Subnautica 2 – How to Get Troilite

Follow the best route to find Troilite in Subnautica 2 and collect the resource needed for Mangalloy Ingots, Tadpole upgrades, and advanced power items.

How to get Troilite Subnautica 2Troilite is a late-game mineral in Subnautica 2 used for advanced crafting, power items, and progression recipes. You cannot pick it up by hand like early resources. Instead, Troilite comes from breaking Mineralized Clinker, a glowing green industrial deposit found around the Metal Farms area in the far northeast Root Canyon Biome.

This is not an early resource. Bring the Tadpole, a depth upgrade, the Sonic Resonator, a Repair Tool, and healing items before farming it. The area is deep, dangerous, and patrolled by predators, with a leviathan nearby.

1. What Is Troilite in Subnautica 2?

Troilite

Troilite is a late-game mineral used in advanced crafting and story progression. The deposit you need to break is called Mineralized Clinker, and it appears around the Metal Farms area.

Troilite is mainly important because it is required for Mangalloy Ingot, which is needed for Metal Farm crafting and later power-plant progression. It is also used in advanced power and upgrade recipes, including Entangled Power Cell and Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2.

2. Best Troilite Farming Location

Troilite Farming location

Troilite Farming location

Troilite is found in the Root Canyon / Karakorum Metal Farms route. The exact farming spot is the Metal Farms area, a deep zone with a large glowing green pool, green industrial runoff, and alien metal-farm structures around it. This area is roughly 2,100 meters east of the Lifepod, or about 850 meters from the Alien Ruins marker.

This location is closer to the Axum Vision Angel Comb Adaptation. If you already have the Axum Vision Angel Comb Adaptation as a reference point, use it as the closer landmark. From the Comb, head north until you reach the green pool-like Metal Farms area.

How to Get Troilite from Mineralized Clinker

Destroying Mineralized Clinker

Destroying Mineralized Clinker

Troilite comes from Mineralized Clinker, not from a normal Troilite rock. Once you reach the Metal Farms area, check the rocks, ridges, and pool edges for green hardened Mineralized Clinker deposits.

  1. Progress until you can reach the Alien Ruins Research Base.
  2. Bring the Tadpole, because the route is far and around 450 meters deep.
  3. From the Alien Ruins Research Base, head northeast at around 75 degrees.
  4. Travel roughly 870 meters until you reach the Metal Farms area.
  5. Look for the large glowing green pool surrounded by pillar-like alien structures.
  6. Search the rocks and pool edges for Mineralized Clinker.
  7. Equip the Sonic Resonator and break the Mineralized Clinker.
  8. Collect the Troilite after the node breaks.

3. Does Troilite Respawn?

Crafting Metal Farm

Do not rely on natural Troilite respawns in the current build. The nodes appear limited, and it is unclear if they respawn reliably, so save at least one Troilite before crafting too many Mangalloy Ingots or other advanced items. Use the Metal Farm to produce more Troilite instead of depending on natural respawns.

How to Use Metal Farm

Using Metal Farm inventory

Using Metal Farm inventory

The Metal Farm is the safest way to avoid running out of Troilite. Once you unlock and build it, you can place a valid ore into the farm, wait for the timer, then break the produced node with the Sonic Resonator or Feedback Resonator to collect more minerals.

  1. Do not spend every Troilite immediately.
  2. Keep at least one Troilite in storage.
  3. Build a Metal Farm as soon as you can.
  4. Insert one Troilite into the Metal Farm.
  5. Use the Metal Farm to produce more instead of depending on natural respawns.

4. Troilite Uses and Recipes

Mangalloy Ingot recipe

Mangalloy Ingot recipe

Troilite is required for Entangled Power Cell, Mangalloy Ingot, Photovoltaic Charger, Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2, and Ultra High Capacity Air Tank.

Name Full Recipe
Mangalloy Ingot 1 Titanium Ingot + 1 Atacamite + 1 Troilite
Entangled Power Cell 1 Conduit Crystal + 1 Strong Acid + 1 Gold Ingot + 1 Troilite
Photovoltaic Charger 1 Copper Ingot + 1 Strong Acid + 1 Troilite
Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2 2 Dedicated Core + 2 Troilite + 2 Mangalloy Ingot
Ultra High Capacity Air Tank 1 High Capacity Air Tank + 3 Troilite + 3 Atacamite

5. Best Tips Before Farming Troilite

The safest route is to reach the Root Canyon biome / Metal Farms area, mine Mineralized Clinker with the Sonic Resonator, and save at least one Troilite for Metal Farm production instead of spending everything immediately.

  • Bring the Sonic Resonator, since Mineralized Clinker cannot be collected by hand.
  • Take the Tadpole with depth support for the roughly 450-meter-deep Metal Farms route.
  • Start from the Alien Ruins Research Base and head northeast toward the glowing green Metal Farms pool.
  • Search the rocks and pool edges for green Mineralized Clinker deposits.
  • Store at least one Troilite for Metal Farm production before spending the rest.
