Robin Drip Marketing Released for Honkai Star Rail 2.2

With the official reveal of Honkai Star Rail Version 2.1 coming in a few days, Hoyoverse have released the first batch of drip marketing images for Version 2.2, revealing that famous Halovian singer Robin will be the first playable 5-star of that version. This is the first set of drip marketing images for 2.2, with more character reveals expected in the next few days.

Robin Drip Marketing Released for Honkai Star Rail 2.2

Following Genshin Impact’s round of 4.6 drip marketing yesterday, Hoyoverse’s other seminal gacha game Honkai: Star Rail has dropped the first batch of drip marketing for the 2.2 Version update, revealing that Robin is our first new 5-star for Version 2.2.

Trailblazers who have experienced the Penacony Trailblaze Quest will know Robin as one of the most important members of The Family, the Harmony-worshipping group that controls the Dreamscape in Penacony. Robin is a singer who has a cosmic level of fame, with March 7th being particularly starstruck at her appearance in The Reverie. She’s also going to be the first playable Halovian, an angelic race of people most often identified by the wings sprouting from the back of their heads.

From the drip-marketing, we know that Robin will be a 5-star Physical Harmony character, with 4-star Hanya being the only other character to share that Path and Element combination. This means there is a strong possibility that she will be focused on some sort of stat buff or other supportive ability like most other Harmony units. Based on the last round of drip marketing for HSR and the fact that we’re still early into Penacony, expect a second or maybe even a third round of drip marketing for 2.2 in the next few days.

SPOILER WARNING FOR THE HONKAI: STAR RAIL 2.0 TRAILBLAZE QUEST

Of course, Robin’s inclusion here is of particular interest following the events at the end of the 2.0 Trailblaze Quest. At the quest’s conclusion, Robin is the victim of a gruesome murder inside the Dreamscape, leading to many questions on how she could become a playable character down the road. Hoyoverse and the Honkai series isn’t a stranger to having dead characters be playable but Robin’s inclusion more likely points to some rather dramatic twists in the narrative for the rest of Penacony’s Trailblaze Quest.

In case you are unfamiliar with the term, drip marketing refers to key art or promotional images used to tease a character’s release before their official version update showcase. For Hoyoverse games, in particular, they like to release drip marketing for characters a full version ahead of the current update, allowing players time to save their precious Jade or Primogems in response.

Don’t expect a release for Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 for a good while yet, with the official reveal of 2.1 arriving on Friday the 16th of March. With that in mind, expect Version 2.2 sometime in late May.
