Death Stranding Gets a Surprise Xbox Release on Fifth Anniversary

Kojima Productions gave the fans of Death Stranding a surprise Xbox release on the game’s fifth anniversary. The game is now available on Xbox Series X and S. Xbox players can finally enjoy Death Stranding after it has been a Sony exclusive since it was released five years ago.

Now, Death Stranding Director’s Cut is available on Xbox Series X and S. This surprise Xbox release of Death Stranding was accompanied by a 50% discount on the game. The game was first released on PS4 in 2019 and then it came to PC users in 2020. It was later available on PS5 as well in 2021 with the release of the Director’s Cut back then. Before Death Stranding’s surprise release on Xbox, the game was made available earlier this year for Apple devices. Now, the addition to Xbox is the latest one when it comes to platforms.

With Death Stranding Director’s Cut finally released on Xbox, players of the platform will get to enjoy the game plus the additional features. In the Director’s Cut version, players will find new gameplay features along with crossover content with Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077. Following the surprise release of Death Stranding on Xbox, it’s time to look at the future of the game. Previously, Kojima Productions has announced that they now own Death Stranding’s IP. “Kojima Productions will continue its focus on bringing their award-winning IP, Death Stranding to more platforms and audiences,” were the words shared in a press release.

While Hideo Kojima has also said that “Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned.” Death Stranding‘s latest release also leaves fans with some questions about the future of the game. The highly-anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, could now possibly have an Xbox release as well. This isn’t the only thing in store for the game. It has also been announced that Death Stranding will get a live-action film from A24.
