Hunts are a staple of the Final Fantasy series and they make their triumphant return in Final Fantasy 16. Also referred to as Notorious Marks, Clive can take on a whole kingdom’s worth of terrifying monsters from the Hunt Board manned by the cute Moogle Nektar: from coeurls to morbols, dragons to behemoths, nothing is safe from you and your blade. That doesn’t mean it’s all easy, though. C Rank Hunts are the easiest, followed by B and A Hunts. S Rank Hunts are the most difficult, being the rarest type of Mark. Those S Ranks are no joke and contain some of the most challenging battles in the entire game.
Finding the Hunts isn’t always easy, either. Some are locked behind specific sidequests while others are hiding in various nooks and crannies across Valisthea. You’ll want to find every last one, though, as they are a great source of experience, Gil, Ability Point and Renown. Some even award rare crafting materials that you will use to make some of the strongest weapons and equipment in the whole game. You also need to clear the Hunt Board to get the trophy Hunter, Hunted which you need for the Platinum Trophy. There are a lot of Notorious Marks to find – 32 to be precise – so we’re here to give you a hand.
Here’s where to find all Notorious Marks and how to complete all hunts, including all 5 S Rank Hunts, in Final Fantasy XVI.

All C Rank Hunt Locations
Ahriman
As the name suggests, this first Hunt in FF16 is the infamous Ahriman. A long-standing Final Fantasy enemy, Ahriman are annoying, mischievous creatures who fly on bat-like wings and have a single large eye on their heads. They primarily fight at long range, hitting you with beams and other attacks that can make fighting even low-level variants of this creature incredibly irritating. Stay on the offensive and keep pushing in with things like Phoenix Shift to keep the pressure on and take it out quickly.
The Ahriman is the first Notorious Mark you will stumble across in your journey around Valisthea. This monster, and its associated Hunt, will be your introduction to the Notorious Mark system and how the Hunt Board works. You’ll run into it while completing The Gathering Storm main scenario quest in Rosaria, just north of the Riddock’s Jump bridge.
Aruna
The next C Rank Hunt we’ll be looking at is The Angel of Death Hunt. This Notorious Mark is actually called Aruna, a dangerous Egi Harpy who remains in Sanbreque even long after what befell Benedikta 5 years earlier. This Harpy is focused a lot on close-range attacks, so keep that in mind when engaging it.
The Aruna Hunt is one of the earliest Hunts you can undertake, becoming available almost immediately after unlocking the Hunt Board itself. You’ll find it in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque in an area called Leuret’s Knot in Claireview. The easiest way to get here is to simply head south from the Northreach obelisk towards the Holy Eye bridge: the Harpy should become obvious as you get close enough.
- Aruna, C Rank

Soul Stingers
The next C Rank Hunt isn’t for some time, not until you reach the Velkroy Desert of the Dhalmekian Republic. This Hunt is for the Soul Stingers, a large group of vilekin who have been making life plenty unenjoyable for anyone crossing the desert sands. These bugs aren’t too nasty, choosing mostly to engage you one at a time. The only annoying move in their roster is one where they all dive at you at once, which can catch you off guard if you aren’t ready with a dodge, Titanic Block or another method of avoiding them.
The Soul Stinger contract, as well as several other Velkroy Hunts, will likely become available after you complete the main scenario quest Into the Darkness. You’ll find the swarm in the Fields of Corava, a large desolate plain to the southeast of Dalimil. The best way to reach them is to head towards the Sickle from either The Jaw or the Dalimil obelisk: from there, head east until you reach the Fields. Then simply travel to the Empty Hovel on the opposite side of the plains where the bugs will be waiting.
- Soul Stingers, C Rank

Grimalkin
The Grimalkin is another C Rank hunt in the Dhalemkian Republic. This Hunt is going to be against one of the Republic Panthers, a vicious creature Clive and Company fought earlier in the game.
Just like the Soul Stingers, the contact for the Grimalkin in Final Fantasy 16 should become available once you’ve ventured into Drake’s Fang and beaten the Into the Darkness quest. At this point, you should head to the Sickle south of Dalimil. Instead of proceeding onto the Fields of Carava, head south when the path diverges: this will take you into an isolated quarry, one where Grimalkin and its pack are waiting for you.
- Grimalkin, C Rank
- Grimalkin Location
The Pack
Lastly, the final C Rank hunt is yet another Dhalmekia Hunt. This time, you’ll be hunting several targets as you take on The Pack, a deadly group of wolves who have been preying on nearby villagers. On their own, wolves aren’t too dangerous of an enemy type. In groups, though, they can become somewhat tricky if you don’t crowd-control them with large, sweeping attacks as they can sneak in and land a few free shots.
The Pack can be found in southern Tabor, a location you will visit after the quest Cloak and Dagger but you have to wait until later for the contract to become available. From the Tabor obelisk, head south towards Kanver and the Gilded Path but an immediate right when you leave the town. This will take you back towards the Fields of Corava. On this path, there’s a small area hidden away where The Pack roams free.

Belphegor
The first B Rank Hunt in Final Fantasy 16 is Belphegor, one of the earliest Hunts Clive can undertake. In this Hunt, you’ll be going against an aggressive Aevis, a Dragon-like creature with a pool of close and ranged attacks. Aevis come in several different forms, usually preferring one method of combat over the other, but Belphegor will have a lot of different tools in its arsenal, including being able to shoot several balls of fire at once.
Belphegor can be found in Rosaria, specifically at a place called The Broken Hilt. This is a cliffside south of Eastpool which can very easily be found by heading in that direction from the Eastpool Obelisk. Just pass through the wheat fields being guarded by a very familiar-looking scarecrow and you’ll be able to battle Belphegor to your heart’s content.
- Belphegor, B Rank

Dozmare
Next up is Dozmare, a B Rank Griffin hunt. Griffins are an interesting monster in Final Fantasy XVI as you only end up fighting them as part of questlines or hunts: there aren’t many out in the wild which can make combating them tricky. Griffins will primarily attack at long range, using Wind magic to bounce you around before swooping in with quick speed. Stay on your toes, use Charged Magic a lot and be ready to dodge constantly to avoid its attacks.
Unlocking Dozmare’s contract isn’t that simple, though. It won’t appear on the board until you accept and progress a different quest in the Hideaway: several Hunts are like this, where the monster only appears once the quest has been accepted. To unlock the Dozmare contract, you’ll need to begin the quest Blacksmith’s Blues. You can accept this quest from August in the Mess and it is the start of a very important questline which culminates in the strongest weapon in all of Final Fantasy 16. To learn more about this quest and that sword, check out our guide here.
Back to the Hunt, once you’ve progressed this quest enough and are asked to hunt down a Griffin for Blackthorne, you can set off. The location of the Hunt is in Caer Norvent Sanbreuqe, specifically the West Gate south of Lostwing. This is where you first enter Car Norvent early in the game with Cid so you can confront Benekita. To get here, head down the southern path from Lostwing: this is a very linear trail and it’ll take you straight to the cathedral walls where Dozmare is waiting.
- Dozmare, B Rank
- Dozmare Location
Sekhret
Sekhret is the leader of a group of Beastman close to Martha’s Rest. Minotaurs are another brute-style enemy in Final Fantasy 16: massive and imposing, they wield large clubs and will perform several wide attacks with long wind-ups. Fortunately, this means that they’re easy to punish if you’re good with your precision dodges or parrying. Their most devastating attacks are an overhead smash which deals very high damage and will knock you to the ground, and a bull rush to quickly close distance.
While the Hunt itself tells you that Sekhret is West of Rhiannon’s Ride in Rosaria, it is more true to say that it is in the western region of the Greensheaves. You’ll find the Minotaur roaming around close to the northern exit to Martha’s Rest on a small swampy patch of land.
- Sekhret, B Rank
- Sekhret Location
Severian
The next Notorious Mark is a creature of Fallen origin called Severian. This type of Echo is a particularly aggressive one, with the ability to wield two massive blades of light as well as throw ranged projectiles.
This Hunt can be found in Rosaria, specifically the swamps of Sorrowise. This part of the map is to the west of Martha’s Rest and consists of a series of small land masses connected by bridges and thin pieces of land. Severian can be found at the centre of some Fallen ruins on the northmost patch of land, only engaging you when you close in on it. It shouldn’t take you more than a minute to get here from the Martha’s Rest obelisk.
- Severian, B Rank
- Severian Location
Fastitocalon
Fastitocalon is the first B Rank Hunt in the Velkroy Desert of Dhalmekia. This Hunt is against a rare type of Adamantoise. While not the most dangerous type of monster in Valisthea, they certainly are annoying with their tough shells bouncing off all damage. This just leaves the head open, limiting what kind of attacks and moves you can do.
You’ll find this special Adamantoise in the northern reaches of the Velkroy. It’s in a small valley past an area of the desert called The Bandit’s Bed, an abandoned town left to the sands. This is very close to the Velkroy Desert obelisk and you can make short work of the journey on your trust Chocobo.
- Fastiocalon, B Rank
- Fastiocalon Location
Bomb King
Another familiar name, or should we say familiar enemy, is that of the Bomb King. Final Fantasy 16’s variant of the Bombs all dwell in Fallen ruins and the Bomb King is no different. While kind of a pushover, the biggest thing with Bombs is that they cannot be staggered, making them slightly more frustrating to battle. Additionally, the Bomb King can divide itself up into multiple smaller Bombs that will almost immediately go into an explosive state.
The Bomb King is similar to Dozmare the Griffin in that it won’t appear until you begin a separate questline. The quest is Weird Science which you can get from a fella called Owain in the Hideaway. This quest won’t appear until you help Mid create her workspace in the quest Out of the Shadow.
As for where you’ll find the Bomb King once you’ve begun the quest, you’ll be heading to an area called the Crook in Sanbreque. The Crook is an isolated Fallen ruin close to the Dragon’s Aery in a stretch of forest called the Imperial Chase. It should be worth noting that another Hunt later on takes place in this same location which may lead to trouble if have both active at the same time. As such, clear out the Bomb King whenever you’re able to avoid this trouble.

The Ten of Clubs
The Ten of Clubs is a soldier of the Dhalmekian Republic who went rogue and abandoned his post. Now, the fierce fighter looks for his next challenge, crushing all those who get in his way. This Hunt is against one of the large axe-wielding fellows that Clive has already fought many times over.
You’ll find the Ten of Clubs in the Fields of Corava in Dhalmekia. He’s lurking in an empty village called Vamare to the south of the Fields.
- The Ten of Clubs, B Rank
- Ten of Clubs Location
Holy Trumpitour
The second to last B Rank Hunt is a member of the Black Shields called the Holy Trumpitour. This contract will appear on the Hunt Board under the name The Man in Black, named after the Imperial soldier’s former allegiance. The Holy Turmpitour is one of the rarer Imperial enemies in Final Fantasy 16, the Imperial Cannonier. These tanky brutes can brawl up close by swinging their cannon around wildly or fight at long range with projectiles.
Finding the Holy Trumpitour can be a bit of a task. Firstly, he won’t appear until you complete the sidequest For Great Justice 2 which is the conclusion to Quinten and Lostwing’s questline.
Once you’ve finished For Great Justice 2, you’ll want to head back into Lostwing. The area is full of aether thanks to a flood, leaving it desolate and empty of villagers. The area you need to head to is the Cellar Passage, the area you visited on your first journey to Lost Wing in the main story. To get back here, go to the Lostwing Cathedral where they will be a set of stairs leading to an underground area: from there, simply follow the path until you reach the clearing where you fought Benekita’s Egi. Now, after many years, the Holy Trumpitour has taken up its place.

Carrot
Carrot is another questline Hunt. This time, the quest is for Nigel in the Backyard, the agriculture section of the Hideaway. The quest in question is Please Sir, Can I Have Some Morbol, the second quest you’ll undertake for Nigel after completing The Root of the Problem. This quest is pretty important as it raises the healing potency of your Potions, High Potions and tonics.
Accept Nigel’s request and you can head over to Rosaria. Carrot is hiding in a lonely bit of swamp called the Whispering Waters, an area directly off the main path leading from the Three Reeds obelisk. Simply wander down the hill and make a right into the swamp whenever the foliage breaks.

Flan Prince
Beginning our A Rank Notorious Mark selection is the Flan Prince. The Flan Prince is particularly tricksy thanks to its ability to wield almost all elements of magic: during your fight, it will cast everything from Firaga to Aeroga to Thundaga and more. Some of these moves are already pretty hard to avoid but pairing it with the overly aggressive melee moves of the Flan can make it an especially tricky fight early in the game.
You’ll find Prince Flan hiding in the fields of Hawk’s Cry Cliff in Rosaria. Instead of heading to the village of Amber, continue down the rocky plain close to the path which leads to Auldhyl. Upon getting close enough, the Prince Flan will reveal itself from underground, allowing you to continue your Hunt in earnest.

The Nine of Knives
The next Notorious Mark in Final Fantasy XVI is the Nine of Knives. This fighter is a variant of the Dhalmekian Reaper, an enemy who uses dual blades alongside. They will often cover large distances in an instant or use attacks like explosive smokescreens or poison mist at close range.
The Nine of Knives will appear on the path directly north of The Jaw after you complete Into the Darkness. He will be standing amongst a group of corpses on the main road, allowing you to easily engage him in combat.

The Mageth Brothers
Next on the list are the Mageth Brothers, a trio of axe-wielding maniacs. On their own, these enemies aren’t anything too special, they’re just your average hulk with a large axe. However, the issue with this Hunt comes with the fact that there are three of them: you constantly have to keep moving, making sure to pick your time to strike wisely. You can easily get into a situation where you dodge one, so for a strike and get interrupted by one you didn’t see. They also have a unique attack where all three charge at you in unison which can be bothersome to dodge if you’re using a combo or Eikon ability.
The Mageth Brothers are waiting for you in Rosaria. To find them, head to Port Isolde and then go on the northern path to the Quietsands. Here, you’ll the three brothers wandering aimlessly around the beach near the coastline.

Dread Comet
The Dread Comet is a unique, fiery-coloured Chocobo who has taken to violently dismantling any who comes into contact with it. Like with the Bomb King, the main issue with this fight is going to be how the Dread Comet cannot be staggered, leading to an all-out brawl with no breaks or moments of downtime.
You can find the Dread Comet in the Sickle area of Dhalmekia. Between where the Sickle joins with the Fields of Corava is a short branching path. This clearing is where the dangerous Chocobo can be found.

Gobermouch
Gobermouch is a very interesting, and amusing hunt. Goblins are considered Beastmen native to Storm, in much the same way that Orcs are native to Ash. However, Gobermouch bucks this trend by seemingly being a wandering Goblin, one who has crossed the strait. Humorously, it fights using moves more similar to a Gigas than a typical Goblin. It swings its club in a circle just like a Gigas and will even attempt a big overhead swing.
Gobermouch will become available to hunt upon completing The Last King. It has taken up residence in the ghost town of Eistla. While much of the town is completely barren, the Goblin is dozing around on an elevated area you can access via some staircases next to the Maudlin Mason.

Bygul
The creature known as Bygul is a special kind of coeurl, a reoccurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. What makes Bygul so special is that it not only has a unique design but extra moves involving the element of lightning, moves not seen on other coeurls. It will be very aggressive, attacking you primarily at close range with fast melee attacks and lightning magic.
The deadly Bygul is in the northern area of Ash. After crossing the Ravenwit walls into the Kritten Hollow, keep to the side that contains the Neverturn forest. Your coeurl will be prowling close to the forest edge, nearby the steel and stone walls of Ravenwit.

Agni
Agni is the name of a large spine drake in the continent of Ash. Once a peaceful creature, the aether floods all over the continent have turned it Akashic and left it a wandering husk of aggression. Just like the same beasts you fought in the earlier portions of Final Fantasy 16, Agni is a very hostile creature, one who will charge you and try to jump on top of you very often. It has a ranged fire-breathing attack that you should keep in mind whenever getting close to its head.
Agni can be found on the path to the Edge of Infinity obelisk. Directly south of Eistla is an area called Halfcombe, a ravenous mountain valley filled with Fallen ruins. Near the end of this stretch of road is a wide opening circled by Fallen architecture: this is where Agni will emerge out of a hole in the wall.

Thanatos
The being known as Thanatos is an imposing one, being one of Ultima’s Thralls and a deadly one at that. Thanatos is an Undertaker, a large Goliath-type monster that Clive will battle several times in his journey. This Notorious Mark has the same strength and aggression as all the others but with a dangerous twist. Thanatos will repeatedly cast the Undertaker move Spirits Within, a wide beam it shoots from its chest in an arc: it will do this over and over at a much higher frequency than other Undertakers.
You will find Thanatos in an area of Dhalmekia called Titan’s Wake, a narrow series of canyons connecting the Gilded Path and the town of Kretov. Thanatos will appear alongside several other Hunts after The Last King main scenario quest. However, you may also have to complete the Duty Undying sidequest, as well, which can be found in Tabor.
- Thanatos, A Rank
- Thanatos Location
Terminus
Termius is another Fallen enemy, a Fallen Node to be precise. These enemies may seem simple but they are holding some nasty tricks behind their backs. Termius, in particular, is partial to the move Short Circuit, a close-range attack where the Node will smash into the ground three times, releasing a blast of lightning when it does so. It’s also surprisingly fast, zipping around the arena with ease.
One thing to note about Termius is where you can find it. You’ll find this Fallen Node in the Crook located in Sanbreque. This area should sound familiar as it is where you will fight the Bomb King as part of the Weird Science quest. Two Hunt targets cannot exist in the same location so if you haven’t completed Weird Science before undertaking Terminus, get that done first. Then, after teleporting to another region you should be able to return and hunt down Termius as normal.

Kuza Beast
The Kuza Beast is your first, but certainly not last, encounter with a Behemoth on the Hunt Board. Like all other creatures of this terrifying breed, the Kuza Beast is relentless and violent with the ability to call down a hailstorm of meteors on top of you in an instant.
You will battle the Kuza Beast at the end of the sidequest Nobody’s Tool. This is the final quest in Dorys and the Cursebreaker questline, one which also includes the quests The Weight of Command and Self-Determination. In it, you return to Ash and head to an abandoned prison called the Balmung Dark. You will explore the facility before eventually battling the Behemoth in the large, coliseum-like centre of the building.
- Kuza Beast, A Rank
- Kuza Beast Location
Gizamaluk
Likely one of the final Hunts that you will undertake is Gizamaluk. Ironically, this monster is another Harpy Egi, just like one of your very first Marks, Aruna. Benedikta was a loyal servant of Waloed, after all, meaning that shadows of her Eikon still linger in this land. Compared to Aruna, Gizamaluk is a lot more dangerous, utilising more Wind magic than her Harpy sister. These attacks come quickly and she will only grow more dangerous as the fight nears its conclusion.
While not a monster related to a quest, you won’t be able to hunt Gizamaluk until you complete a sidequest in Ash. That quest is An Inconvenient Truth, a quest given to you by Vivian Ninetails once you reach the final main scenario quest Back to Their Origin. The reason why you need to beat this quest is that it takes place in the village of Garrick, a small town on the outskirts of the Vidargaes. Gizamaluk spawns inside the town’s abandoned walls once you beat An Inconvenient Truth.
- Gizamaluk, A Rank
- Gizamaluk Location
Prince of Death
Another monster in Ultima’s employ is the Prince of Death. Like Thanatos, this is an upgraded version of one of Ultima’s Thralls, a Lich. As such, it has all the usual trimmings and abilities of a Lich, including teleportation, long-ranged slashes and magic attacks as well as some deadly close-range swipes. Keep on the move and be ready to disengage whenever you see the Prince of Death vanish from sight.
The Prince of Death contract will become available once you reach the main scenario quest Back to Their Origin. If it hasn’t appeared on your Hunt Board, try doing some of your available sidequests that may involve the region of Sanbreque. You’ll find Ultima’s Lich haunting the coastline of Cape Orsiere close to where the Bahamut Chronolith, the Hand of Mimas, is located.
Taking down the Prince of Death is also an important step in crafting the best weapon in Final Fantasy 16, Gotterdammerung. If you want to learn more about this weapon, as well as what other Hunts you need to undertake, you can find more information in our Gotterdammerung crafting guide here.

Knight of the Splendent Heart
Finally, for the A-Rank Hunts at least, we have the Knight of the Splendent Heart. This Imperial Dragoon is the last of his kind, stood guarding a city he once loved, waiting for his opportunity to avenge a Prince he doesn’t know is alive. The biggest thing to know about this Dragoon is that he is very partial to the Jump attack and all of its variants: he even has one where he will do a massive barrage of Jump attacks one after another. Stay calm, keep an eye on the Jump marker to know when to dodge and you should be able to cleanly deal with this Knight.
The last Dragoon still in service of the Imperial army is guarding the gates of Oriflamme, the once flourishing capital city of Sanbreque. To be more precise, you’ll find the Knight of the Splendant Heart outside the Penitent’s Gate which is located right next to the Royal Meadows obelisk. If you don’t have this obelisk, head north from the town of Northreach past the town of Moore.

All S Rank Hunt Locations in Final Fantasy XVI
Atlas
S Rank Hunts are the most challenging battles the game has to offer, being true tests of skills and prowess against foes much stronger than you. The first S Rank Hunt you can attempt is that of Atlas, an ancient Iron Giant, a type of creature that Final Fantasy fans the world over will remember with ire. They’re just as dangerous here in FF16 – as you will experience in the main scenario questline – but Atlas has a few extra tricks up its sleeve.
You’ll get access to Atlas’ contract relatively early in the game – around when you complete the quest Into the Darkness at Drake’s Fang – but you won’t be able to attempt the fight until you restore the bridge to Cressida. You’ll do this as part of the quest Out of the Shadow where Mid asks you to gather parts for her ship, The Enterprise. Once the bridge to Cressida is fixed, you may have to complete a second quest regarding Torgal called A Bone to Pick as it takes place nearby, although that is unconfirmed.
Atlas itself is your classic Iron Giant: at level, it’s a massive hulking behemoth a creature with a lot of hard-hitting moves that sweep across the entire arena. It has several close-range combos with its sword, long-ranged attacks where it shoots a line of fire at you with its shield and more. Worst of all is an attack where Atlas will summon several rings of projectiles around you that explode after a set interval while also charging up a massive light sword that will sweep across the whole arena: get ready to dodge or Garuda feat your way out of danger to safely avoid taking way too much damage.

Svarog
After Atlas is the most difficult S Rank Mark, and one of the hardest bosses in the entire game, Svarog the Dragon. When you first get the contract, this will simply be called Ruin Reawakened where the prompt will discuss the Sanbrequoir legend regarding a trapped dragon. Well, that dragon is now free and roaming the lands south of Caer Norvent.
Svarog will be waiting for you in an area of Sanbreque called Mornebrume, a long stretch of forest leading to an open clearing where you can battle the beast. The gates to Mornebrume will be locked for quite some time, though: they seem to open up after you complete the main scenario quest Through the Maelstrom. At that point, head on over to the Caer Norvent Glorieuse Gate and you’ll be able to head on over and encounter Svarog.
- Svarog, S Rank
- Svarog Location
When you fight Svarog, the dragon will be level 50 which is the highest level achievable in any difficulty other than Final Fantasy mode. You should try and bring the best gear, weapons and equipment you can get while also stacking up on the maximum amount of Potions, High Potions and Elixirs: Svarog hits insanely hard, capable of two-shotting most players and builds with most attacks.
Compared to the other dragons in Final Fantasy 16, Svarog has a rather unique design, one quite similar to the dragon Grigori from Dragon’s Dogma. Unlike the ones you will fight in the main scenario, Svarog is a fire dragon and a lot of its attacks focus on this element compared to the crystalline attacks of the other drakes. It still uses the usual suite of dragon moves and attacks such as long-ranged beams and close-ranged wing sweeps, but it does also have more up its sleeve. The most dangerous attack it has is called Dragon Dance where it will use all of its main moves consecutively: it even has a more dangerous variant of this move called the Last Dance when you bring Svarog to low enough health.
Pandemonium
Next up on our S Rank Hunts is a familiar name in a new form. Pandemonium is an Orc Warlord who resides on the continent of Ash, the home of the Orc Beastmen. With deadly Darkness-based abilities, heavy-hitting attacks and the ability to teleport, Orcish Warlords are no joke and Pandemonium is the worst of the whole lot.
You’ll find Pandemonium skulking around the castle of Wolfdarr in the Kingdom of Waloed. This is the first place you’ll visit on your trip to Ash but it is probably safer to return here after completing the quests Footfalls in Ash or The Last King. You will find Pandemonium by taking a left turn before leaving Wolfdarr to the north. This path will, instead, take you to the back half of the castle where the Orc Warlord will come to greet you.
Like with the other S Rank Hunts, Pandemonium uses a lot of the same tricks and moves as other Orc Warlords with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. The main one to be aware of is a significant change to the charged beam attack of the Orcish Warlords: usually, they will stand still and charge a Darkness beam that blasts towards you, but Pandemonium will teleport during this move before it finishes casting, potentially catching you off guard if you aren’t aware of it. Between that and the constant teleporting, it will do to get into melee range, be ready with dodges or blocks to counter it effectively.
- Pandemonium, S Rank
- Pandemonium Location
Gorgimera
The penultimate S Rank monster is in the Velkroy. This will be Gorgimera, a Chimera known for scaring traders and merchants passing through the Dhalmekian desert. This Hunt will appear around when you complete the quest Cloak and Dagger and will appear as a contract titled The Tricephalic Terror.
Compared to the other S Rank Hunts, Gorgimera is very easy to find. It isn’t hidden away in some back alley nor is it hiding behind a locked gate in an abandoned wood: no, it’s just simply sitting around in the desert sands south of where you enter the Velkroy, seemingly waiting for someone to stumble across it. All you need to do is to head to the Velkroy Desert obelisk and head south while hugging the edge of the map.
Gorgimera is a Chimera, meaning that it has access to a boatload of different attacks and abilities. The lion aspect of Gorigmera will cast fire attacks, most prominently a frontal cone of fire breath which deals high damage for several seconds. Meanwhile, the goat-aspect of it can summon ice magic and the dragon-aspect can summon lightning. With all three working together alongside the beast’s scorpion tail and melee attacks, you need to be careful when engaging this feral creature. Fortunately, a lot of its moves have long telegraphs, allowing you to stay offensive while weaving in dodges and blocks.
- Gorgimera, S Rank
- Gorgimera Location
Behemoth King
Finally, the last S Rank Hunt you’ll likely attempt is the terrifying Behemoth King. As the name implies, this beast is a Behemoth and it is the third Behemoth you’ll encounter on Ash. It is by far the deadliest, easily earning its S Rank due to its very high attack power, relentlessness and the wide amount of moves it has at its disposal.
Like with Gorgimera, the Behemoth King isn’t hiding. Instead, it’s just roaming the empty plain of Ash near Stonhyrr. Specifically, you’ll find it near the entrance to Stonehyrr in a place called the Vidargaes, a massive open field where a giant, terrifying Behemoth stands out like a sore thumb. You’ll likely only get access to this Hunt after completing several Waloed sidequests which become available upon reaching the main quest Back to Their Origin.
Along with the usual array of Behemoth attacks, the Behemoth King has several incredibly strong moves that become incredibly hard to avoid. For example, Four Horseman is a move that summons four meteors directly around you, all of which pulse a wave of fire after landing. Additionally, when the Behemoth King’s health falls to a low enough percentage, it will cast Apocalypse, a long move which rains down meteors, lighting magic and more which all have a high chance of wiping you out.
