As you may recall, Jet Set Radio’s Beat rolled into Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania last week. However, Sega has now shown off two other guest characters that were all but confirmed. This was as a result of hidden art found within the official website by a fan. Famous blue blur, Sonic the Hedgehog and his buddy, Tails, are joining the roster, too. Sega has just shown off the first footage of both characters in-game.
Just like Beat, Sonic and Tails will be free characters unlocked through normal gameplay. This year marks Sonic’s 30th anniversary and the 25th for the Super Monkey Ball series. So this is celebrating both at the same time.

As you can see in the trailer, bananas are replaced with coins when playing as Sonic or Tails. With their inclusion, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania now has three guest characters.
Sonic and Tails, along with Beat, will join the monkey gang on over 300 levels, and 12 party games. Though the blue blur is a great fit for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, this is not his first appearance. He was also playable in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD.
This compilation is a remaster of Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. It will be available on Switch, Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 4 & 5 on October 5th. If you happen to be a PC gamer, it’s $10 cheaper on Steam for both standard and digital deluxe editions. Naturally, for console gamers who like to spend extra on some physical goodies, there is the Anniversary Edition. It includes an art book and some exclusive in-game cosmetic items.
