IOI’s Hitman trilogy has been critically and commercially successful since the first reboot in 2016. This month, the trilogy wraps with Hitman 3, a title poised to bring this thematic arc to its end. But that’s not all that’s in store for players. Today, the developers have released a gameplay trailer showing that the title will integrate PSVR support by means of a Sandbox level, through which players will be able to play the entire trilogy in virtual reality.
Hitman 3 will release on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series S/X, Google Stadia, and PC. A cloud-based version will also release on Nintendo Switch. At this time there is no word on additional virtual reality platform support.
What I really like from watching the trailer is that the gameplay seems to be physically accurate. Most people are not incredibly skilled assassins, and it’s nice to see that the physicality of the title doesn’t turn the character into some sort of superhero. The gunplay looks clumsy, as it would be in real life. The series is all about stealth and tactics, and the virtual reality component seems to handle that well.
Preorders are open now at participating retailers, with the digital Trinity Pack as a bonus. This provides players with three slick suits for Agent 47: crisp white, full black, or a nice blood-red color. If you’ve got PSVR, this looks to be a massive bang for your buck.
