During today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Turn 10 announced the next chapter in the Forza Motorsport series titled simply Forza Motorsport rather than Forza Motorsport 8 suggesting this might be a reboot for the much-loved Xbox racing series.
Microsoft marked the announcement with a small teaser trailer showcasing, of course, the cars as well as the legendary Laguna Segway circuit that has featured in almost all Forza Motorsport games. There was also a heavy emphasis on the different customisation options for your driver in the trailer suggesting this has been further improved from Forza Motorsport 7.
No release date was mentioned for Forza Motorsport with Head of Xbox Phil Spencer saying the game was “still in early development”.
This will come as a surprise to most Forza Motorsport fans. Forza Motorsport 7 released nearly three years ago and Forza even took a year off last year for the first time since the Forza Horizon series began back in 2012. It was expected that the new Motorsport would release later this year with the Xbox Series X or early 2021 at the latest. This is obviously not the case.
When Forza Motorsport does release it will be available as part of Xbox Game Pass on day one.
