Battle royales are a current commodity, so it should come as no surprise when major companies include them in some form whenever possible. Just ask Bethesda.
As announced during Bethesda’s E3 conference, Fallout 76 will incorporate a battle royale mode that’s free to play for current Fallout 76 players. Dubbed Nuclear Winter, the mode will feature 52 total players in a standard PvP format. The trailer, for better or worse, didn’t provide much in terms of gameplay, though filled in some narrative context. For said narrative context, the developer provided this description on their official Youtube channel:
Nukes have set the world ablaze and the battle to claim your spot as Overseer of Vault 51 has begun – will you be the last one standing or be consumed by the ring of fire?

Curiously, no release date was included within Nuclear Winter‘s trailer. One can only get a “sneak peek” starting today, and no other details have been provided. If nothing else, after the mediocre reception that Fallout 76 received upon release, the inclusion of a battle royale mode only seems to add fuel to the fire.
