Routes
There are another twelve routes to go through, so let’s make it as painless as possible. Keep in mind that if you take the route the NPC suggests, you’ll get an extra coffer for another chance to get a better reward. When you’re choosing the a path, the bosses mechanics will change based on what you do and random events. With the left path, Yozakura (the first boss on every path) has different abilities based on the random weather event immediately prior to it. It will either be windy or rainy. In the middle path, their abilites will be based on whether you pull the rope before opening the door to the shrine. Finally, for the right path, the abilitles change where or not you remove the dogu in the tree.
Route 1
“Gift of the Onmyoji”
- Take the left path.
- Continue down the path until you get to a room with a crystal ball. Do not touch the statues, but interact with the crystal ball.
- In the next room, close the case after Hancock inspects it.
Route 2
“The Crimson Sword”
- Take the left path.
- Continue down the path until you get to a room with a crystal ball. Do not touch the statues, but interact with the crystal ball.
- In the next room, ignore the case after Hancock inspects it.
Route 3
“A Tale of Dead Men”
- Take the left path.
- Continue down the path until you get to a room with a crystal ball. Rotate the Seiryu statue so it faces east (facing the Suzaku statue). Rotate the Suzaku Statue so it faces south (the wall with the door behind it). Finally, interact with the crystal ball.
- In the last set of enemies in the Upper Pagoda area, allow the Apa to cast Water III before defeating it.
Route 4
“Forging a Legacy”
- Take the left path.
- Continue down the path until you get to a room with a crystal ball. Like the last path, rotate the Seiryu statue so it faces east (facing the Suzaku statue). Rotate the Suzaku Statue so it faces south (the wall with the door behind it). Finally, interact with the crystal ball.
- In the last set of enemies in the Upper Pagoda area, interrupt or defeat the Apa before it casts Water III.
Route 5
“The Luthier and the Songstress”
- Take the middle path.
- Before the second boss, you’ll be offered a deal after defeating some enemies. Choose “Deal” to spare the baboon.
Route 6
“Lost of Avarice”
- Take the middle path.
- Before the second boss, you’ll be offered a deal after defeating some enemies. Choose “Think about it” and defeat the baboon.
Route 7
“Beyond the Lanterns’ Light”
- Take the middle path.
- After defeating the tiger, climb the “mountain of crates” and pull the rope.
- Wait for Hancock in the upper floor, then defeat the lantern enemies normally.
Route 8
“The Common Man’s Courage”
- Take the right path.
- Ignore the Rokkon Sentinel.
- After the first boss, interact with the 4 Stones of Protection along the path.
Route 9
“Sound of the Stone”
- Take the right path.
- Ignore the Rokkon Sentinel.
- After the first boss, ignore with the 4 Stones of Protection along the path.
Route 10
“The Seal of Silence”
- Take the right path.
- Interact with the Rokkon Sentinel to remove the dogu from the tree.
- Use the Eastern Bow (/ebow or /easterbow) in front of the unmarked shrine next to the fallen tree. Place the dogu in the shrine once you’re allowed to.
- Interact with the Iwakura.
Route 11
“Seasons of the Fleeting”
- Take the right path.
- Interact with the Rokkon Sentinel to remove the dogu from the tree.
- Use the Eastern Bow (/ebow or /easterbow) in front of the unmarked shrine next to the fallen tree. Place the dogu in the shrine once you’re allowed to.
- Interact with the Ancient Tree.
Route 12
“The Ogiseru’s Fate”
- Take the middle path.
- After defeating the tiger, climb the “mountain of crates” and pull the rope.
- Wait for Hancock in the upper floor, then pull the lantern enemies down to where the room with the tiger painting.
- Each enemy need to be defeated individually while they are facing each of the three unlit lanterns in front of a gold wall panel. Make sure they’re close enough to hit the lamps.
If all they’re all lit, a fourth lamp with then light. Interact with it to teleport to the hidden boss area.
Possible Rewards
There are several rewards for each path you can take, including the triple triad cards for the respective bosses. Exclusive furnishing items and the minions Okuri Chochin, Shiromaru, and Kuromaru are all drops from the personal spoils from inside Mount Rokkon. Once you have taken all the paths, you’ll get the achievement “Mononopeke” so be sure to collect the mount. It will be the Burabura Chochin.
When you get 81 potsherds, you’ll be able both Shishu outfits. For 9 potsherds each, you’ll be able buy the Scrupulous Citations emote and the Looping in the Distance Orchestrion Roll. For 6 potsherds, you can get the Ambitious Ends hair style. Finally, with 3 potsherds, you can get the Rose-colored Spectacles.
