Velen is a big map where a lot of action takes place in Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It’s a somewhat larger map than White Orchard, which makes its Places of Power a bit harder to find. That vast wasteland of swamps and forests includes six Places of Power. Discovering and drawing from all of them will provide six Ability Points with which you can enhance Geralt’s combat prowess. This is where you can find the Witcher 3 Places of Power in Velen.

At Ancient Oak
This Igni Place of Power lies just slightly west of the Ancient Oak tree located on the eastern side of Velen’s map. That’s a location you’ll need to go to on the Whispering Hillock main quest. Have a good look round the large oak tree to find it. The Orphans of Crookback Bog and the Ruined Tower are two other nearby signpost locations that are just north of this Place of Power.

South of Frischclow Town
You can find this Place of Power at one of the very southernmost points on Velen’s map shown directly below. It is situated just south of the Frischlow signpost location (and Fyke Isle further north). Head directly south from there through the swamps to find and draw from this Aard Place of Power.

Below the Bridge at Lornruk
At the northwest corner of Velen, there’s an abandoned Lonruk tower on a small island connected by a drawbridge. That’s a signpost location near Harpy Feeding Ground and Isolated Shack further south. Head to the northwest location on the map shown directly below to find it. The Place of Power is situated on an area of the ground below the bridge. So, look over both sides of the drawbridge to spot it.

In the Elven Ruins Cave
You can find this Witcher 3 Place of Power in Velen within an underground Elven ruins cave (entrance marked below) during Keira Metz’s optional Magic Lamp secondary quest. After completing the Wandering in the Dark quest, Keira will ask you to help her find a magical lamp. Help her find the magical lamp to discover this Place of Power in the cave. As that secondary quest isn’t available for long, it’s best to do it as soon as you get the chance.

At Bald Mountain
You’ll find this Place of Power up Bald Mountain, which is near the Road to Bald Mountain and Destroyed Bastion signposts in the south of Velen. However, this POP is not accessible until you undertake the level 26 Bald Mountain main quest. You won’t get a chance to do that quest until after you’ve completed Blood on the Battlefield toward the end of the game. Make sure you have a good look around the Quen POP location mark directly below when you’re climbing the mountain during the Bald Mountain quest.

Atop a Rocky Hill Near Downwarren
This Witcher 3 Place of Power in Velen is pretty straightforward to find. Head to the Downwarren or Reardon Manor signpost locations close to it on the eastern side of Velen. From Downwarren, head in a very slight northwesterly direction toward Dragonslayer’s Grotto. Walk up the steep, rocky hill nestled between those signpost locations, which might also require a bit of jumping to reach the top of it. You’ll find the POP atop the summit of the hill.

Those are all the Witcher 3 Places of Power in Velen (not including those within the map’s Novigrad area). Aside from giving you six more Ability Points, they’ll also temporarily boost sign intensity whenever you draw from them. There’s a total of 30 Places of Power in Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and all the extra Ability Points they provide will considerably strengthen Geralt during his quest to save Ciri.
