Glorious Hunters is one of the earliest faction quests in Windrose, putting you on the trail of a missing Buccaneer hunting party across three ruined camps before sending you out to sea for a naval showdown.
1. How to Start the Glorious Hunters Quest
The Glorious Hunters quest is tied to the Rogue Buccaneers faction and becomes available early as you explore the starting island chain. There is no quest board to visit.
The quest triggers automatically the moment you loot a quest-relevant item from any of the three abandoned Buccaneer camps, meaning you can approach them in any order you prefer.
- No manual activation required: Visit any of the three camps and open a Buccaneers’ Chest.
- Any camp works as a starting point: The trigger fires at the Abandoned Buccaneer Camp, Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse, or Destroyed Buccaneer Fort.
- Order does not matter: All three camps must be investigated, but you can clear them in whichever sequence suits your route.
2. How to Find Traces of the Buccaneers
Your first objective is to investigate three abandoned campsites scattered across the Coastal Jungle biome. Each location contains at least one Buccaneers’ Chest holding key quest items, along with optional loot and environmental clues about what happened to Marcel Boucher’s hunting party.
Use the table below to track what you need and where to find it before diving into each camp.
| Quest Item | Camp Location |
|---|---|
| Broken Musket | Abandoned Buccaneer Camp |
| Marcel Boucher’s Diary (first page) | Abandoned Buccaneer Camp |
| Damaged Flask | Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse |
| Page from Marcel Boucher’s Diary | Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse |
| Torn Hat | Destroyed Buccaneer Fort |
| Marcel’s Last Letter | Destroyed Buccaneer Fort |
Clearing all three camps thoroughly also yields bullets, weapons, and potions that will help with the naval combat later.
2.1. Abandoned Buccaneer Camp
This camp holds the Broken Musket and the first page of Marcel Boucher’s Diary, both required to progress the quest.
- Climb the slope leading up to the building’s roof. The first Buccaneers’ Chest sits next to some fallen planks at the top. It can contain a Rum Bottle and a Decoration item.
- Examine the Old Rag at the front of the ruins for a warning message, then head inside the doorway and interact with the Shabby Desk on your left.
- Round the corner to the left to find the second Buccaneers’ Chest. This one holds the Broken Musket and Marcel Boucher’s Diary, both of which are required quest items.
- Cross to the far side of the ruins and examine the Abandoned Belongings near the far wall. Loot the third Buccaneers’ Chest on the opposite wall for bonus gear, including a Rapier and Homemade Gunpowder.
2.2. Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse
This camp sits on higher ground and contains the Damaged Flask and another diary page, locked behind a blocked entryway and a rooftop climb.
- Outside the camp walls, interact with the Practice Target, a boar head mounted on a pillar. Also check the Old Tanning Rack on the left side of the entrance.
- Inside the camp, look for the Piled Crates to your right. To your left, an entryway is blocked by stacked crates. Use your axe to hack through them and find a Supply Cache behind the blockade, which can contain a Fast Travel Bell.
- Climb the building and jump across the wooden platforms to reach the vantage point at the top. The Buccaneers’ Chest here contains the Damaged Flask and a Page from Marcel Boucher’s Diary.
Boars at these camps are aggressive. When you see the red glint in their eyes, they are about to charge in a straight line. Dodge sideways and attack while the boar recovers with its back turned.
2.3. Destroyed Buccaneer Fort
This is the most complex of the three camps, with multiple Old Skeletons to examine across several levels. The Torn Hat and Marcel’s Last Letter are found here, completing your collection of evidence.
- Enter the fort and examine the Old Skeleton beneath the dangling skeleton in the archway.
- Go up the stairs to your right and around the corner to investigate the Broken Gate.
- Look left for a watchtower connected to the main building by a broken wooden bridge. Jump the gap to reach the Buccaneers’ Chest on the other side. It can hold Copper Bullets, Iron Bullets, and Homemade Gunpowder.
- Return to the main building and climb the wooden ladder propped against the wall. Loot the Old Skeleton on the top platform for potential drops, including a Sturdy Rapier, Minor Healing Potions, and Elixirs of Precision.
- Drop back to the main level and hop over the short ruined wall ahead. An Old Skeleton crumpled in the corner on the other side may hold the Torn Hat and Marcel’s Last Letter. If it does not, head back to the Broken Gate, turn left, follow the wooden planks, and check the final Old Skeleton on the ground below.
3. Report to Henri Boucher
Once you have collected all of Marcel’s effects, a new map pin appears pointing to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base on a remote island. You need a ship to reach it, so complete the “I Need a Bigger Boat” quest first if you have not already done so.
- Confirm you have the Broken Musket in your inventory before setting sail. The quest cannot advance without it.
- Sail to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base using the new map pin as your guide.
- Locate Henri Boucher at the camp. You will also find a Bounty Agent, Buyer, and Provisioner here.
- Speak to Henri and show him the Broken Musket. He will learn that Marcel and the entire hunting party were killed by Blackbeard’s pirates.
- Receive Part 2 objectives. Henri asks you to avenge his brother by sinking three pirate ships. This completes Part 1 and immediately transitions into Part 2.
4. How to Destroy Three Pirate Ships
The three target vessels are marked directly on your minimap, so tracking them down is straightforward. Before leaving the Rogue Buccaneers’ Main Base, take a few minutes to prepare your ship properly.
The fights are manageable at level 4 or above, but underprepared vessels will struggle in sustained exchanges.
Before setting sail, make sure to:
- Repair your hull fully before engaging any target.
- Bring Healing Potions in case boar or combat encounters earlier left your health low.
- Upgrade your ship’s weapons as much as your current resources allow.
Once you are ready, follow this engagement sequence for each of the three ships:
- Locate the target using the minimap marker and approach at range.
- Position your ship so your broadside cannons are facing the enemy hull.
- Fire controlled volleys rather than unloading everything at once.
- Pull back if your hull takes heavy damage, and repair before re-engaging.
- Repeat the firing and retreat pattern until the ship sinks.
- Move to the next marked target and repeat the process until all three are destroyed.
Ignore any stray pirate ships nearby. Focus only on the three marked targets to avoid being overwhelmed.
Once all three vessels are sunk, sail back to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base and speak with Henri to close the quest.
5. Glorious Hunters Rewards
Completing the Glorious Hunters quest chain grants the following rewards:
- Buccaneer’s Friend Musket
- 200 Rogue Buccaneers Reputation
- 100 Experience Points
- 10 Letters of Favor
The 200 Rogue Buccaneers Reputation is among the most valuable rewards here. Higher faction standing unlocks better gear, building blueprints, and new dialogue options from faction vendors as you progress through Windrose‘s island chains.
