The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has some great references to previous Zelda games. Between ridiculously strong weapons like the Dusk Bow to whole armour sets celebrating the outfits of past incarnations of Link to small in-jokes here and there, there are plenty of things for Zelda fans to revel in as they take to the skies or venture deep into the Depths. We’ve already discussed one callback to the beloved The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (that being how to get Majora’s Mask itself) but there’s another one in TotK where you can get the complete Fierce Deity outfit for Link to wear.
The Fierce Deity set is another incredible call back to an epic moment in Zelda’s history, one where Link was at his strongest and most vicious. Now, in Tears of the Kingdom, you can don the gear of the Fierce Deity as you roam around Hyrule, crushing your foes with devastating power while looking good as you do it. Before you can ascend to that level, though, you’ll need to find the Fierce Deity set which can be tricky to do.
Here’s where to find all three pieces of the Fierce Deity set and how to complete Misko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Fierce Deity Set
The Fierce Deity set in Tears of the Kingdom is an interesting armour set. Modelled after the form Link takes while wearing the Fierce Deity Mask in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, this outfit provides Link with some of the best attack buffs in the game, representing the immense strength the mask transformation once offered him. Between the cool blue tones of the cloth, the heavy use of metal and armour and the glowing white eyes, the Fierce Deity set looks fantastic and is a great fit for any wishing to set up their Zelda fashion game.
In terms of tangible benefits (outside of looking cool, of course) the Fierce Deity set has 3 defence at the base. However, a Great Fairy can upgrade the defence given you have the right resources and materials. For this outfit, you’ll need Scales from each of the three different dragons (Dinraal, Naydra and Farosh) as well as Hinox Toenails. What’s more interesting, though, is that each piece of the set grants Link one stack of Attack Up. This drastically increases your damage with all weapon types. Wear the entire Fierce Deity set if you want to sweep through the lands of Hyrule like a force of nature.
Now that we’ve seen the Fierce Deity set in action and know what kind of power it has, how can you find it in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
How to Start Misko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity
While you can go off and find each piece on its own, it’s more beneficial to begin a certain quest before going hunting. Not only will this give you some hints as to where each piece of the Fierce Deity set is located but it will also allow you to earn an extremely powerful weapon at the end of all this.
To begin, head to the Foothill Stable which can be found between the lands of Lanayru and Death Mountain (there’s a Shrine called Kisinona Shrine nearby for easy teleportation). Once you’re there, head north to the location shown below where you’ll find two people sitting outside a cave. They’re lamenting their current situation, babbling about some kind of treasure that they were unable to locate.
Speaking to them, or trying to enter the cave in question, will begin the quest for Misko’s Cave of Chest. This is the preliminary quest you need to complete before progressing with the Fierce Deity quest.
Inside the cave are a lot of chests… like, a lot. There are probably over 30 chests here and you need to find a specific one containing Misko’s hidden treasure. Meanwhile, opening the wrong one will award you with a single Green Rupee. If you want this process to go faster, check the buried chests buried near the back of the cave. Feeding the dog outside the cave will also work, as the hound will sniff out the correct chest for you. Honestly, though, you can just loot every chest in the room for some free money if you’re willing to waste a few minutes plucking chests from the ground.
Eventually, you’ll stumble across the right one and earn the Ember Trousers, one of Misko’s signature treasures. If you want to know where to find the Ember Tunic, check out our guide on Misko’s Treasure of Awakening for more information. Upon finding the Trousers, the two adventurers from outside will come in to marvel at your miraculous luck. They’ll pull a different item from the chest: a glass bottle containing a message from Misko. This message contains three hints as to where the different Fierce Deity pieces can be found.
Interacting with this bottle will start the Misko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity quest. Now, we can finally begin searching for the Fierce Deity set in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to Find the Fierce Deity Set in Tears of the Kingdom
How to Find the Fierce Deity Mask
The first piece of the Fierce Deity set we’ll be going after is the Fierce Deity Mask. The clue related to this piece talks about how it can be found in “the skull’s left eye.” This is referring to Skull Lake in the northern parts of Deep Akkala. Unsurprisingly, this lake is shaped like a skull, including two landmasses where the eye sockets would be located.
The right eye is home to a Chasm Entrance leading to the Depths, but the left eye is a massive spire of rock. You need to reach the top of this spire to continue the quest and reach the Fierce Deity Mask. Under normal circumstances, this would be too tall to climb and there aren’t many areas close by to glide from.
However, there are a few ways to get up there. The first is to glide over from Death Mountain: you should have just enough stamina to make it if you jump from the back half of Death Caldera. Another method is to climb the spire but make stops along the way. There are a lot of grooves and pieces of uneven rock where Link can stand, giving you some time to catch your breath and regain your stamina.

- The Tall Left Eye
However you decide to get up there, once you reach the top of Skull Lake’s left eye you’ll spy a hole in the top of the spire. Jumping down this hole will lead to the Skull Lake Cave, a dark, damp area filled with skeletal Stalkoblins. This cave really only has one main path so continue following it deeper, dealing with the skeletons whenever they come to bother you.
Eventually, you’ll reach a large open cavern after smashing down a rock wall. This area has a skeletal Stalmoblin stomping around as well as a very dangerous Stalnox. You can choose to fight these enemies or try and ignore them because the location you’re looking for is a shrine-like structure at the centre of the room. It’s been built on a tall piece of rock, letting you escape from the nearby enemies.
This structure is housing a chest which, when claimed, will give you the Fierce Deity Mask.
How to Find the Fierce Deity Armor
The next piece we’ll be searching for is the Fierce Deity Armor. The clue related to this piece says that it can be found “beneath the bedchamber of Akkala’s red-crowned citadel.” The citadel in question is the Ancient Citadel Ruins in the South Akkala Plains. This area is completely desolate, filled with broken buildings of what was once a rather lovely place. Be careful wandering around this place as there’s a Thunder Gleeok close by and this is an area where the dreadful Gloom Hands may spawn.
What you’re looking for in the Ancient Citadel Ruins is a tiny hole in leading to an underground cave. The easiest way to find it is to look for a building with a wooden box sitting on top of a yellow blanket. From here, walk around to the side of the building where you should be able to find a small hole leading into this room.
- Armor Chest Location
- A Crack in the Wall
Once you step inside, you’ll spot another opening on the floor leading to an underground area of the Citadel. This is the Akkala Citadel Ruins Summit Cave and all you need to do is jump down into it. There’s no big puzzle, no long cave full of enemies, just another shrine-like structure waiting to give you your reward.
This will net you the Fierce Deity Armor in Tear of the Kingdom.
How to Find the Fierce Deity Boots
Lastly, we have the Fierce Deity Boots in TotK. The final clue talks about how the third piece is “in an old stump in Hyrule Field.” The old stump in this message is the Ancient Tree Stump at the top of Mount Daphnes in Hyrule Field. This is very close to the Lookout Landing, allowing you to get here pretty quickly.
Once you reach the Ancient Tree Stump, you need to cross a bridge made of logs and jump down deep into the stump itself. This will take you to the Ancient Tree Stump Cave, an area filled with twisting tree roots and a waterlogged floor. There are several rooms and offshoots of the main area but the one you need to keep an eye out for is a pathway blocked by vines.

- Into the Ancient Oak
Use a slashing weapon to cut the vines and head deeper down the revealed pathway. From here, your journey through the cave will be an upward one. Continue following the tree roots further up into the cave until you see a familiar-looking shrine at the end.
Waltz on over, open the chest inside and you can claim the Fierce Deity Boots for yourself.
With all three pieces of the Fierce Deity set in your possession, head back to the Cephla Lake Cave. While wearing the whole Fierce Deity set, a locked door here will now open. This new room contains a chest holding a deadly weapon to complement your new gear: the Fierce Deity Sword. Picking up the Fierce Deity Sword will complete the quest.
This two-handed weapon has 38 base attack. Its unique helix design is based on the weapon Link wielded while in the Fierce Deity state in Majora’s Mask. While it doesn’t do anything particularly special, it pairs excellently with the armour and is a strong weapon for the whole game.
That was how to find all three pieces in the Fierce Deity set in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
