Announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase for E3 2021, Sea of Thieves players are getting a free update on June 22nd, featuring a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover.

In an unexpected crossover between Xbox, Rare, and Disney, Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life will task you with rescuing Captain Jack Sparrow himself. Afterward, you’ll set sail together on a journey of discovery, encountering locations and characters familiar to fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. Most notable of all, this massive Sea of Thieves update will pit you against Jack’s formidable foe, Davy Jones of the Flying Dutchman.

On the official announcement via the Sea of Thieves website, Rare went further into what types of foes you might expect when playing A Pirate’s Life

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life is the headline feature of Season Three, which also shakes up the Sea of Thieves as new enemy types featured in the Tall Tales spill out across the world. Skeletons and sharks are no longer your main concern as swarming Sirens, darting Phantoms and brutish Ocean Crawlers surge across the seas. Even if you do manage to overcome the looming threat to the pirate’s life, it’ll never be quite the same again!

Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life will be available for free from the 22nd of June, 2021. This was but one among many big announcements at the Xbox-Bethesda showcase, including a confirmed Starfield release date
