Sea of Thieves season 15 launched on February 20th, and we just can’t hold back our excitement! The main goal of this season was to make the already captivating world of Sea of Thieves even more alive and vibrant, as well as to add long-overdue missions: those of the Hunter’s Call. Let’s look at all the added content together in this article.
Two New Megalodons
That’s right. Along with the 5 fearsome megalodon species already in the game, including the rare Shrouded Ghost, two new ancient megalodon species have been added: the Feared Redmaw and the Barnacle Dread. The Feared Redmaw appears as a fiery megalodon, which can set your ship on fire with a single bite. In addition, it can charge an attack that results in a fatal explosion at a great distance.
The Feared Redmaw
The Barnacle Dread, on the other hand, is a barnacle and coral plate covered megalodon with electrical powers. In order to deal it some damage, you need to destroy its coral plates first. If its bite reaches your ship, it sends out a powerful electrical discharge. Furthermore, during the battle, Eel-ectric Ocean Crawlers, the only type of electrical mob in the game, will spawn aboard. This is the first time since the game’s inception that a battle includes the spawn of mobs aboard the ship. You thought you were safe, right?
The Barnacle Dread
Unlike the other megalodons, which “warn” the player of their arrival with a rather flashy “entrance”, these new megalodons are always around the map (one at a time) and it is possible to spot their fin from afar so that a real hunt can begin. And speaking of hunting…
New Hunter’s Call Quests
Good news for those who like Sea of Thieves for fishing. It is now possible to undertake a raid voyage with the hunter’s emissary: this will grant specific treasures at the end of the mission (warning: the trip must necessarily be purchased from the quest table. The raid randomly spawned by the server will count as a generic raid and not specific to hunters and does not offer unique treasures).
Unique raid treasure if you play as the Hunter
There are also two new specific quests for Hunters: the Fishing Voyages. They differ only in length, but the core is the same: you will receive a map indicating the presence of “puddles” in the vicinity of islands where more or less rare fish swim. Your goal is to catch them all and bring them to the outpost, where now, instead of the fishing rod resting on the fence, a friendly fisherman will have appeared.

And that’s not all: reaching emissary level 5 will make it possible to track the Feared Redmaw or Barnacle Dread directly from the map. Now the hunt is getting intriguing!
New Environmental Creatures
Actually, this change is not yet visible in the game, but will come later. It is about new creatures designed to make the game more alive and realistic. The first are boars, which are visible on the starting menu.

Next are the jellyfish, which apparently will not do any damage, but will only serve as decoration of the seabed, seagulls that will follow the ship throughout the journey, perhaps in search of some fish to recover from your missions, and lizards on barrels (this change is also visible in the starting menu, on the bottom left corner of the map). Additionally, you can have a tiny pig as a pet and a new weapon is available: the Hunting Spear. And finally, a new season means 100 new amazing rewards to discover, that include new weapons, clothing and coins (of all three types).
