Managing your growing collection of materials and outfits in Crimson Desert is much easier with the four new housing chests introduced in Update 1.04.00.
Tracking down the Kuku Cooler, Wardrobe, Collectibles Chest, and Sturdy Gatherables Chest requires completing specific faction quests, farming late-game resources, and building vendor trust.
1. All Storage Chests List
Use the table below for a quick overview of each storage option before hunting them down. All chests are placed inside your residence using the housing build mode.
| Storage Item | Capacity | What It Stores | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kuku Cooler | 40 to 1,000 Slots | Food, ingredients, provisions | A Special Blueprint quest |
| Wardrobe | 100 to 1,000 Slots | Outfits, armor | Furniture Vendor (Timberton) |
| Collectibles Chest | 1,000 Slots | Quest items, recipes, blueprints | Early Encounter quest |
| Sturdy Gatherables Chest | 1,000 Slots | Ores, herbs, wood, raw materials | Any Furniture Vendor |
2. How to Unlock the Kuku Cooler
The Kuku Cooler is a dedicated food storage chest added in Update 1.04.00, and it immediately ranks among the most useful quality-of-life upgrades in the game.
It holds ingredients, provisions, elixirs, and horse feed, so none of them clog your main inventory. The base version has 40 slots and automatically pulls stored items whenever you cook.
2.1. How to Complete A Special Blueprint
Getting the Kuku Cooler begins with a short faction quest in Hernand called A Special Blueprint, which falls under the Invention of the Workshop journal category. The quest becomes available after completing Chapter IV’s Mysterious Pot Questline.
Check your Private Storage for 5 Iron Ore, 3 Copper Ore, and 1 Azurite before you start to save a detour.
- Travel to Bloomwood Ranch in Hernand, northwest of Howling Hill.
- Speak with the Hernandian Guard soldiers near the light post outside the ranch.
- Make your way to the Kilnden Workshop, west of Hernand Town.
- Talk to the Kilnden Workshop Artisan, who hands you a Kuku Pot and the Kuku Cooler Blueprint.
- Open your inventory and read the blueprint to unlock the crafting recipe.
- Gather the required materials if you do not already have them.
- Speak to Grimnir at the workshop and craft the Kuku Cooler from his menu.
- Return to the artisan to finish the quest and receive the Enhanced Kuku Cooler Blueprint.
2.2. Kuku Cooler Crafting Materials
The Kuku Cooler requires four ingredients, all of which are relatively easy to source in Hernand. All three ores are common and close to the workshop, so mining them yourself with a pickaxe or drill is the faster option if your stock is low.
- Kuku Pot x1: Given by the Kilnden Workshop Artisan at the start of the quest.
- Iron Ore x5: Mine from deposits at the northern end of the river east of Hernand, near the Abyss Gate, or purchase from the Mineral Shop at Cairn House.
- Copper Ore x3: Found along both sides of the same river south of the Abyss Gate, or available from the Cairn House Mineral Shop.
- Azurite x1: Alongside the same river deposits, or also sold at the Cairn House Mineral Shop.
3. How to Craft the Enhanced Kuku Cooler
The Enhanced Kuku Cooler is a major storage upgrade, going from 40 slots to 330, with room to expand further to 1,000. The trade-off is that its materials are all late-game resources spread across different regions.
One of them is tied to a research unlock that only becomes available after Chapter XI, so expect to work toward this upgrade over time.
3.1. Enhanced Kuku Cooler Materials
You will need the following to craft the upgraded storage space:
- Kuku Cooler x1
- Brimstone x3
- Mercury x3
- Rubber x3
- Electrical Components x2
3.2. How to Get Brimstone
The Brimstone is collected from gas deposits at the Brimstone Springs and Brimstone Lake in northern Demeniss, near the Hexe Sanctuary. Completing the Veiled Witch Questline in Chapter IX clears the area and makes farming much safer.
There are also Hexe Brimstoneback Crabs nearby, and killing one typically drops 2 to 3 Brimstone directly.
- Find a deposit near the toxic pools that has multiple gas vents spewing fumes.
- Use Healing Force Palm to seal all vents except one.
- Stand near the remaining open vent and activate Nature’s Snare.
- Wait for the fumes to clear and gold sparkles to appear.
- Cancel Nature’s Snare and collect the Brimstone pile that forms.
- Repeat at different deposit locations until you have all three pieces.
3.3. How to Get Mercury
Finding Mercury will be the hardest among this list. It is locked behind research in Delesyia, which becomes accessible only after Chapter XI. Once you reach that point, a fully drained pool typically yields around 12 to 15 pieces, well above what you need.
- Complete the Basic Science Research in Delesyia.
- Begin the Mercury Research, which will pause halfway through.
- Speak with the researcher south of Delesyia; he will give you an Electromagnetic Frostspitter.
- Locate a liquid Mercury pool. One sits near Silver Wolf Mountain in Pailune; another is near the Hexe Sanctuary.
- Equip the Electromagnetic Frostspitter and freeze as much of the pool as possible before it shatters. A Frost Lv. 1 Elemental Charged Shot from your bow works as an alternative.
- Break the resulting frozen chunks with a pickaxe or drill to collect Mercury.
3.4. How to Get Rubber
You can harvest Rubber from Rubber Trees in the rainforest area northeast of Delesyia near Beardtree Gorge. The trees are large, leak liquid at the base, and have vines hanging from them. The main challenge here is time, as the Rubber takes several in-game days to form after you treat the tree.
- Find a Rubber Tree and locate the discolored cuts at its base.
- Use Healing Force Palm on every cut to seal them. Sealed spots glow orange with sparks.
- Wait six in-game days for the Rubber to finish forming.
- Return to the tree and harvest the Rubber.
3.5. How to Get Electrical Components
Electrical Components drop from Elite Mechanical enemies in Delesyia, specifically large mechas with drills or buzzsaws. Elite Clockwork Insects near the Gate of Peace in Chapter X also drop them. Large mechas have a chance to drop one component per kill, so plan for several runs.
Lightning Element attacks like Turning Slash or Explosive Arrows are the most efficient tools for taking them down quickly.
These are not standard pickups; you must use Axiom Force to grab the component and seal it inside your Kuku Pot. Make sure the Kuku Pot is in your inventory before farming. With all five materials collected, return to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop and craft the Enhanced Kuku Cooler from his menu.
4. How to Get the Wardrobe
The Wardrobe is one of four dedicated storage items added in Update 1.04.00, and it is the only one designed specifically for clothing. Each Wardrobe placed in your home provides 100 outfit slots, completely separate from your main inventory and Private Storage.
Outfits stored inside remain equippable directly from the housing interface without needing to transfer them to your inventory first.
4.1. Where to Find the Timberton Furniture Vendor
Head to Timberton in Delesyia, just north of the Eastern Hills. Look for the furniture vendor in a green tunic near the town. You can purchase the Large Dark Timberton Wardrobe and the Large Bright Timberton Wardrobe, each priced at 15 Silver Coins. You can buy as many copies as you want in a single visit.
4.2. How to Unlock the Wardrobe at Greymane Camp
Making repeat trips to Delesyia is inconvenient once you are deep into the game. Reaching 100 Trust with the Delesyia Furniture Vendor unlocks a Contract that brings Wardrobe sales to your Howling Hill Greymane Camp shop directly.
- Gift the Delesyia Furniture Vendor Copper Pouches to build Trust.
- At 100 Trust, purchase the available Contract from his stock.
- Return to the Greymane Camp Furniture Shop, and the Wardrobe will now appear there for future purchases.
4.3. Wardrobe Storage Capacity
The Wardrobe holds outfits and armor for all three playable characters: Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka. The same slot pool is shared across the trio, with the equip interface filtering by character. You can stack up to 10 Wardrobes in your house for a maximum of 1,000 slots.
This table lists the total outfit slots gained per Wardrobe placed.
| Wardrobes Placed | Total Outfit Slots |
|---|---|
| 1 | 100 |
| 2 | 200 |
| 5 | 500 |
| 10 | 1,000 (max) |
5. How to Get the Collectibles Chest
The Collectibles Chest is the easiest of the four storage items to acquire, handed to you as a gift at the end of a short two-step quest. It holds 1,000 slots exclusively for Key Items, Quest Items, Blueprints, and Recipes.
Books, notes, bounty posters, crafting blueprints, and keys can all go here without taking up space in your main inventory or Private Storage.
5.1. How to Complete Early Encounter
The Collectibles Chest is rewarded by completing the “Early Encounter” Faction Quest, found under Hernand Requests in your journal. Progress through enough House Roberts Faction Quests first if the quest marker is not showing up.
- Travel to the Timberturner Wainwright, located north of the Nas River in Hernand, within the Serkis Estate area.
- Speak with the servant NPC who calls out to you on arrival. He explains that Count Roberts has prepared a special gift for the Greymanes.
- Head to the Timberham Sawmill, west of Hernand Town. The location is marked on your map after the first conversation.
- Speak with the Noble at the sawmill. He presents you with the Collectibles Chest.
- The chest is added directly to your inventory under the Furniture tab.
6. How to Get the Sturdy Gatherables Chest
The Sturdy Gatherables Chest is the most straightforward of the four storage items to acquire. There is no quest, no crafting, and no prerequisite chain involved. With 1,000 slots dedicated to ores, herbs, wood, hides, and other raw materials, it removes the single biggest source of inventory bloat.
Materials stored inside can be pulled directly by crafting and refining systems. Multiple chests can be purchased and placed to exceed 1,000 slots if your gathering operation demands it.
6.1. Where to Purchase the Gatherables Chest
The Sturdy Gatherables Chest is sold at Furniture Vendors throughout Pywel, with the most convenient early option being the vendor at the Timberham Sawmill, southwest of Hernand Town.
Simply find a Furniture Vendor and purchase one for 50 Silver Coins. No faction quest progression is needed to unlock it in the shop.
6.2. Early Game Silver Tip
At 50 Silver, the chest is affordable in the mid-to-late game but can feel steep early on. Check the fireplace inside Lioncrest Manor, northwest of Hernand’s main city.
A gold bar is hidden there, and selling it at any bank nets 500 Silver, well above the chest’s cost and enough to cover other early purchases at the same time.
7. How to Place Storage Chests in Your Home
All four storage items available with Update 1.04.00 can be placed using your home’s housing mode. Your Hernand Residence, just east of Howling Hill Greymane Camp across the bridge, is available from Chapter III onward and is the earliest valid location.
The retrieve-all function added in Patch 1.04 pulls every placed furniture item back into your inventory at once, making rearrangement much faster. Keep in mind that meals must stay in your main inventory for usage, but raw ingredients can live in the Kuku Cooler permanently.
- Enter your residence and press Options/Start to enter Build Mode.
- Press Square/X to open your list of Placeable Items.
- Select your desired chest, then place it on any valid floor tile. Make sure the green arrow faces a direction you can actually access.
- Press Options/Start again to exit Build Mode.
- Approach the chest and interact with it to begin storing your items.
