The Habitat Builder allows players to build bases in Subnautica 2. To unlock it, you scan two fragments and then craft the tool at a Fabricator. You must have the Scanner beforehand.
1. Where to Find Habitat Builder Fragments in Subnautica 2
The two Habitat Builder Fragments are very close to one another in Subnautica 2. Make sure you have the Scanner in your inventory before heading out to find them.
- From the default Lifepod spawning location, go southeast with the top UI being between 150 and 165.
- Keep swimming until you arrive at the Welcome Center.
- Go near the entrance next to the fallen Welcome Center sign.
- Equip your Scanner.
- The first object to scan is inside a metal crate near the fallen Welcome Center sign outside the entrance.
- Complete the scan with the PDA telling you that you are 1/2 with the scan progress.
- Turn left toward the abandoned building.
- Head inside the Welcome Center.
- Go into the left room.
- Go down underneath the Metal Salvage.
- The second object to scan is inside a small container, which is a little bit east of the Oxygen Tunic.
- Your PDA should now have an entry for the Habitat Builder.
How Many Habitat Builder Scans You Need
You only need two scans. After the second scan, you just need to craft this tool at a Fabricator.
2. How to Craft the Habitat Builder
Interact with your Fabricator to craft the Habitat Builder tool and go to the Personal section. You will need the following resources to craft this tool in Subnautica 2:
- 2x Titanium
- 1x Glass
- 1x Basic Battery
- 1x Copper Wire
3. Why the Habitat Builder Is Not Showing Up
Some gamers might not see this tool equipped. If that happens to you, make sure to check your inventory.
- Open up the PDA.
- Stay on the Inventory screen.
- Hover over the Habitat Builder.
- Equip it.
You may now build bases wherever you want in Subnautica 2, so long as you have the resources to build them.
4. What to Build First After Unlocking It
Find a suitable place where you want to build a base. Subnautica 2 players should build the following in their first base for convenience:
- Corridors and Rooms: Not only can they be safe places to regain oxygen, but you can put various facilities on top of them or inside them.
- Hatch: You need an entrance, or else you can’t enter your base.
- Fabricator: Lets you craft things without having to return to the Lifepod’s Fabricator.
- Bioped: Lets you respawn at your base.
- NoA Terminal: You can do missions here.
- Wall Locker: Lets you store items.
A Habitat Beacon is also useful to have if you haven’t memorized where your base is.
