Five great classes for Modern Warfare Remastered

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered is a simple game, but it doesn’t mean it is easy, not in the slightest. Whilst it does not have the exo jumps, wallruns and supply drops of the later games in the franchise, a large amount of focus is on positioning, gunplay, and skill. Whilst those aspects cannot be taught, it is best to set yourself up for success, and this is what we’re going to do. Here is a list of five great classes you can use Modern Warfare Remastered in the early game, giving you a serious upper hand on the competition.

If you don’t have the copy of the game yet, you can buy one on Amazon, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, or Steam.

Assault, focused on mid-range firefights

Assault

This is a class focused on mid-range dominance using one of the best weapons in the game, the M16A4. This gun is burst fire and will consistently kill in three bullets with stopping power, meaning you’ll have a great advantage over anybody not using Juggernaut, though even that perk cannot save them from the might of the M16A4. Just another pull of the trigger will kill any opponent, regardless of second perk.

This class uses

  •  M16A4 w/ Red Dot Sight
  • USP.45
  • Flash Grenade
  • Special Grenades x3
  • Stopping Power
  • Deep Impact

This is your general dominance class in Modern Warfare. Use your special grenades to get the advantage over enemies that may be trying to peek you, use Deep Impact to root out campers by shooting through walls, and enjoy the sheer power that the M16A4 offers.

The SMG Class, utilizing a rushing playstyle to overpower your opponents with speed

SMG

Sometimes, you just need the close range dominance of an SMG. The MP5 is a great gun for exactly that purpose, offering a fast fire rate and 30 rounds of sheer power. Use a rushing playstyle to push your enemies when they are vulnerable and secure those valuble kills for your team.

This class uses:

  • MP5 w/ Red Dot Sight
  • USP .45
  • Stun Grenade
  • Bomb Squad
  • Stopping Power
  • Extreme Conditioning

You can swap the Red Dot Sight on the MP5 for a silencer if you are so inclined, although this class isn’t really designed for stealth. Avoid using the M9 handgun, as both the MP5 and the M9 share ammunition, meaning that whilst you get an extra 30 rounds of ammunition, if you run these dry, you will be completely  out of ammunition.

Utilize Bomb Squad on your rushes to avoid claymores, Extreme Conditioning allows you to run further than players without this perk, meaning you can be much more versatile in your rushes without worrying too much about sprint management. This is your general purpose SMG class, allowing for an aggressive playstyle whilst offering a high killing potential
The M60E4 offers unrivalled stopping power, annihilating anybody unfortunate enough to stumble into your sights

LMG

The M60E4 is scary.  Imagine being hit with an artillery cannon, and that is exactly how your enemies are going to feel when you shoot at them. The M60E4 is unmatched in sheer power, cutting enemies into ribbons regardless if they are using Juggernaut. This gun is the ultimate counter to human life.

This class uses:

  • M60E4 w/ Red Dot Sight
  • M1911 .45
  • Stun Grenade
  • Bomb Squad
  • Stopping Power
  • Deep Impact

This great class for Modern Warfare is almost too powerful. Use Bomb Squad to shoot claymores through walls, Deep Impact increases the already ridiculous bullet penetration of this gun, and Stopping Power serves as that extra little boost to the already insane damage you can put out with this class. When you aim down sights, you create a No Man’s Land.

This class focuses on stealth gameplay, utilizing a flanking playstyle to get behind your enemies

Stealth

This great class in Modern Warfare is for the sneaky ones out there. The M4 Carbine offers unparalleled accuracy and, although it doesn’t have the best damage output, is great at engaging enemies that have no idea you are there.

The class uses:

  • M4 Carbine w/ Silencer
  • USP .45 w/ Silencer
  • Stun Grenade
  • Bomb Squad
  • UAV Jammer
  • Extreme Conditioning

The M4 Carbine is one of the most impressive guns in the game whilst silenced, leaving your enemies dumbfounded when they take 5 rounds in the back with no idea where the came from. Use Bomb Squad to avoid Claymores that can shut down your flank, UAV Jammer counters the constant UAV presence in most matches, and Extreme Conditioning allows you speed and flexibility with your flanks, giving you much more manoeuvrability than someone without this perk. It is possible to swap Extreme Conditioning out for Dead Silence, although this perk is a very late unlock.

Your all-purpose sniper class, allowing flexibility in engagements with one shot stopping power

Sniper (xxQwikskope)

Sniping has always been popular in Call of Duty,  and sometimes you just need that one sniper class to dominate your opponents at long range.

This class uses:

  • M40A3
  • M9 w/ Silencer
  • Flash Grenade
  • Claymore x2
  • Stopping Power
  • Deep Impact

The M40A3 is the quintessential sniper rifle and a great class in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered.  When you think of sniping in this game, you think of this rifle. Fortify your position with your Claymores, and let walls stop you not with Stopping Power and Deep Impact turning drywall into printer paper. Another good option for this class is the ACOG scope on the M40A3, which offers slightly less zoom but with slightly more power. This is really a matter of taste, but you’ll have to use the regular scope until you unlock the ACOG anyway.

Hopefully you can use these 5 great classes in Modern Warfare Remastered to lead you to success. There are options here for everybody, so get out there and earn some killstreaks!
