Lucy and Soukaku’s EN Voice Actors Have Been Recast in Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.1

Following the launch of the Version 1.1 update for Zenless Zone Zero, two Agents have had their voice actors suddenly and mysteriously changed. Lucy and Soukaku have both received new voice actors just weeks after a similar recasting took place in Honkai: Star Rail for Huohuo and Argenti.

Lucy and Soukaku's EN Voice Actors Have Been Recast in Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.1Two playable characters in Zenless Zone Zero have been recast, adding to a strange list of recent English voice actor changes in several Hoyoverse titles. The news was confirmed in the patch notes for ZZZ’s latest version update

Soukaku and Lucy, two of ZZZ’s A-Rank Support Agents, have both been mysteriously recast in the English dub. While Soukaku’s original English voice actor was never revealed, Lucy’s voice actress was confirmed to be Courtney Lin on Zenless Zone Zero’s social media pages back in June. Hoyoverse has yet to confirm who Soukaku and Lucy”s new voice actors are.

This pair of voice actor changes adds to a recent string of sudden recastings in Hoyoverse titles, specifically in Honkai: Star Rail with Huohuo and Argenti. Courtney Lin also used to voice Huohuo but she, along with Adam Michael Gold the voice actor for Tail and Argenti, was replaced at the start of Star Rail’s Version 2.4 update. Interestingly, Huohuo and Argenti were the limited 5-star units of Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.5 and launched in the same patch. Megan Shipman now voices Houhuo, while Aaron Veach voices Tail, and Taon Warburton voices Argenti. Like with the Zenless Zone Zero recasting, no official reason for their replacement has been given.

Many have speculated that these changes may have to do with the recent SAG-AFTRA strikes for video game voice actors, who are currently striking over concerns with AI, although this is just speculation. Other affiliated voice actors, namely Anby’s actress Sam Slade, have confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero has been deemed a “safe” game by SAG-AFTRA and that she, and other voice actors who worked on it, are free to promote and discuss it.
