Crafting in Tainted Grail – Cooking, Potions, Gear, Fishing Explained

Master the survival loop with crafting, cooking, potion-making, smithing, and fishing systems in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.

7. Must-Know Systems: Cooking, Alchemy, Fishing, and Smithing

Tainted Grail Alchemy

Alchemy

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon features deep survival and crafting systems. Understanding how cooking, alchemy, fishing, and smithing work — and when to use them — gives you a major edge in combat, healing, and preparation.

Cooking – Better Meals = Better Survival

  • Cook meals at campfires or kitchens using ingredients you find
  • Improves healing over time and grants buffs before fights
  • Level up cooking skill to unlock better effects and recipes
  • Some recipes can only be found or discovered via experimentation

Alchemy – Crafting Potions and Boosters

  • Make health potions, mana potions, and temporary stat buffs
  • Level your alchemy skill by crafting regularly
  • High-level alchemy gives longer durations and stronger effects
  • Experiment with reagents to find powerful potion combos

Fishing – Free Food and Crafting Ingredients

  • Fish anywhere you find a rippling water surface
  • Requires a fishing rod — they can break, but are inexpensive.
  • Boosts your Practicality stat and gives free cooking ingredients.
  • Also grants XP, specially early game.

Smithing and Handcrafting – Make Your Own Gear

  • Craft weapons, armor, and arrows at forges and workbenches
  • Talk to the Blacksmith in the Horns of the South to acquire some recipes
  • Use it to upgrade or replace broken gear mid-run
  • Level your handcrafting by making basic items like leather or arrows (Blacksmith at the Horns of the South sells an arrows and throwing daggers recipe book for 100 coins)
  • Better crafting = higher damage, defense, and stat bonuses on gear

Which Stat to Level for Crafting?

Invest in Practicality to boost all crafting professions. It’s required for top-tier recipes and significantly boosts item quality.

Bonus Tip: Access Stash While Crafting and Selling

Your stash contents are available at any crafting station, including bonfires. Offload all ingredients and use the stash to craft freely in the field.

You can also go to any merchant and directly sell from the stash, saving you from having to carry a lot of dead weight.
