This E3 2017, Sony revealed the highly-anticipated Horizon Zero Dawn expansion, The Frozen Wilds. The expansion is set to release on PS4 at some point this year. The news has also led to many questions about the future of the franchise and both Guerrilla Games' Managing Director Hermen Hulst and SIEA President Shawn Layden had some interesting input to share. Hulst stated that the expansion includes a substantial amount of new content. He suggested that we will see new areas, challenges, quests, weapons and more. As for Shawn Layden, he had an interview with The Telegraph were he suggested that we can expect more Horizon games and content in the near future. Layden advised,
The reception for the game has been fantastic. Herman Hulst has got a very keen mind on where he wants to take Horizon and what the roadmap is – and that roadmap is expressed in multiple years. I think we'll be in the Horizon business for a long time.
There you have it. Don't expect a new IP from Guerrilla Games for a long time as Horizon Zero Dawn is going to be the franchise they will focus on for the time being. The Frozen Wilds expansion will cost $19.99 USD with 25% discount for those that pre-order the content.
