“Now or Never”

Whether Geralt romances Yen, Triss, or neither affects the game’s ending sequence. “Now or Never” is an important Witcher 3 secondary quest to complete if you fancy Triss more than Yen. To unlock it, you’ll also need to complete “A Favor for Radovid” and “A Matter of Life and Death,” which is another secondary quest that precedes it.

In the “Now or Never” quest, Geralt must assist Triss in evacuating mages from Novigrad. Tell Triss you love her when you get the chance during the “Now or Never” quest. Do the same in the “Matter of Life and Death” quest to romance Triss.

“The Last Wish”

“The Last Wish” Witcher 3 secondary quest concerns Geralt’s relationship with Yen. That quest gives you the chance to woo or shun Yen. You can unlock that quest by meeting Yen at Larvik after completing the “Nameless” main story quest in Skellige.

Completing “The Last Wish” quest lifts a djinn spell coupling Yen and Geralt. You can then choose to romance Yen or not by selecting the appropriate dialogue option. Note that romancing Triss and Yen in the secondary quests can lead to the “It Takes Three to Tango” quest, resulting in Geralt losing both ladies.

“Reason of State”

“Reason of State” is a Witcher 3 secondary quest that determines who becomes ruler of the North. You can decide whether Emries, Radovid, or Dijkstra emerges as king by completing “Reason of State.” To unlock this quest, complete the “Now or Never,” “Blindingly Obvious,” and “A Deadly Plot” quests.

“Reason of State” is a quest in which Radovid gets assassinated. Thus, completing it rules out any possibility of Radovid becoming ruler of the North. You’re also presented with a choice to side with Roche or Dijkstra at the end of that quest. If you side with Roche in “Reason of State”, Emhyr var Emries becomes the ruler. Dijkstra becomes ruler if you choose not to help Roche. Radovid becomes king if you don’t complete the “Reason of State” quest.

“King’s Gambit”

Who becomes the leader of Skellige is another part of the Witcher 3 story that affects the ending sequence. Completing the “King’s Gambit” Witcher 3 secondary quest will decide whether Svanrige Bran, Hjalmar, or Cerys becomes ruler of Skellige. “Possession” and “The Lord of Undvik” are two prerequisite secondary quests you must complete to unlock “King’s Gambit.”

In “King’s Gambit,” Birna Bran unleashes a bear massacre in the feast hall. Geralt then has a choice to investigate the matter with either Hjalmar or Cerys. Cerys will become ruler of Skellige if you investigate with her. If you prefer Hjalmar to become the leader of Skellige, choose to investigate the massacre with him instead. Not completing “King’s Gambit” will result in Svanrige taking the throne.

“Skjall’s Grave”

Ciri’s fate is primarily decided by your dialogue choices in Witcher 3’s main quests. However, “Skjall’s Grave” is an optional cutscene quest that can affect the ending. If you want Ciri to survive, choose to go and visit Skjall’s grave at the end of the “Child of Elder Blood” main quest.

Then you’ll see the “Skjall’s Grave” cutscene quest unfold, which doesn’t require any player action. Completing that Witcher 3 secondary quest is one of the ways you can save Ciri in Witcher 3. However, you’ll need to get a few more dialogue choices right to ensure her survival.
