings B1

17. Heisenberg’s Factory, Ventilation Duct – Buildings B2

This goat can be found after the room where you have to shoot the orange lights to turn off the deadly fan. You will soon trigger a small scene where Ethan is getting sucked in by a fan. Shoot the middle of it to turn it off. After Ethan lands, turn around and head to the very back of the Ventilation Duct (the circular part when looking at the map). The statue is in the middle, to the left of some rusted scrap.

18. Merchant’s Elevator in Heisenberg’s Factory – Buildings B3

Hunting for the goats of warding in Resident Evil Village isn’t too bad until you reach this bad boy. When you get to the outside of the elevator with the merchant in it on B3 in Heisenberg’s Factory, there is a very well hidden goat amongst the metal rafters of the elevator, found to the left of a ladder. Head back to the door you came from to get the statue in your view, and then use your sniper rifle to destroy this sneaky collectible.

19. North of Cargo Bay in Heisenberg’s Factory – Buildings B1

After defeating Sturm, you will come to a small area with a few control consoles and files scattered around. Turn left when entering the room, and you will see Heisenberg’s Diary. To the right of this is a hole in the wall that you can go through. The statue is found through here on top of a barrel, besides some metal scrap on a table.

20. Playing as Chris – Room With the giant Megamycete

Continue playing normally as Chris until he throws an explosive at the Megamycete in a cutscene. Directly after this, turn right and head over to the spikes found in front of a statue. The last collectible is at the bottom of this statue and will have to be shot to destroy it.
