Crown Combat Overview

Let’s look at Crown’s Nikke Skills to start the guide. As a Defender Nikke, Crown can do many things to protect her allies, from providing them with buffs to Taunting the enemies for a period to ensure the rest of the team is secure and can dish out their damage safely.

Crown will do so through her set of Skills. We will start by discussing her Skill 1, One for All, in which Crown provides two buffs for two different conditions: She will offer offensive buffs to all allies who used their Burst Skills at the start of a Full Burst stage, while the rest who don’t get to do so will instead gain defensive buffs from Crown.

Moreover, Royal Attire, Crown’s Skill 2, is perhaps her most important ability among the rest, as this Skill enables Crown to become Invulnerable and Taunts all enemies for 5 seconds, providing a great time window for your team to mow down the Raptures while Crown tanks every damage coming at you. This proves that Crown is indeed a bonafide Defender Nikke who will cement her place in the game’s meta.

Lastly, Crown’s Burst Skill, Last Kingdom, is straightforward yet provides the much-needed security for your team. When she activates this Skill, Crown will provide bonus Attack Damage and a Shield for all allies with a 15-second duration.

Overall, Crown is an exceptional Burst 2 Pilgrim unit, and she effectively supersedes Nihilister thanks to her low cooldown Burst Skill, making her ideal for the Pilgrim Tribe Tower. Furthermore, Crown’s versatility outside of that remains strong, and when paired with the right DPS Nikkes who benefit from her buffs, they form a formidable team capable of dismantling Raptures with ease.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As with every Nikkes in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Crown also has her strengths and weaknesses against different content types within the game, as we have curated in the next part of this guide:

Strengths Weaknesses
Crown can fit into most team compositions easily, as her abilities cover a wide range of utilities, ranging from offensive and defensive buffs to providing Taunt for a set of time. Crown still cannot overtake the Duo Bunny (Blanc + Noir) and Duo JK (Naga + Tia) as the resident Supporter/Defender characters in any team lineups.
Crown’s Taunting system does not put her in jeopardy, as during this Taunt, she gets the Invulnerable status, meaning that any damage coming at her will be nullified.
Crown’s Skill 2 requires tons of bullets to trigger the Relax effect. This means that you will have to put as many Increase Max Ammunition sub-stats you can have on two or three Overload Gears for Crown.
Crown’s Burst Skill is simple, yet gives great buffs. The Shield, although only uses a small percentage of her HP, is still potent enough to counter most Raptures, and even against other Nikkes in PvP Arena.

Skills Priority

Once you know Crown’s Skills, it’s time to move on to her Skills Priority. As she is a Defender Nikke, here is the hierarchy of what you should upgrade first (in descending order):

  • One for All: The bulk source of Crown’s capabilities comes from her Skill 1, which either provides offensive or defensive buffs, depending on which allies used their Burst Skills and which ones did not. The level scaling of this Skill is also great, meaning that the more you upgrade it, the Skill becomes more potent.
  • Last Kingdom: Crown’s Burst Skill also has great scaling, and with the Attack Damage buff paired with a good Shield for your allies, Last Kingdom takes the second spot for Crown’s Skill priority.
  • Royal Attire: The last among the three that you should prioritize is Crown’s Skill 2. It’s not necessarily due to the lack of quality behind the Skill, however, it’s because there isn’t much to be upgraded here besides the bonus Attack Damage. The scaling is not an issue here, as Crown’s Taunt and Invulnerable state provides a flat 5-second duration from Level 1.

Best Equipment Substats

Since Crown is a Defender-Class Nikke, she can only use the corresponding equipment designated for that Class. Crown is one of the rare Defenders who wants as many Overload Gears as you can have to enhance her performance beyond her limits, thanks to her already awesome Skillset.

With that in mind, I recommend you to look out for Increase Max Ammunition, Increase Hit Rate,  and Increase Element Damage Dealt sub-stats to help Crown successfully protect her allies, with the Increase Max Ammunition sub-stat taking the highest priority to ensure that you can trigger her Skill 2’s Relax state without having to reload multiple times.

Crown’s Potential Team Composition

As for her potential teammates, Crown can fit into almost any team composition available in Goddess of Victory: NIKKE. As a Burst 2 Pilgrim Nikke and a Defender to boot, Crown has many qualities that will be highly coveted in every game content, ranging from the tough Campaign Stages, the Tribe Tower, to the PvP Arena.

For those reasons, we will list one potential lineup for Crown to maximize her powers and help your team push through against the Raptures.

Crown’s Jewel

As stated previously, Crown can shine in almost everything, and this team lineup is purposefully designed to help you smash through the Campaign Stages like butter, and defeat your opponents’ lineup in PvP Arena.

With that in mind, the Crown’s Jewel team comprises Liter, Crown, Modernia, Red Hood, and Naga.

This squad features top-flight Nikkes who can work perfectly well with each other. One interesting part you might see here is the combination of Crown and Naga, as opposed to the usual Naga and Tia pairing. The reason for that is Crown can pair well with Naga’s HP recovery effect, so Crown will not have to worry about dying after the Taunt timer ends, thus strengthening her position as the team’s Defender.

In addition to that, the appearance of both Red Hood and Modernia here is to maximize Crown’s Taunting ability, as these two DPS Nikkes can unleash hell upon the enemies through the usage of their respective Burst Skills. Overall, this team is intended to be used for defeating the Campaign Stages with ease, as there won’t be any glaring gaps that the Raptures can capitalize on.

Meanwhile, in terms of PvP Arena, this team still holds strong, though you might want to replace Red Hood/Modernia with another DPS unit like Scarlet: Black Shadow, and have Maxwell take the final spot instead of Naga if you decide to keep Red Hood here.

Crown’s Overall Power Rank

Now that we’ve gone through Crown’s Skills and her Team potential, it’s time to talk about her usability in every content within the game. In Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, there are many challenges that players must face, such as Interception, Arena, and Tribe Towers.

As stated before, a Pilgrim Defender Nikke like Crown, who also has a 20-second cooldown, is a very highly rated unit without even beginning to look at her Skills. Once you do so, you will realize that Crown arrives at Goddess of Victory: NIKKE and she intends to stay at the highest mountain among other meta-defining Nikkes.

And so, to close off this Crown Nikke guide, we will provide a table that includes her usability against all game contents, including Interception and PvP Arena, to provide insight into what types of content she’s strong in and which are the ones you should avoid using her.

Power Rank Table

Type of Content

Usability Rank

(E – SS)

Explanations
Campaign Stages (Early) SS If you’re still in the Early Campaign Stages (Chapters 1 – 16), then Crown will have no issues whatsoever to help your team breeze past through. You can put her as the resident Burst 2 Nikke in your team, thanks to her low Burst Skill cooldown.
Campaign Stages (Late) SS Starting in Campaign Stages Chapter 17+, Crown is still able to shine with the right team lineup, as we have provided in the previous section. According to my testing, the Crown’s Jewel team is Crown’s best-in-slot team, so I strongly recommend any players who might still need that last piece of the puzzle to put Crown into their team.
PvP Arena S Crown’s greatest strength in Campaign Stages is unfortunately part of her downside for the PvP Arena. This is due to the time it takes before Crown can trigger her Relax state. However, if your team manages to survive after that, then you should have no problem dealing with your opponent’s lineup provided that the rest of your Nikkes are still alive.
Interception SS Interception Bosses are single-target enemies, and Crown can tank most of their attacks with ease. I’d argue that there is no Interception Boss whom she is weak against, in fact, she is more potent against Bosses like Alteisen VI, where if you can time it right, then Crown will tank the train’s miniguns, keeping the rest of your team safe.
Tribe Tower SS Crown will replace Nihilister’s place in the Pilgrim Tribe Tower, allowing you to field either three Burst 3 Pilgrims for more damage, or bring Rapunzel to further ensure your team’s survivability.

Should You Pull for Crown?

Yes, you should. Crown is almost a perfect Burst 2 Defender Nikke and the very fact that she is a Pilgrim Nikke, a coveted faction of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE that many still don’t have the complete collection of all Pilgrim Nikkes (myself included), there is almost zero reason why you should skip pulling for Crown.

Her Skills are amazing, as they both provide offensive and defensive boosts for your team, and Crown can also protect her allies by using her Skill 2’s Taunts and Invulnerable state while doing so. Design-wise, Crown is unique, and she has a majestic and commanding aura that makes you want to root for her and her kingdom. She is a lovable character, and she graces the game in style as she will be a highly meta-defining Nikke that will mark her spot in many team compositions.

Therefore, we place Crown as an SS-Tier Nikke for our final verdict.
