Subnautica 2 – How to Make Strong Acid

Learn how to make Strong Acid in Subnautica 2 through your Base's Processor and how to efficiently farm its materials.

Subnautica 2 - How to Make Strong AcidSubnautica 2 players must make Strong Acid, as you won’t find this item spawning in the overworld. Visit your Base and choose one of two recipes to craft Strong Acid through your Processor.

One recipe is to use two Necrolei Cysts and wait 30 seconds. Alternatively, you may use one Gold and one Sulfur, then wait 60 seconds.

1. How to Get Strong Acid in Subnautica 2

A menu screen in the Alternate Recipes section of the Processor showing how to craft Strong Acid with 1x Sulfur and 1x Gold

The Alternate Recipes menu allows you to create Strong Acid with 1x Sulfur and 1x Gold.

If you already have a Processor at your Base, go interact with it. One crafting method is available in the Refinement section, and the other is in the Alternate Recipes section. Both methods will give you Strong Acid in Subnautica 2.

  1. Use 2x Necrolei Cysts under Refinement: This will take 30 seconds to complete.
  2. Use 1x Gold and 1x Sulfur under Alternate Recipes: This will take 1 minute to complete.

After you start crafting either recipe, collect the Strong Acid through the Open Processor Output option on the right side of the machine.

How to get a Processor

You can scan a Processor in the Old Habitat up north of the Lifepod.

If you don’t have a Processor yet, then you need to unlock its blueprint. Thankfully, it only requires a single scan. You must have a Scanner in your inventory before proceeding. Once you’re ready, head out to the Old Habitat.

  1. Using the Lifepod as a reference, swim north.
  2. Continue swimming past the Angel Comb while making sure the top UI reads about 345.
  3. Dive further down until you get sucked into a current.
  4. Keep following the current.
  5. Once you reach the Old Habitat, swim underneath the building on the right.
  6. Enter the hole under the right building.
  7. Enter the northwestern room.
  8. Locate the Processor in the northwestern corner of this room.
  9. Scan the Processor.

You can now craft a Processor for your Base for 2x Titanium, 1x Mild Acid, and 1x Copper Wire with your Habitat Builder.

2. Where to get Necrolei Cysts for Making Strong Acid

Use a Survival Multitool to break open Necrolei Cysts in Subnautica 2

You need to use the Survival Multitool to break open the Necrolei Cyst for harvesting

Put a Survival Multitool in your inventory, as you need it to cut the Necrolei Cysts from on top of the Stilt Orbs. Use this route starting at the Lifepod to easily farm this harvestable:

  1. Start at the Lifepod as a reference point.
  2. Swim Northwest about 250m from the Lifepod.
  3. Look for green balls with purple tendrils. These are Stilt Orbs.
  4. Use the Survival Multitool to get the Necrolei Cysts that are on top of the Stilt Orbs.
  5. A few Necrolei Cyst locations are scattered near the wreckage, Northwest of the Lifepod.

You only need two Necrolei Cysts per Strong Acid that you wish to make in Subnautica 2.

3. Where to Get Sulfur and Gold in Subnautica 2

Sulfur is available near very hot locations, like the heat vents far east of the Lifepod

You can find Sulfur near very hot locations where heat warnings pop-up

Get Heat Tolerance before starting this farm route to survive the harsh temperatures here. Put a Sonic Resonator in your inventory since Sulfur and Gold are near each other, and the Sonic Resonator easily breaks apart large Gold deposits.

  1. Go East from the Lifepod.
  2. Continue going East until you notice a temperature reading on your screen.
  3. Sulfur looks like a golden rock and is typically found near heat vents.
  4. Tailings Village has several Sulfur rocks to break apart. This village is about 550m East of the Lifepod.
Gold looks like a strange golden coral in Subnautica 2, which you can break apart with a Sonic Resonator

Some Gold rocks can be found near Sulfur

The farming route near Tailings Village also has some Gold rocks to break. Subnautica 2 players should look for golden-looking coral, which is the Gold they could break apart. Look for Jelly Rings near heat vents to easily find both Gold and Sulfur, as several locations here feature at least one of those items.
