The twisted nightmare of the Penacony Dreamscape only continues to spiral in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2, the next upcoming version update which is set to join the game in a few weeks. Hoyoverse just finished officially revealing what Trailblazers can expect in Version 2.2 in the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 Special Program, which included a look at the next act of the Penacony Trailblaze Quest, two brand new Physical 5-stars units to pull on, three new areas of Penacony to explore and scour for rewards, several new events, and more.

Singer of Harmony, Robin
First things, let’s go over the two brand new playable characters revealed for Version 2.2, both of whom were drip-marketed early in 2.1.
Robin is a 5-star Physical Harmony unit who uses the power of song to buff and empower her allies. Her Technique creates a field which makes nearby enemies passive. Meanwhile, her Skill enhances the DMG of all party members and her Ultimate Advance Forward’s all allies by 100%, letting every character act again immediately. What’s even better is that, while Robin’s Ultimate is active, a special song will override the background music, letting you experience Robin’s musical prowess to the fullest, and she’s immune to Crowd Control debuffs. She’s a very strong Harmony unit, especially for Follow Up Attackers.
Another new Physical unit coming in 2.2 is Boothill, a cyberborg cowboy who’s a 5-star Physical Hunt character and a Galaxy Ranger. Boothill is all about Break Effect, whether he’s blowing enemies to bits with his revolver or kicking them with his robotic-powered legs. This gunslinger’s Skill will initiate a Duel with a single enemy, enhancing Boothill’s Basic ATK and causing both targets of the duel to deal and take bonus damage from one another. His Ultimate is a cinematic clash ripped straight from an old Western movie where he pumps a single target full of lead, delaying their Action.

If either of these fancy and fabulous new Physical 5-star characters catches your attention, you’ll need to pull for them on their Character Event Warps. During Phase 1 of Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2, Robin will be one of the feature 5-stars on rate-up alongside Topaz and Numby, with both of their signature Light Cones – Flowing Nightglow and Worrisome, Blissful, respectively – also being available at the same time. Furthermore, March 7th, Xueyi, and Hanya will all be rate-up 4 stars on both banners.
Then, in Phase 2, Boothill will take centre stage alongside Fu Xuan, one of the strongest Preservation in the entire game, with Pela, Luka, and Hook making their appearance as feature 4-stars. Additionally, the Sailing Towards a Second Life and She Already Shut Her Eyes signature 5-star Light Cones will also be available for Boothill and Fu Xuan.

Next up, Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 seems to be adding three brand new areas of Penacony for Trailblazers to explore. The first is the Dreamscape Reef, a special part of the Dreamscape disconnected from all other areas, causing it to distort and become strange. Accessing this area will require “special means” according to Owlbert. The other new areas teased during the Special Program were the Moment of Scorched Sand, a once hostile place which has since been transformed into a lively party spot, as well as the Grand Theatre, the final destination of the Charmony Festival where an unforgettable performance will take place.
Alongside these new locations will be a host of new enemies from the Sweet Dream Troupe, including a new Echo of War Boss; Harmonious Choir, the Great Septimus. This massive metal angelic conductor will attack your team with powerful musical notes and summon strange allies to aid it in weaving together deadly songs. This fight will have three phases and become an Echo of War for future characters after you complete the 2.2 Trailblaze Quest.

The last major updates coming to Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 are several events and system optimizations. The main event of this version is Clockie Dreamjoy Memoir, an event where you will step into the shoes of a film director as you edit films to appease the masses of Penacony, hoping to make back enough revenue to fix the massive Clock Studios Screen that Acheron destroyed in 2.1. Completing this event will net you Stellar Jade, upgrade materials, a new text message style, and a new limited 4-star Harmony Light Cone, For Tomorrow’s Journey.
Other events in 2.2 include the cute arcade-themed event The Legend of the Galatic Baseballer, a combat event where you must defeat as many foes as possible to accrue EXP and special equipment that will allow you to shred through foes. Furthermore, All About Boothill is another assignment event where you will send off characters each day on special assignments that award Stellar Jade as you help the IPC track down information about Boothill. Of course, 2.2 will also feature another Gift of Odyssey log-in event for 10 free pulls.
Finally, 2.2 will see several small system optimizations arrive. Trailblazers will now be able to access their Battle Records from their Player Profiles, allowing them to recount details from past battles. Players will also be able to see the team line-ups players on their Friends List used to defeat Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction, with the option to set their own teams as well. Lastly, you can now also pin characters so that they will appear at the top of the character selection menu when making new team compositions.
