Forza Horizon 4 might be one of the most successful racing games by now. With monthly updates since launch and two great expansions, people are eventually starting to predict a third expansion. The last expansion was released over a year ago, so perhaps a final expansion before Playground Games stop supporting the game could be a possibility. With not much content being released and Forza’s rival, Gran Turismo, continuously teasing their upcoming masterpiece, we should expect something.
Sadly, you should not expect a third expansion. The main reason is the game’s age. Although no Forza title has ever been supported for such a long time, a third expansion would require too much effort. We’re all expecting a new Forza Horizon soon, aren’t we? Better focusing on that rather than 100% focusing on another expansion. Another reason could also be the approach of the upcoming title, Forza Motorsport. No one has confirmed this, but it could be a valid reason.
The amount of active players still seems to increase; however, the reason could be the lockdowns over the past few months, which forced people to stay inside. But the increase did not heavily affect the team’s revenue because old players were returning to the game. That’s probably why we’re having somewhat small updates, but frequently. A similar situation happened in the previous title, Forza Motorsport 7. We got car packs monthly, but later we got a single free car each month until Turn 10 stopped supporting it last year. All because Turn 10 did not generate much money from the game anymore.
Despite the game not being supported with much content, we should instead look ahead for the upcoming Forza Motorsport. It’ll be released in a few years, but many teasers are about to come. Regarding information on any upcoming Forza Horizon games is still unknown, but there’s more to come in the future.
