IO Interactive recently revealed the third location that Agent 47 will be traveling to for the upcoming game Hitman 3. This new location for the World of Assassination trilogy is Chongqing, China, and looks to tout a unique neon-lit style for the franchise. Accompanying the reveal of this new level, IO Interactive also announced some graphical upgrades coming in Hitman 3. Their video titled “Under The Hood” details some of the enhancements coming as a result of improvements to their Glacier game engine.
In the video, fans get a glimpse of the upgraded visual fidelity through the design of this new Chongqing level. We can see the advancements in lighting and reflections, as well as new water effects. IOI also mentions improvements to animations and increased amounts of AI characters in certain levels.
All of these advancements in visual fidelity and immersion are thanks to new hardware. Both new consoles and PCs will be able to take advantage of up to 4K resolutions and 60fps gameplay. Additionally, all of these visual and gameplay updates will be coming to Hitman (2016), and Hitman 2 levels as they join the new locations available in Hitman 3 by importing them to the new game.
Hitman 3 is set to release on January 20, 2021.
