Netflix will be producing a new show based on The Witcher Saga by Andrzej Sapkowski, the books that inspired the insanely popular The Witcher games from CD Projekt Red.

According to the official press release, Andrzej Sapkowski, creator of The Witcher books, will be acting as the creative consultant for the upcoming Netflix adaptation.

"I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” — Sapkowski

Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, Ben-Hur, The Expanse) and Jason Brown (The Expanse) will be executive producers, along with Tomek Baginski (Oscar-nominated short The Cathedral, BAFTA-winning The Fallen Art, Ambition) and Jarek Sawko (The Fallen Art, Another Day of Life) from Polish production and visual effects company Platige Image.

Though the show will be done by Platige Image, it is still unclear whether the show will be animated or live-action. Platige Image has worked on The Witcher with Tomek Baginski in the past, producing cinematics for The Witcher games. Those could be good indications as to what to expect for the upcoming show.

"The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling" — Sean Daniel and Jason Brown

As Sean Daniel and Jason Brown suggests, the upcoming show will likely be an original story set within the Witcher universe.
