The Legendary Phoenix is one of the rarest bird pets in Crimson Desert and takes more work to unlock than the standard bird pets added in the new Patch 1.04.00. Instead of relying on the usual perch-and-trust setup, getting the Phoenix is tied to a special hunt in the Crimson Desert region and a follow-up crafting step that turns it into a usable pet.
1. How to Get Explosive Arrows
You need at least one explosive arrow before you go after the Phoenix. The clearest current route is to buy them from the Back Alley Trader in Tommaso, which is also on the way to the Phoenix hunting spot.
- Open your map and head to Tommaso.
- Go to the Back Alley Trader / Back Alley Shop in Tommaso.
- Buy explosive arrows from the trader. The shop sells two explosive arrows, which are enough to attempt the Phoenix hunt.
- Make sure you have Charged Shot unlocked; otherwise, go to Skills and unlock it.
- Equip Explosive Arrows by going into your inventory.
2. Legendary Phoenix Location
The Phoenix is found in the north of the Crimson Desert region, just south of Trader’s Expanse. The area is a small ravine-filled crater — wait on the large stone pillar in the center so you can see the Phoenix clearly when it flies by. It usually flies alongside other birds, so look out for birds in the area.
3. How to Get the Legendary Phoenix Pet
After equipping the explosive arrow ammo and reaching the Crimson Desert region, you need to take down the Phoenix flying around the mountains.
- Go to the north side of the Crimson Desert and move to the area just south of Trader’s Expanse.
- Look for high elevations like stone pillars or a mountain where the Phoenix flies around.
- Wait for the Phoenix to fly by, stay on the pillar, and watch the sky.
- Shoot the Phoenix with an explosive arrow. Equip your bow and use Charged Shot.
- Fire an explosive arrow when the Phoenix comes into range.
- Find where it fell after the hit lands.
- Loot or skin the Phoenix to get the Phoenix Feather.
4. How to Craft Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix)
Once you have the Phoenix Feather, the last part of the unlock is straightforward. Next, you need to head to a Witch NPC, Elowen, which unlocks during Chapter 5, craft the Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix) to register it from your inventory, and finish unlocking the Legendary Phoenix as a permanent pet.
- Go to any Witch’s Lair after you get the Phoenix Feather.
- Talk to the witch and open Craft Abyss Gear.
- Move to the Special Items section.
- Craft Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix) using the Phoenix Feather.
- Open your inventory after crafting it and find Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix) in the Key Item: Treasure section.
- Use the sigil from your inventory to register the Phoenix as your pet.
5. How to Summon the Phoenix Pet
Once you register the Phoenix using the Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix), it becomes available through the Pets menu instead of the bird feeder system.
- Open your inventory.
- Go to the Pets tab.
- Find the Phoenix in your registered pet list.
- Select the Phoenix and use the summon option.
- If the summon option does not work, unsummon your current active pet first by pressing A, then summon the Phoenix.
