Beat Rolls Into Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

Beat Rolls Into Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

Sega has announced a new character in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania: Beat. As a result, the Jet Set Radio protagonist is entering a new world. Here, it’s all monkey business. According to the tweet from Sega, Beat will be available to unlock through normal gameplay.

Jet Set Radio was a 2000 Dreamcast action hit where you were a member of a youth gang. Beat could traverse Tokyo with his inline skates, spray graffiti, and hopefully avoid the police! Now he is joining the gang in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania for some ball-rolling, banana-collecting action.

More Banana Mania Guest Characters?

Beat is the latest guest character to join the monkey gang in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. However, it seems he may not be the only guest character in the game. Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails have been all but confirmed as playable.

This wouldn’t be the first time Sonic has appeared in the series. In fact, he sped his way into Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD. The blue blur was also hinted at for Banana Mania at the very end of this trailer:

What About Paid DLC?

While Beat is free in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, there will be some paid DLCs available. Sega has revealed a handful of different packs:

  • The SEGA Legends Pack (play as a Dreamcast, Game Gear, or Saturn).
  • The Classic Character Pack (classic versions of the six monkey protagonists)
  • Classic Soundtrack (the original Super Monkey Ball soundtrack)
  • The Customization Pack (pink cosmetic items for dressing up the six monkey protagonists)

A fifth pack, the Bonus Cosmetic Pack, contains 10 items. This DLC is exclusively available as a pre-order bonus. Meanwhile, the Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Digital Deluxe Edition includes all of the DLCs for an extra $10. Sega set the price at $39.99 for Deluxe Edition (on Steam), which is not bad. Furthermore, the base game has tons of content, including 300+ levels. Additionally, you have the mini-games and new accessibility features.
