Crimson Desert is a massive sandbox adventure RPG with loads of side quests and an enormous map. If you want to complete the entire main quest and some of the side content, you will be playing it for quite a while.
1. How Long is Crimson Desert?
Unfortunately, this is a pretty challenging question to answer, mostly because some people will focus on the main quest chains and others will spend a lot of time exploring the whole map. So these times are estimates based on player experiences.
- Bare Bones: To complete the main story quest, it’s about 60-80 hours.
- Midway: To complete the main story quest and some side content, it will be about 100-200 hours.
- 100%: This is hard to estimate, but some have put the hours needed as low as 300 and as high as almost 570 hours, which would give you one hour in each territory.
- The average player has played Crimson Desert around 20-22 hours a week since launch.

2. How Big is the Map?
While the exact dimensions of Crimson Desert‘s map are not known, the developers have given players a few hints. It is said to be about “twice the size of Skyrim” and larger even than Red Dead Redemption 2‘s huge map.
- Skyrim‘s map is about 40-41 square km (about 15-16 square miles)
- RDR2‘s map sits around an estimated 79 square km (30-31 square miles)
- This puts Crimson Desert in the vicinity of about 100-115 square km (39-43 square miles) based on estimates online.
- This includes the estimate size of the Abyss Map as well.

3. How Many Chapters is Crimson Desert?
There are fourteen chapters in Crimson Desert‘s main story line. You will spend about 7 hours on each doing the bare minimum. Each chapter has at least one quest chain and several quests in each chain.
