Crimson Desert adds 5 legendary mounts for players who want more than a standard horse, and Silver Fang is one of the most useful because it works as both a mount and a combat companion. This white wolf is built for players who want a more aggressive travel partner, trading pure speed for the ability to fight alongside Kliff during encounters.
Unlike normal horses, Silver Fang is not unlocked through taming. It is tied to a late Hernand questline and requires you to hunt the legendary wolf before crafting the item that permanently adds it to your mount wheel.
Silver Fang is a great mount for players who are looking to collect all legendary animals in Crimson Desert.
1. Silver Fang Mount Requirements
Silver Fang is locked behind a Hernand faction progress, so you cannot simply ride to its cave and claim it early. The important unlock is the House Celeste: Legendary Wolf questline, which starts with Silence From Afar. This quest appears only after major side-quest progress in the Hernand region.
Before looking for Silver Fang, work through the main Hernand faction routes and keep checking the Faction Quests tab. Here are the key Faction questlines you need to complete:
- Reach at least Chapter 4 and unlock the wider faction-quest progression tied to the Witch route.
- Complete enough House Celeste progress for the Legendary Wolf chain to appear.
- Complete House Roberts and House Alfonso questlines, since these feed into later Hernand faction progression.
- Progress House Serkis, including later routes such as Lord Amidst the Ruins.
- Complete the Vellua Fishermen’s Guild questline after unlocking it through Hernand’s politics progress.
- Progress Hernandian Parish of Solumen until the required Hernand faction chains open fully.
2. How To Start the Legendary Wolf Quest
Once the required faction progress is complete, open the House Celeste section in your Faction Quests tab and look for Legendary Wolf – Silence From Afar. This is the quest chain that starts the Silver Fang route. If it has not appeared yet, continue clearing Hernand faction quests instead of searching the cave early, because Silver Fang will not spawn before the chain advances.
Start the quest and follow the opening objectives around Hernand. The early part of the chain sends you to speak with NPCs before tracking the legendary wolf. Follow these steps:
- Open the Faction Quests tab.
- Go to House Celeste and start Legendary Wolf – Silence From Afar once it appears.
- Track the objective and speak to the woman near Springtide Mill, north of Howling Hill camp.
- Continue to the next objective and speak to the NPC at the North Gate in Howls from the North Gate Quest.
- Follow the quest until it sends you to track the Legendary Wolf, which is Black Fang.
3. Black Fang Location
Black Fang is the first legendary wolf you must defeat. This fight is required because Silver Fang only spawns after Black Fang has been defeated during the House Celeste questline. Black Fang also drops Leebur’s Soul, a key item that reveals legendary animal locations across the map.
The quest sends you toward the area north of Sage’s Peak. When you reach the marked zone, the exact wolf location is tracked through the lantern, not just the map marker. Use this process:
- Travel to the marked area north of Sage’s Peak.
- Clear nearby bandits first so they do not interrupt the fight.
- Take out your lantern and look for the thin golden tracking line within the search area.
- Follow the golden line until you find Black Fang with its wolf pack.
- Prepare for a two-part fight, because Black Fang moves after its first health bar is depleted.
4. How To Defeat Black Fang
Black Fang is fast, aggressive, and more dangerous than a normal wolf encounter. It attacks with rapid claw swipes, lunges, teleport movement, and support from nearby wolves. The safest approach is to clear pressure around you, avoid fighting near cliffs, and punish after Black Fang finishes its attack chain instead of chasing every movement.
Black Fang Bug Solution
Most players have reported the disappearance of Black Fang and his body after defeat, but it’s in fact that the fight has two phases. After you empty Black Fang’s health once, it teleports away. You must pull out the lantern again and follow the golden line to its second location.
One possible spawn is near a cliff by the Ancient Rift, so be careful if the fight moves toward the edge, because the encounter can become awkward if the wolf falls or despawns. After defeating Black Fang, you only get loot and Leebur’s Soul for tracking Silver Fang.
Tips to Defeat Black Fang
- Bring healing food before starting the quest fight.
- Clear smaller wolves when they surround you.
- Keep the camera locked on Black Fang when it teleports or lunges.
- Dodge sideways when it commits to a lunge.
- Avoid fighting too close to the cliff near the Ancient Rift.
- Use safe punish windows after claw strings rather than attacking during every movement.
- Defeat Black Fang and collect Leebur’s Soul.
5. Use Leebur’s Soul To Reveal Silver Fang
After defeating Black Fang, use Leebur’s Soul immediately. This item adds knowledge entries for legendary animals and marks their locations on the world map, which is what allows you to continue toward Silver Fang properly.
This step matters because Silver Fang is not just sitting in the world like a regular animal before the chain is ready. The Black Fang fight and Leebur’s Soul are part of the unlock flow. Use these steps:
- Open your inventory and find Leebur’s Soul.
- Use the item to reveal legendary animal knowledge and map icons.
- Check the map for the new wolf icon near Howling Hollow.
- Travel toward the Silver Fang location once the marker appears.
6. Silver Fang Location
Silver Fang is found at Howling Hollow after Black Fang has been defeated and Leebur’s Soul has been used. The location is described as being near the wolf icon that appears after Black Fang, around the area between Sage’s Peak and the Ancient Rift.
Silver Fang spawns near a cave and is protected by smaller wolves. The fight area can also include dangerous purple plants that drain health, so do not stand still in the arena while trying to trade hits.
7. How To Defeat Silver Fang
Silver Fang is not tamed like a normal mount. You must defeat it first, then skin the body to obtain the crafting material required for the mount sigil. This makes the fight the true unlock challenge, not a taming mini-game.
Silver Fang fights with smaller wolves around it and can pressure you quickly if you stay in the middle of the pack. Lightning attacks are useful because Silver Fang is weak to lightning and can be temporarily stunned. Arena hazards also matter, so keep moving away from the purple plants instead of forcing the fight into one place.
Tips to Defeat Silver Fang
- Bring strong healing food before entering Howling Hollow.
- Clear or control the smaller wolves first so they do not interrupt you.
- Avoid the purple plants around the arena.
- Use lightning attacks or Bow when possible to create stun openings.
- Dodge grab or lunge attacks instead of trying to face-tank them.
- Fight near safer ground, not directly inside hazard patches.
- Defeat Silver Fang, then skin the body to obtain the Fang of Silver Fang.
8. How To Craft Sigil of Solidarity (Silver Fang)
After defeating and skinning Silver Fang, take the Fang of Silver Fang to a Witch NPC. This is where the mount becomes usable. The fang is not enough by itself; it must be crafted into the Sigil of Solidarity (Silver Fang) through the Witch crafting menu.
Once crafted, the sigil is used from your inventory to register Silver Fang as a summonable mount. Follow these steps:
- Take the Fang of Silver Fang to a Witch NPC.
- Open the Witch crafting menu.
- Select Craft Abyss Gear and go to Special Items.
- Craft Sigil of Solidarity (Silver Fang).
- Open your inventory and use the sigil to register Silver Fang as a mount.
9. How To Summon Silver Fang
After using the Sigil of Solidarity (Silver Fang), Silver Fang becomes available from the mount selection menu. It is not summoned separately from a special item each time; it is added to the same mount selection system you normally use for your horse. To summon Silver Fang:
- Hold Up on the D-pad or open the character/mount wheel.
- Scroll through the mount slot where your horse is selected.
- Select Silver Fang and use the normal mount summon input to call it.
10. Is Silver Fang Worth Getting?
Silver Fang is worth getting if you want a legendary combat mount rather than a pure travel mount. It is not the fastest mount in the game and does not replace a strong horse for long-distance movement, but it is much better in fights because it can attack enemies and help pressure groups.
Silver Fang has 450 Health, 100 Stamina, 100 Attack, and 45 Defense. That stat spread makes it better as a battle mount than a speed mount.
