The Yiga clan are a group of evil Sheikah that can be found within multiple recent titles in The Legend of Zelda franchise. This includes Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity, and Tears of the Kingdom. Within Tears of the Kingdom, they like to sneak attack Link, and often disguise themselves as regular Hylian NPCs to attack unsuspecting players. Most of their forces live in the depths now, but they can still pose a threat to Link on the surface.
Fortunately, Link can also disguise himself as a basic Yiga Footsoldiers to trick them into thinking he isn’t the hero of legend. The Yiga clan armor set will allow you to sneak into their bases without any need to fight their army of soldiers, and none of the disguised Yiga roaming Hyrule will jump out to attack you while you wear it. You’ll even be able to the the Yiga Clan Exam near the Suariwak Shrine to become a Yiga Blademaster, Collecting the Yiga clan armor set will, however, require infiltrating a few small Yiga hideouts. This of course means going toe-to-toe with a few Yiga foes along the way. There is a different Yiga bases for each part of the Yiga disguise; the mask, the upper body armor, and the tights.
Here’s where to find the Yiga clan set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find Yiga Clan Hideouts
There are many Yiga settlements within the depths, but none of those will be necessary to obtain their equipment. The Yiga only have a few bases on the surface, and a few of them contain maps which have four red X marks on them. These marks indicate their four main bases of operation on the surface, however, only three of these are important when it comes to collecting their armor.
You can ignore the red X in the lower left corner of the map since it does not contain any of the Yiga armor pieces. Instead, focus on the other three areas. The world of Hyrule in Zelda TotK is quite large, so players may need to travel a lot for this questline.
Yiga Mask Location
The first part of this armor set can be found on the Great Plateau. Returning fans of The Legend of Zelda series will recognize the Great Plateau as the tutorial area in Breath of the Wild. It is a large plateau to the south of Hyrule Field and north-west of Lake Hylia. There are only three shrines on the Great Plateau this time around, and two of those shrines are hidden within caves. this means you may need to travel quite a bit to reach this area. The Yiga hideout that you’re trying to find is where the Woodcutter’s house once was in Breath of the Wild which can be spotted from on top of the Temple of Time. It is near a rock to the south.
There’s quite a bit of fencing around the base which will hurt you if you try climbing onto it. There are a few ways of getting over it, but the easiest is to climb up a small hill near the back side of the building. Prepare for battle once you’re over the fence. Trying to open the door will spawn two Yiga soldiers who you must defeat. The one is a common Yiga Footsoldier, and the other is a Yiga Blademaster. Talk to the tailor NPC named Pitar inside to receive the Yiga mask.
Yiga Footsoldier and Yiga Blademaster Combat Tips
- The Footsoldier is the weaker of the two, but taking him out first can make it easier to fight the deadlier opponent.
- Both foes like to teleport, but won’t attack for a brief moment upon doing so. Try using this opportunity to attack them.
- Be careful of the Blademaster’s ranged attack. He will hit the ground which causes a Link-seeking earth attack.
- Don’t leave the fenced-in area around the Yiga clan hideout since going too far away may make you have to restart the fight.
Yiga Armor Location
The upper body part of this armor set can be found within the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. This is Robbie’s old lab which he used in Breath of the Wild. It is sitting on a cliffside in the very far north-east corner of Hyrule. Getting here is quite simple since there’s a road connecting it to the East Akkala Stable and Tarrey Town. The only threats along the way are a few Moblins,
Two Yiga clan members will attack you once you knock on the front door, and unfortunately the other entrance is sealed off entirely. These are the same type of enemies that spawned at the woodcutter’s house, so defeat them the same way you did before. Speak to Konba inside the building to receive the shirt part of the equipment.
Yiga Tights Location
The last piece of the Yiga gear is in a cave on Aldor Foothills. You can find this hillside near the west side of Lost Woods at the top of the map. The Kiuyoyou Shrine is the closest fast travel location to this area. There will be an NPC walking around the cave’s entrance. This NPC is actually a Yiga Footsoldier in disguise. Avoid talking to the NPC until you get the full Yiga armor set, unless of course you do wish to fight them.
Entering the main room at the end of the cave will activate a cutscene with two Yiga members. It’s a Yiga Footsoldier and Yiga Blademaster just like the other bases had. Defeating them will let you move around this hideout which is a little larger than the others. The smaller room on the left side contains a journal that hints a secret chamber’s location. It says “remember – follow the eyes of the frog”. This means to look at where the eye symbol on a frog statue in the main chamber is pointing. It’s aiming at a hole on the ceiling. Use ascend to reach this secret room.
This room contains an NPC named Aliza. Talk to her to get the final piece of the Yiga disguise. There’s another book in this room which offers some insight on how different divisions of the Yiga clan work for those interested in the lore of their gang. Now that you have the full set, you can now access higher tier Yiga hideouts. This includes the one behind a waterfall at Zirco Mesa.
Upgrading the Yiga Armor Set
Each part of the Yiga clan armor set only has 1 defense stat to start with, but you can upgrade all three pieces at a Great Fairy Fountain. You can use this guide to help you unlock all the Great Fairy Fountains. Each piece of equipment can be enhance four times if you found all four Great Fairies. 2-star Yiga equipment gains the Night Speed Up ability. This means you will move faster during the night. That combined with the Stealth Up set bonus that the armor comes with makes this gear useful for swiftly sneaking past enemies. 4-star Yiga equipment will each have 12 defense. That’s not a lot when compared to other armor sets, but the aforementioned abilities make up for its lackluster stats. This piece of equipment can also be dyed, although changing its color doesn’t yield any additional stat benefits.
