One of the great many things about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is how many different things you can collect on your journey through Hyrule. Whether it’s cool, unique weapons (which will undoubtedly break in about 3 swings) or fancy gemstones that can be sold at high prices, there’s always something to find. The coolest things to dredge up, though, are the many different armour sets and outfits Link can acquire. From woolly coats to heavily armoured tunics, there’s so much variety in what Link can wear in TotK. Some of those outfits are even a bit nostalgic, calling back to the older games in the Zelda franchise and the Hero of the Wind set is one such example.

The Hero of the Wind set replicates the famous outfit worn by Link in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. While it’s lacking the cartoony, cel-shaded visuals, this outfit looks right at home in the world of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. Instead of sailing around on the King of Red Lions, you can wear this iconic garb as you stomp around Sky Islands or fell the deadly beats lurking below Hyrule’s surface. To do that, though, you need to find all three pieces, first.

Wind Waker Set

The Hero of the Wind set is one of the many Tears of the Kingdom outfits which harkens back to the glory days of the Zelda franchise. Similar to the Hero of Time and Hero of the Sky sets, the Hero of the Wind allows Link to dress up in one of his most recognizable outfits: the clothes he wore back in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. While the art style has changed and Link has grown since those days, the outfit is distinctly Wind Waker and fans of that beloved game will love stomping around Hyrule in this armour set.

Every piece in the Hero of the Wind set has 3 defence at the base level, putting you at 9 defence altogether with the full set equipped. This puts it on par with many other early-to-mid-game sets like the Hylian Set. You can upgrade each piece to a higher defence stats if you manage to locate a Great Fairy Fountain, given that you have the rare materials necessary for upgrading of course.

Now that we’ve seen and admired the full thing, where can you find each piece of the Hero of the Wind set in Tears of the Kingdom?

Complete Hero of the Wind Set

Set Location

To obtain the Hero of the Wind set in TotK, you’ll have to do some exploring in the Depths. If you’re already an avid adventurer and have been exploring the Sky Islands, you may have already found some Old Maps hinting at where some of these pieces can be found. Several Sky Island Archipelagos hide a series of chests which contain Old Maps that point to various areas in the Depths where armour and other goodies can be found.

Fortunately, you can ignore these altogether if you want. You don’t have to find a single map to grab the Hero of the Wind armour. They are simply there to give curious players a little guidance.

To find each of the pieces of this armour set, you’ll be venturing deep into the Depths. Two are on the eastern side of the Depths, while one is on the western front.

Cap of the Wind

The Cap of the Wind is certainly going to be the trickiest piece to get to, simply thanks to how isolated it is. You’ll find the chest containing the Cap in Tears of the Kingdom on the far eastern edge of the map, in an area of the Depths under a string of small islands. The main issue, though, is that there is only 1 entrance to this part of the Depths.

The Chasm entrance you need to enter is on Tingel Island. To reach that entrance, head to the Akkala Highlands and go to Tarrey Town. Once you arrive, head south until you see Rasitakiwak Shrine, which is located near a hill which should give you enough height to glide over to Tingel Island.

After you’ve made it to Tingel Island, look around for a hole in the floor which will lead you to the Tingel Island Depths. This area of the Depths is very dark and the pathways connecting each of the areas are filled with rocks. You can easily do this with Bomb Flowers, heavy bludgeoning weapons or the power of the Fire Sage.

If you’re having a tough time navigating, use the surface-level map to give you an idea of where the connecting tunnels will be. Once you’ve pushed through to the other side and are underneath Davdi Island, the first chest will be waiting for you with the Cap of the Wind inside.

Tunic of the Wind

The next piece in the Hero of the Wind set is, fortunately, much easier to get. To reach it, you need to go to the opposite side of the map, all the way to the far west to the Cuho Canyon Mines. This area of the Depths is located underneath the Hebra Mountains, an area which, annoyingly, has very few Depths entrances.

As such, the best way to get here is to take the Hyrule Ridge Chasm entrance near Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. Once you touch down in the Depths, start making your way westward. If you keep going straight west, you’ll eventually stumble across the Kataki Lightroot which is overlooking the Cuho Canyon Mines to the north.

Then, all you need to do is glide down and claim your prize. The Tunic of the Wind is in a chest sitting on a stone podium inside the Cuho Canyon Mines.

Trousers of the Wind

Finally, we have the Trousers of the Wind in Tears of the Kingdom. The Trousers of the Wind are located in, quite literally, the most south-eastern part of Hyrule (not counting Eventide Island).

This area of the Depths is also very sparse with Chasm entrances. As such, the best one to take is the Meda Mountain Chasm Entrance. From here, you need to make your way southeast past the Abandoned Lurelin Mines and towards the area of the Depths which aligns with Soka Point.

Now, things get a little tricky. The chest is across a big pool of water which, while possible to swim across with a lot of stamina, will make things difficult. This is especially true considering that there’s an Octorock on the other side, waiting to snipe you as you get close. Fortunately, there are a bunch of Zonai devices nearby which you should be able to use to cobble together some sort of raft or boat to carry you to the other side.

Make it across safely and the Trousers of the Wind will be yours in Tears of the Kingdom

That was where to find all three pieces of the Hero of the Wind set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
